From SSeeDD to sail.. exploring SSDD, pollen chucks & Bodhi Crosses

Yeah I see the TK as well and called it in flower lol. I think the foxtail comes from the SSDD actually. My ssdd foxtails like crazy late in flower.

Maybe with a little more searching you can find a male similar to the one he used. Did you try to find one similar as best as you could when you were making the F1s?

As long as the taste matches whatever scent I should enjoy it. All will see 11 weeks of flowering to get them too amber up good. I will keep an eye out for the real special one.

Copy that!

This report has me smiling already. Iā€™m a big fan of the calming buds.

Most likely will when the time comes. Hats off to you brotha, Overgrow the world!

Iā€™m still out of likes, but you know it took Bodhi like 2+ years to find that male in the F1ā€™s right? Iā€™m around that long myself looking for a good ssdd f2 male to use as Iā€™ve given up looking through the F1ā€™s.

I did not, Thats more than a hunt. Iā€™d call that an expedition.

Dang thatā€™s unfortunate to hear all that time and not one stood out.
Curious where your looking next?

Iā€™m using the one you recommended here, ZereneStacker I think. I tried one or two other ones and liked Zerene more. Not sure Iā€™m even using it properly, I just open , drag folder, and then click align & focus stack (pmax). My camera settings are probably off too but I set it to 100 images and itā€™s taking 100 shots, even though it doesnā€™t appear to need that range of focus.

Maybe the focus step width needs to be increased a bit. I learn by tinkering around without fully understanding the settings Iā€™m changing haha.

No selection, it was the only male out of 4 beans popped when I made the F1s and F2s.

Also the Triple Sunshine was just a test to make sure that I didnā€™t mess up with the labeling. I will be culling it at some point because I put it in a few weeks later and donā€™t want an empty tent with just 1 plant in it. Also I have enough TS buds to hold me over for a while.

Seeing a lot of similarities with the mom here. Looks like it is a more compact plant with larger buds, but still looks very similar to my eye. Looks like thereā€™s a bit more leaf frost on the TSAxSSDD too. Cool to see.

vs mom

Oh yeah, I see the similarities.

Scouring the news often to see if weā€™re going to get screwed on our right to homegrow. Comical watching all the vultures come out. Suddenly everyone is an expert too!

All the experts use AeroGardens to grow their Cannabis. One more thing I need to buy :frowning: .

Also their expert that is frequently quoted has a nice deal for 2700$ you can learn how to grow Cannabis online over the course of 6 months.

Iā€™m just curious how much Hey Abby (who?), Gorilla, AeroGarden (arenā€™t those the things you see in infomercials to grow herbs on your kitchen counter?), Gardyn (who?) and Rise Gardens (WHO? Haha) paid to be the featured companies in that article. Is that from a local newspaper orā€¦?

And sixteen weeks is actually only four months, not six, soā€¦ Sign me up!!! Haha. Iā€™m extremely interested in the ā€œmarijuana seedsā€ that guy is hawking, too hahaā€¦ I wonder what they are. Iā€™m not even joking, I really do wanna know. Iā€™m thinking about hitting up My First Plant just so I can find out haha.

Haha yes, in other words what all the cannabis experts are using to cultivate the finest herbs.

Cleveland.com which is ā€œthe plain dealerā€, a major newspaper in Cleveland.

Spread the wisdom you gain from them to save us a few dollars!

Oh, Jesus, thatā€™s an article from The Plain Dealer? And they wonder why nobody trusts the media anymoreā€¦

Haha, I didnā€™t mean I was gonna sign up; I just thought Iā€™d ask them a few questions that made me seem legitimately interested enough to find out what ā€œmarijuana seedsā€ came with the class. I suspect that whatever they are, theyā€™re gonna turn people off from using those Rise Systems and the AeroGardens to grow their marijuana haha.

How the fuck did Gorilla get lumped in with all that other shit? I use those tents!!! I do. And now Iā€™m ashamedā€¦

I think thatā€™s the easiest one to use.

Yup, sounds like youā€™re doing it correctly. You can experiment with the different stacking modes, pmax is best for complex objects though (like buds with lots of nooks and hairs, etc).

Yeah I looked into how Nikon does the capture for stacking, sounds like it automatically decides how many shots it needs (depending on the mode itā€™s set to, auto or manual focus, etc). Iā€™m assuming if set to manual it will just do the number of shots you have specified there.

I think you want the focus step width as small as possible for macro stuff ( is that 1? or can you go 1/2 steps?)

Exactly how I do it, turn enough knobs and stuff until I figure out what they do and go from thereā€¦ turn to google if I need it!

Thatā€™s cool that Nikon has the ability to take stacked shots now, but, it doesnā€™t process the stacks, so youā€™re forced to use external softwareā€¦ probably for the best, the software gives you more options than they can build into the camera.

Thatā€™s just sad to see such blatant false advertising and informationā€¦ capitalism at itā€™s bestā€¦ smh.

Ahh, OK, good to know! I tried the other one (DMap) in Zerene a few times and there seemed to be a lot of image artifacts, especially in the background.

I initially had it at 1 and changed to 2 to see if it would take fewer shots, but still seemed to always end up around 70-100. Will probably change it back to 1 after reading that. 1 is the lowest it goes (1-10).

Yea thatā€™s the most immersive way for meā€¦ To hell with manuals !

Agreed. The little Iā€™ve seen tells me theyā€™re better at making cameras and lenses than software & maintenance. Supported and quality software would end up jacking up the price on their stuff anyways.

Yeah really. Iā€™ll take legalization over prohibition any day but that isnā€™t to say there arenā€™t flaws. So many people are being preyed upon already and the law hasnā€™t even gone into effect yet!

Preflowers are starting to form on the Triple Sunshines. 2 of them donā€™t look so great, the other 2 seem OK. I just transplanted them a day or 2 ago and roots are already coming out of the bottom, so things should turn around soon.

Oh my bad, it took bodhi almost 4 years to find another SSDD male in the F1ā€™s, not 2+ like I said.

Good find and adds context, thanks! It took him years and he knew what he was looking for. Ultimately it doesnā€™t really matter how long it took him to find it anyways. Heā€™s much more familiar with the line given that he made it, knows the traits of the parents, has way more plants to go through, an eye for selection, etc. The list is endless.

Iā€™m just pollen chucking here so I have an abundance of seeds I can be wasteful with haha. I culled a lot of SSDD F2 and TS x SSDD beans because plans changed a month or so back, and thatā€™s the freedom you have when there are 100s or 1000s of beans. If I bought the seeds it would be much more difficult to do that. Itā€™s fun throwing a few plants together and seeing what comes out as well.

Maybe the next male I pollen chuck will pass on great traits, maybe it will be a dud. Who knows, but Iā€™m still going to play around regardless. This is all a hobby and for fun anyways.

Not directed @ you holy, just clarifying my position for transparency. Iā€™m no breeder

I cut down my ssdd plants on day 70. Zero intersex traits. Very dense buds and extremely frosty plants.

Two plants almost smelled less after hanging, but they were fairly unimpressive anyway. The skunky smelling one definitely smells stronger, same smells. The rest of the plants really took on the blueberry butter smell to different degrees. Two of the plants really came out at the end and the strong smell was a pleasant surprise.

I can see myself growing ssdd again. Thank you for all the help and information along the way.
