Ever Been on TV?

I had reporters ask me to do an interview about recent drownings at rice lake. I said no. What they wanted was “drowning bad, safety good, residents concerned.”

I wasn’t in the mood.

I was on the news when I was in 6th grade, 1982. I attended the Elementary institute of Science in San Diego and one day a news crew came in to film a piece on the place because it helped kids with STEM curricula. I was shown programming a video game on an Apple 2+ which was the latest greatest home computer back then. I was also seen on some MTV video that was being recorded on Haight Street in the 90’s… I was watching from across the street :joy: IDK what video because I was anti TV at the time but a friend saw me and told me I was on TV

My grandmother was an artist and sometimes I would hang out at her studio and use the apple II. Good times.

Learned screen printing too but that another story.

It was cutting edge at the time. Its amazing looking back at how quickly technology emerged to fully permeate our everyday lives.

I was on interviewed on local news when I was 14, just after our house burned down.

I ALMOST made it in the first Top Gun movie…They were filming on base in San Diego in 85 and I was in
“A-School” and they needed extras, unfortunately they cut out my scene, me walking down the sidewalk with other shipmates… so can’t count that

I was on TV quite a bit as a young person…

When I was 10, I was on ‘the Alley Cat’’ children’s TV show (like Bozo- but a cat puppet instead of a clown) and was on stage for a game that I won a HUGE tootsie roll for (their sponsor)

When I was 14, it was the Bicentennial and I petitioned the City of Lansing to allow me to paint the Fire Hydrants in our neighborhood as soldiers and flags for all of the celebrations and parades – I was on the news twice for that…first for my speech to the city counsel, as I was the youngest person to ever petition the City…a week later, the same news crew did a follow up and showed me painting the hydrants. The city left those hydrants painted that way until the paint started wearing off in 1998…(I used automotive paint my dad got me from Oldsmobile!)

When I was 18, I worked at the ‘School for special needs’’ (Previously the Michigan School for the Blind.) I was in the background when The news covered Stevie Wonder at the graduation there.
The next year, I was in the news for Painting a mural covering the wall of the Music Center there.

The last time was when I was 20… I auditioned and was chosen to sing for the ‘Governors Women’s Choral’’ to sing at the Lansing Capital building and Governors Mansion for all the Christmas dinners and celebrations. We were on TV 3x for that.

Nothing since… except Radio commercials-- I guess I aged to be one of those faces better suited for Radio than TV!!

I didn’t think I’ve ever been on TV but forgot a couple years ago I was at a cardinals rooftop ballgame. Apparently they were filming a commercial at the time. Got a text from my bro in law, one of his friends saw me on the commercial. It aired ALL DAMN SEASON. And I also think it was on their mlb website if I remember correctly.
