šŸ‘ØšŸ½ā€šŸŒ¾ Farmer Pigeonman (OR): How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Indoor Growing

9 years ago George A. Romero needed to look through some archived 16mm prints for a documentary which he was taking part.

He wasnā€™t in the greatest of moods as he wasnā€™t actually interested in the documentary but was obligated contractually to do it. In the day he was on site he barely smiled with his crew, just a stern man looking through his past work in search of finding the gems they needed for the edit.

It just happened to be the time that I needed to take my old doggo Sponge out for his afternoon pee.
When George was leaving and as he stepped outside he (a giant of a man) found his way was blocked by my tiny long haired wiener dogā€¦ and when his eyes met Spongeā€™s he cracked his first smile which was all teeth and then bent down saying ā€œHello little guy! Where have you been all day?ā€

I told George that heā€™s the ā€œtech department guard dogā€ and he laughed hard and genuine. I then mentioned: ā€œwell, you see his power is being super cute, so no one does anything bad after they see him. He made you stop and smile didnā€™t he?ā€

George took a pause and then smiling said: ā€œYou know what youā€™re right.ā€, looked down and gave him a loving petting then asked, ā€œmay I hold him?ā€. My response: ā€œOf course George so long as you hold both his front and back ends due to his length and backā€¦ā€ I paused, ā€œand if I can take a picture to show Spongeā€™s Mom?ā€. He agreed and then held Sponge and talking to him in as much of a ā€œgoo-goo-ga-gaā€ voice as the man that brought us ā€œThe Night of the Living Deadā€ can get.

All in all hereā€™s the photo taken 9 years ago today and that smile I was talking about.

I miss Sponge dearly still and talk to him on occasion as heā€™s on our fireplace (urn). I also miss George, cause I got to meet the real person behind the name that day and am grateful for it even though it was just a blip on our mutual time-lines.

I met a famous person once. But I didnā€™t know they were famous. I was not impressed. And they werenā€™t impressed that I wasnā€™t impressed

Thanks for sharing this wonderful memory with us, brother :hugs::hugs:

How lovely and unique and wonderful. (Your story)
Keep talking to Sponge, if it helps. :dog:

Is it not normal to miss loyal pets loved and lost as one would a family member? I cried for days when my Cat Rex passed. :crying_cat_face:

Yes absolutely.

Same, but replace Rex with Sponge. (trying to lol)

I have Piper now, she hasnā€™t replaced Rex! There are facets of her personality that remind me so much of him itā€™s awesome and painful at the same time though.

There are also moments when she looks around the room like she sees something we Hoomanā€™s donā€™t, call me crazy but I think Cats are more connected to the spirit world than a lot of folks are comfortable with.

I think itā€™s great and often wonder at what or whom she is seeing? Perhaps Rex, which explains moments of insecurity and separation anxiety, he was indoor/outdoor, she is indoor only (confined to outdoors on the deck, unless she is haltered and leashed!) :woman_shrugging:t3:

You and the Missus ā€œshelteringā€ Ferals, Delia, Bubblesā€¦all your Fishes and your plants,
I agree, you are trying to!

I meant & mean absolutely no offence. :worried:

Oh i was just swapping your pet for mine in a tired and literal way lol.

Agreed. Weā€™re certain Celia does this too.

Initially when we got her we sometimes saw her standing on the edge of the bed and looking nervous and staring at the floor head moving around slowly in a circular motion. One day we clued in as both of us freaked out in a good way as we watched her as we realized that the path her eyes were following was the EXACT PATH SPONGE WALKED IN CIRCLES near the end when old age and doggie dementia started taking him down-hill.

Heā€™d wake up, get out of his beddie, walk in circles until he ā€œfound his place to peeā€, peed, then walked in circles again to find his bed. (by this time our entire bedroom floor was a grid of puppy pee training pads so he can pee wherever he wanted).

We interpret this as Celia seeing the spirit of Sponge pacing around showing her this was his place; and felt horrible that we never thought to introduce them to each other regardless of one being corporeal and the other incorporeal.

The next day we introduced Celia to Sponge and vice versa by the fireplace including showing her a few pictures of the boy we have next to him and the 3D crystal we had made in commemoration of his brilliance.

The next time we saw her looking at ā€œthe circleā€, she was calm and relaxed; and after a year it stopped happening.

None was felt! Only  !

ā€¦alright today is a series of :exploding_head: in the best of ways. Itā€™s always said that Friday the 13th is a lucky day for witches and well this Earth witch just got blessings raining down.

  1. the new roof looks fantastic, and all done in 1 day. Itā€™s so dapper our Cyprian neighbour whoā€™s usually a pleasant but grumpy character came out glowing to compliment it and ask us about it  .
  2. walking around the house all things considered the area is SUPER CLEAN; and any of the nails we did find are all reusable and now in the hardware inventory
  3. our lawn is in full bloom and the :bee: are everywhere, the Miniature from a 60 year old root system Cherry Tree is flowering like mad, and my Paw-Paw trees are waking up.
  4. itā€™s predicted to be warm enough that I can finally move the potted plants back outside! :joy:
  5. I finally found this morning the pump which is going into the pond later today.
  6. Weā€™re getting, FOR FREE, a cherry-red Formica table set with chairs so my partnerā€™s RMT home practice will also feel like a 50ā€™s diner!
  7. and the big hitterā€¦

THIS RANDO MOFO I found in my morning glory barrel! :open_mouth:

Like most outdoor growers in a city, I did have random seeds here and there in my plants; this is inevitable and I learned to live with it but thereā€™s no way those seeds could have made it here. Iā€™ve also never dumped anything into this container that contains seeds or cannabis debris at allā€¦ so my theory:

This container is literally below my mailbox so if there was a damaged envelope over the winter a seed could have fallen into this containerā€¦ which means that there is a possibility that this is an Acapulco Gold plant from @lambchopedd as the only damaged envelope iā€™ve gotten which would account for seed loss was one containing the aforementioned strain.

Iā€™m digging it up this evening to put it into a pot and then nurse it and will be asking all of you for your help as :male_detective: :female_detective: 's in trying to figure out what cultivar this iz. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

All in all today has been most amazing, and itā€™s not even 11am.

Iā€™m gonna go out now and move plants to bird-jazz. :sunglasses:

Enjoy your Saturday everyone!
(Or donā€™tā€¦ I ainā€™t telling you how to live your lifeā€¦ )

:hugs: :metal: :globe_with_meridians:

Iā€™m digging the morning glory barrel.

Sure seems to like where it decided to grow , not sure your postman stinking of weed every time he delivers mail to your house fighting a 8 ft tall monster to find the mail box would go over very well?

Iā€™m gonna nurse it inside, and if itā€™s a good plant itā€™ll get flowered and see what happens :man_shrugging:

Good thing it is just tweety birds in the background and not the parrots showing. It would not be mellow at all.

Letā€™s start with the babies and stick our heads into the AC Infinity 2x4 Tent and check out the AUTOFEMS on DAY 14 since hitting water.

Every 12 hours I spray down the entire soil surface area of each fabric pot with filtered water and theyā€™ve been getting a steady feed of Hydrotechā€™s 50/50, a liquid vermicast & kelp extract at 1/4 strength in turkey-baster dosages. Additionally yesterday evening was their first application of BudBusterPro. :+1:

Up close and personal they are each charmers with of course one weirdo.

Creme De La Chem; a little small but itā€™ll catch-up.

Dosi Waker; doing very well!

Earth Lover CBD; not just a healer, but also a growing beast!

Fog Dog; very similar in size to the Dosi Walker.

GG#4; she started  'ing right after she got sprayed with BBP.

Man Bear Alien Pig; itā€™s the tallest of the bunch, but then again of all the autoā€™s iā€™ve grown this was true then as well.:seedling: :giraffe:

Strayberry Shortcrack; this is the weirdoā€¦ but I LIKE weirdoā€™s so itā€™s staying put. If things donā€™t work out down the line and it stalls in a bad way I may intervene but at this point iā€™m in the ā€œletā€™s see how this turns outā€ boat. :man_shrugging:  :rowing_man: :seedling:

Trizzler F2; second smallest next to the CLDL but as with that runt iā€™m sure itā€™ll catch up in plant-puberty.

Jumping to the left about 2 meters we are in the 4x4 tent!

ACDC; itā€™s colour is coming in quite nicely but only after a bit of trial and error over the past few weeks. For the first time in I donā€™t even remember I actually had to bring out the CAL-MAG  .

Both the CBD producers in this tent (#FuckCancer) were yellowing even after a good worm castings + molasses tea was applied.

So I :man_shrugging: and pulled the cal-mag card and added 5ml per 2gal of feed andā€¦ :boom: :exclamation:

:arrow_right: The YELLOWING started to dissipate :arrow_left:

No close-ups this post but the buds are getting nice and frosty.

CBD OG Kush; this is a  :stop_sign: 'er! :open_mouth: . I turned on the RapidLED UVA Trichome Enhancement Puck last weekend and and already frosty girl has even more gains! :exploding_head:

I joke not: the buds GLOW due to the refraction of light. I canā€™t get this on camera with lights on with any justice to them but iā€™ll time a flash shot just before lights on so I donā€™t piss her off too much. :camera_flash:

Sour BluTooth F2; tonightā€™s the night Iā€™ll take down the top half and most likely will be done under green light so I can do it in the daytime versus after 8pmā€¦ It smells like cotton candy and I hope that Iā€™ve done BOGā€™s work some justice.

Switching :gear: 's into the MEDCab letā€™s slam into 5th and check out the :racing_car: 's.

UK Cheese; itā€™s a fucking hedge with a base stalk already at 1.5+" and still going! You canā€™t see into this plant if you tried (and I do) but thereā€™s nothing going weird in there as Iā€™ve been removing any 50%+ dead leaves in there.

From what I can see in the growth structure as I do this each day is that Iā€™ve got a fuck-tonne long bout of trim jail come October, which is honestly never a bad thing!

Manitoba Poison; when I QUEST for anything, I usually do it for a reason and often there are subtexts involved I donā€™t fully understand as Iā€™m allowing the cosmos to carry me alongā€¦ this was one of those times when out of all the fast flowering photos I looked into I then obsessed with finding this.

Well; JUST LOOK AT THIS PLANT!!!ā€¦ and I wasnā€™t wrong!

Iā€™ve never had the privilege of growing such cultivar with each branch being itā€™s own bush like this before. Iā€™m so happy to have the opportunity and am both excited and intimidated for the season to come of care itā€™ll need to make it shine as much as it deserves. :sun_with_face:

White CBG; this plant has decided that itā€™s going to GROW LIKE NUTS since itā€™s 1st application of BudBusterPro last weekend. :open_mouth: .

Literally like a :rocket: in 1986 it just out of nowhere blew up! (i love tasteless humour  )

As per Bobā€™s suggestions, I increased itā€™s feed and well, here we are. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Freedom Dream CBD; this is the most :metal: looking plant EVER. It looks like if you dried it and beat someone with it youā€™d do some serious damage. :cricket_bat_and_ball:

Heading up several flights of stairs like we were Rocky Balboa punching all the way weā€™ll check up on the ā€¦

Black Snow; itā€™s doing better considering the thrips which I have thankfully under a level of control. I hosed it down a few times, and made an Aquabac tea which is my go-to bio-attack for the things living in the soil to soak the pot. Otherwise itā€™s been getting a steady, but increased feed due to the BBP applications.

Iā€™ll soak it down in Saferā€™s End All in 3 days time, and then will wait 7 days before applying BBP again to give the fatty acids a chance to break down a bit so they are less likely to travel INTO the plant by way of the BBPā€™s magic  .

On the shelf next to the Mammoth 2x2 the Motherā€™s, Father and Reveg are doing their thing.

Sadly the ONLY reveg that survived the thrips surprise attack is the Cherry Festival F2. All the others are now bagged and their soil used in a dried out patch of our front lawn so if thereā€™s anything in there (bug wise) itā€™s far away from the backyard food growing area.

Everything else has been MOVED OUTSIDE yesterdayā€¦ so it seems like Iā€™ll have to either re-start, or, start-up a new OUTDOORS THREAD  :+1:

Opinions?

Should I start a new thread for 2022? (OR) Re-start my ā€œOutdoor Growing Adventuresā€ thread?

All the best to all you humble fabulouses!!

:hugs: :metal: :globe_with_meridians:
