Freeman’s Stash - KC Brains Cyber Crystal

Hi @OGSince03

Lovely background story on the cyber crystal, sounds nostalgic, beautiful connection. Going through your thread I really enjoyed your journey.

I will have to check out your labwork with TC,very interesting to learn. Maybe I could use it for my old seedlines who are not sprouting reliably. Having the library of mothers like this is definitely a lot smaller

The plants are looking lush and the the way you describe it I’m very intrigued to have a try myself.

I saw that you said there were 80 spots for the wiki ,there’s still some places left and the wiki was still editable so I added my name but I don’t know if that’s still an option. Looks like you already shared a huge amount of seeds, very OG, so I would understand if the offer has expired.

Peace :v:

Hello all sorry for the absence as it’s been a crazy month! I had three letter returned for postage. 1 to Canada and two to Brazil. I will repackage as all are intact and will reship this week! Please bear with me!

@Afghaniman Im happy they found you well! I do hope you find some keepers. Please keep me informed as to what you find as I love to see these work back into the community. :fist::pray::seedling:

@Rastafarhigh Indeed there are open slots and I would be more than happy to send you a generous card! Please fill in your info so I can keep track and I will PM you with info!

Thank you for the kind words as well. I try to be open about everything so anyone can replicate it. I have done a little work to my Laminar flow hood and will complete it this week/weekend.

I will be adding some latches to keep the two together and seal.

Only major thing to do is cut holes for the fans and seal everything up before testing. I would like to get all my genetics in vitro so I can start consolidating space. I do hope the two fans will be enough as I will have to make a three way and replace the top board. :crossed_fingers:

@Rhino_buddy I have not forgotten you!!! Please forgive the lateness! :bowing_man::green_heart:

@Budderton You have not been forgotten either buddy! :bowing_man::green_heart:

Also… I kinda went and did a few things…

Thanks for the jolt @OGSince03 . I meant to message you but it looks like my instincts failed me and your letter did not arrive. Was it the one returned from Canada?

I’m envious of your hood! I spent so much time doing mycology work under a still air box but always planned on building a LFH just never collected enough roundtoits. Looking forward to seeing it in action!

This was the weekend before Helene in Brevard. Mt. Pisgah area. Sad how things changed so quickly and how blessed we were to leave before it hit…:bowing_man:

@Budderton no worries bud. I’ve not memorized your addy but it does not seem familiar which I assume yours is. I always go “oh yeah, duh” when I see yours so it’s probably not. Let’s try again shall we!? :fist::green_heart::pray:

For those interested in the TC trial.

Starting with the media itself:

1liter
Distilled water
25-30g Sugar
4.6g MS
4g Gellan Gum
1ml IBA

I am by no means an expert, just making an attempt to further my own education…

Pressure cooker or microwave can be used to sterilize the final media, however a pressure cooker is preferred as a microwave does not kill everything.

You want to start with distilled water filling 800ml of water in a mixing container. I used a 1lr glass beaker & stir/hot plate to help homogenize the media. Top off with distilled water to the 1000ml mark after all ingredients are added. Ph to 5.8.

Now you can prepare your containers to pour the media into. I chose to try two different types.

After you have you’re containers filled to the desired levels it’s time to sterilize everything with you’re pressure cooker or microwave. I chose to autoclave in a pressure cooker.

Fill pressure cooker to manual specs, mine called for 12courts of water. Place all containers you can safely fit inside not sitting in water. I balled up 4 small balls of tin foil and placed those at the bottom and then placed the grate on top to sit it up out of the water.

Make sure to undo each top. No lid can be on but lightly placed on top of each container. If any container top is secured on it can cause it to damage the container and likely others. Secure the pressure cooker lid properly and heat on high heat.

Once you have a moderate flow of steam coming through your exhaust port set a timer for 10 minutes. Once 10 minutes had passed I placed the weight on top of the exhaust port allowing the pressure to build to 15lbs. Once 15lbs of pressure was reached on the dial the weight also started to shake indicating 15lbs was reached. Start a new timer for 15 minutes and reduce burner temperature to a medium range to ensure no more pressure will build and maintain the 15lbs for a full 15 minutes.

Once 15 minutes has passed you can shut off your stove and allow the pressure to naturally dissipate. Do not try to open the cooker until it is safe to do so. Allow all containers to sit for a few days to see if any contaminants start to show. If all looks well proceed to start taking your cultures.

Moving onto culture procurement.

I labeled my deli style containers and left the test tubes alone for this attempt. I wanted to try a couple different things before going with the test tubes.

I started by taking a regular size clone and rinsing it for about 5 minutes in distilled water, then into a 2%bleach solution for 10-15 minutes. Finally back into distilled water to rinse.

I keep all my tools in a solution of 10% bleach to keep sanitized.

First container: Banana Breeze #1 and went with 4 cultures.

Second container: Banana Breeze #2 and I decided to go with 8 cultures, 4 being not what I would instinctively use. Stem nodes with no leaf.

Third container: Banana Breeze #3.

Fourth is Pacific Pie #1.

Fifth is Pacific Pie #2. I did 8 for the hell of it.

Spraying a 10% bleach solution on hands often and only opening containers for an extremely short period while inserting culture will help mitigate pathogens/microbes contaminating your media and cultures. If a plant has pathogens inside of the plant it will culture as well making it hard to determine the culprit.

This is stage one of a multi stage process so please bear with me. I will make a new batch of solution with a different mix of auxins/pgrs. I hope to be open and share it all!:fist::green_heart:

You’re totally good. I’ve been out of commission for nearly a month. Somehow I missed a tick and contacted Ehrlichiosis, I couldn’t sit/stand/lay still for 2 days. I got doxy and felt good enough to go support my friend, and went to her citizenship ceremony, and her mom brought covid with her. My wife and I ended up with covid for the first time. Fuck that virus! Finally was feeling better from that a few days ago and yesterday I went to the ER because of kidney stones. Damn that’s pain I don’t wish on anyone.

So I’m still feeling like crap, but I’ve made it back around OG.

Wow I am sorry to hear that friend. Covid can be bad enough and with the kidney stones… I understand! I hope you passed yours easier than I did mine. I was ready for life to end just for the pain to stop. Crazy to think it’s possible but it is.

Still waiting. Pain is much better, but…

This is for real, and not even the first time I’ve felt this way in the past month. I’m thinking I’ll be done by tomorrow hopefully.
