I’ve said exactly that to another new person recently. this is a good thread to actually meet people and get to know them in a “room” setting. Posting a question here has eyes on it immediately, we can direct to a search / answer accordingly. Newbies questions posted by themselves can get buried among the other threads at times.
I look at it more as a mis-named chat thread. there are other more focused seed threads, and other longer discussions that merit their own threads, but if there was an actual easy to use chat on the site, this is pretty much it… I met and got to know a number of people thru the banter here.
Why is the truth condescending? Either way, I have actual things I need to do in my garden, not go back and forth with more pointless banter. You have a good day.
I’ve posted or commented in many topics, and started quite a few threads also. On various things, not all grow logs only… I don’t feel like I’m not contributing. I have folks ask me a lot of questions on growing, which I gladly answer to the best of my ability. I also give out seeds free to folks.
If that makes me a bad person…I don’t know what to say other than O F W, boot me from the site.
Agreed! You used to give and take here. Shoot the bull in all the conversation and grow threads.
Because we would like the thread used for what is was set up for. And would like to get people back talking in other thread. Newbies threads are being neglected as people hang out here.
Not any free seed will fit the bill for everyone. Some folks need something for pain, some need weed for anxiety, some are strain sensitive. Free seeds are not one size fits all unless you are just a hoarder or collector. Why give free seeds to someone who isn’t going to grow them? Wouldn’t it be better served if the free seed was actually grown.
From what Ive seen if someone asked for something here, they got it and pretty quick, even specific types of seeds. Even beggers can indeed be choosers. I was just asking for specific examples since a hypothetical general fear was presented. All of it is irrelevant to forum rules though. If chat is bad here, we can start a new thread as suggested for free seeds and chat and it wouldnt be off topic. Then this can be restarted free seeds and clones ONLY and wont have forum rule issues.
@Yetigrows and @FiveGar you both seem like fairly intelligent human beings and I have already explained the point of proper info dissemination and site organization. Now I just feel as if you two are trying to troll or play Devil’s advocate.
Jesus (sorry ) but we were just botching about the dibs thing …threw the whole vibe off and if I remember correctly that was mostly just give aways …now after that mr Dawson came in and gave it a vibe of friendliness giving away seeds to where people eventually were gifted a friendly hand and spread the wealth as well…throughout the day people would engage in convo random only contributing a giveaway throughout convos or you would log on at nine o’clock just like a game show to try to win a free pack ….now someone wants it strictly giveaway thread to draw all the people we just tried to put a end to …the dibbers… I haven’t seen people asking for seeds in weeks they have blended in ammoung the community …participating …I think the more we keep tampering and tweaking these rules made by moderators eventually it will be a ghost town here
Not at all. There is a fine line in community moderation and if you dont hear from the community its hard to see the line. You cant let it go crazy and you cant be too rigid. There is no one perfect answer/course of action. Trying to give perspective, not trolling, while acknowledging that the rules are the rules at the end of day, input be damned. So dont look at it like were trolling at all or the line gets harder to see and input gets easier to dismiss. But I’ve given my input so my part is done and will stick to giving away seeds here now.
