I apologize if I ask the most classic and banal question possible but I will have the opportunity (after so many years) to grow outdoors and I would not want to make a mistake.
Cultivation area = continental climate in northern Italy (very hot but very short summers)
Place of cultivation = terrace of the house
Not being an expert at all, I would like 2 of these 5 that seem suitable to me.
I have read various topics but it is not clear to me (I have read conflicting opinions) the ease of cultivation of Northern Light, for some it is perfect for the novice grower, for others it requires more care, and even the flowering times do not seem so short.
You shouldnât have much problems growing many strains in that area. Most Indica dominant strains should do well. If your humidity is high during summer I would stay away from any strains that produce very dense buds.
The key for you is to get your plants started indoors and put them out after a month or two.
This will give your plants a good head start and able to survive most pests and conditions. When putting them out let them slowly acclimate to the direct sun by having them in partial direct sunlight and increasing that amount for a week or so.
Good luck in your endeavors!
EDITâŠâŠ Now that I know humidity is a problem, fast flowering sativaâs or autoâs may be best.
Thank you so much for your welcome and replies.
The problem in northern Italy is precisely the terrible humidity. In summer it may diminish but in September there is the risk that after a couple of weeks it will already be cold.
For this I excluded the Kush which from what I have read are fast and rapid but would prefer a drier climate.
A friend of mine once tried growing orange bud (possibly the genotype I love the most) but he was still a long way behind at the end of October
I have experience with Northern Lights Auto and found it remarkably easy to grow and forgiving. I fed them heavily and they soaked it up without issues. How long and cold are your winters? Most strains wonât be a problem as long as you have 6 months without frost.
From mid-May it is pleasantly warm (25 ° - 30 °), July August are ⊠hell (35/40 with 80% humidity) and in September there is an almost Mediterranean climate but only for a couple weeks, then rain and cold. I would have excluded the Auto because they told me they are fast but a little delicate.
In your opinion what is the best seeds bank for northern light? Many years ago I remember that Sensi Seeds was considered âa mythâ even if very expensive. Now everyone speaks to me well of the Royal Queen
I donât know anything about seed banks. The Northern Lights I was talking about were from bag seed. I had to do some research to find out what they were.
Sorry I canât be more helpful.
Hi friend from Italy,go for Royal if It Is your First Time.I would not choose autoflowering for your First plant. But keep in mind a photoperiodic doesnât like light leaks during its light off time.
I growed only Royal Queen plants autoflowering and It s a hit and miss.
This has been my favorite to grow so far. I would say you should start them in the house before setting them out. I grew non Royal photo and the Royal auto. They were true autos and still did take a while which is why I would start inside.
Good morning everyone,
Iâm at the final choice.
To be a bit modern I would like to combine superskunk with DPâs Glueberry.
What do you think?
Thanks again everyone and I will update you
