I had heard of this one. Said to be gone since the 90’s I wondered if maybe it was the PPP and someone in MI just renamed it.
Last I saw was 1 plant of it in midland in my buddys bedroom in 2001. Long story, but we ended up with that plant after a dudes kid ripped us off on a fuck of shit.
Looked sativa, smoked like an indica. Nothing special about the smell or flavor, but the couch lock was incredible.
So after the 11th, you do what? Just the regular routine, soak, paper towels, soil, or just straight to soil?
I’ve never tried moon planting, but I have 10 Kalga Valley, and 10 Blood Klot seeds in the freezer right now, so it’s on.
Don’t encourage him man.
I’m so slow sometimes LOL. I didn’t even realize he thought we were selling freakShow on Strainly. He could have just asked. Some people can’t wrap their head around the fact that not everybody is in this for the money. I Suppose our group is in the minority. Will people make money off seeds we pass out? Yes, I’m sure of it. But that will be down the road. Someone would still have to do some growing to make money off of our seeds . The Freaker’s will not be making money on these reproductions, except what is made for the server funds. Freakshow would not qualify for a Freakers seed run anyway.
Depends on the seed. Being that this is a supermoon, I would imagine it’s one of the best shots we have to germinate tough to germinate seeds, like those coming from other countries that were grown outside last season.
You know I’ve never done a seed soak? I just get the paper towels extra soaking wet for the first 24 hours. Kind of the same thing I suppose.
And then the paper towels go on top of a sponge that has its feet sitting in water and one of those little biodome trays. The sponge wicking water from the bottom of the tray keeps the paper towels moist oh, and the sponge keeps the paper towels off the bottom of the tray, which has a heating pad under it. I use one of those seedling heat mats. If you put the paper towels right on the bottom of the biodome the heat mat will literally cook your sprouts. The heat mat underneath the tray evaporates the water in the bottom of the tray and causes that to accumulate on the hood of the biodome, where every condenses and Rains Down on the paper towel and the seeds, bringing fresh oxygenated water onto the seeds just like mother nature intended. I’ve had excellent luck with this method. I learned it from a guy on IG that has great luck germinating landrace seeds. His setup actually uses a fish aquarium
Has anybody ever tried germinating seeds in a glass of water with a fish bubbler in it? It works for making clones, so why not for making sprouts? You wouldn’t have to worry about your seeds going dry, and they would always have enough oxygen, while at the same time being exposed to the maximum amount of water. Going a step further, I’ve wondered if you could do this in compost tea?
It’s definitely time to germinate seeds if you have some to sprout. It doesn’t get any better than this.
He thought I was selling Freakshow on Strainly.
Yes I have tried germinating in water. I found it not a good idea as the timing to get them out of the water has to be spot on or they drown.
I have had a lot better success with paper towel or just in soil.
Wouldn’t a fish bubbler prevent drowning?
Didn’t for me…
Its not like they breath air.
Thought they had a little snorkel on em, LOL.
In my mind I thought it would work the same way as an aero cloner, because oxygen is required for root growth, yet it is done with a bubbler. I should have been more clear. I don’t mean the seed would be completely immersed, but that the seed would get splashed on similar to the stem of a plant in an aerocloner. I would imagine the seeds would have to be on some sort of foam Island in the middle of the water or something like that. How did you try it?( so I know what not to do)
I tried to just let them soak long enough to get tails. I think what happened was as the shell cracks it fills with water.
Now I don’t soak my seeds unless they are old and if so I use a little h2o2 in the water to help soften the shells.
I mix some h2o2 in some water and let the seeds sit in it for maybe an hour and agitate the mixture a little bit here and there. This is my attempt to clean the shell a little bit before dropping them into a cup of straight water to wash the mixture off and then into a wet paper towel.
After using paper towels since the early 90s, I gave this guys method a try and haven’t looked back. 100% germination the last three runs on viable seeds. The video and technique speak for themselves. Especially helpful on difficult seeds like some of my older Snowhigh stuff that would fart out or never pop in paper towels, soaking, soaking with h2o2 etc. The only thing i do differently is I only soak in H2O2 for 15-60 minutes as I’ve had eager babies crack and drown leaving them for much longer. YMMV but it’s the way for me these days.
Interesting! I’ve never had a seed fail to pop (only been growing a few years) but faster is faster! I generally don’t run two of the same strain at the same time so it wouldn’t be a true test but maybe I’ll give it a shot anyway and see.
Old seeds are different than fresh seeds. Much harder to germinate.
I could imagine. I have some random seeds from the 90s that I might have to get creative with when I try them.
We were just having a discussion on the percentages of hydrogen peroxide people use. What strength do you use?
Ok lol I gotta put in my ‘two cents worth’ here and now…Guitarzan has been to my house/grow and my wife, son and I have been to his place, likewise. more than once…
Him and his wife are great people and I believe in everything the Freakers are doing as the best way they could do it. I know a lot of thought had gone into this effort and it’s not something done lightly, or with ‘scamming’ in mind.
Now, on to other things lol I’ve made the decision to go ahead and try to hang in for another year as a commercial grower since the license is good until next Feb. Just do it scaled back a bit until I can figure out some logistics/problems.
As Guitarzan and a few other OGers that’ve been to my place knows, I do a lot of seed runs and crosses, but haven’t any true landrace strains atm. I have generated a lot of seeds and was thinking of offering some up to folks on here (both femmed and standard) I’ll get with ya Guitarzan to see if any interest.
