G-13 is a US GOV. category for all Cannabis, it is not a name for an individual strain. The G-13 I smoked and grew in the 80’s had a large amount of the terpene linalool. At that time I had no idea about what terps were or how they worked. The market strategy was to charge more for the secret strain that didn’t make you paranoid and eased anxiety to the point that it could be called anxiety medication, that was the linalool effect and it made the buds smell like a citrus and tasted like lavender. When I grew it from clone I could see that it was a pure indica like a purple afghan strain, every one I knew that was growing at the time crossed their G-13 with some other indica strain to tighten up the buds. Over the last 40 years G-13 has been crossed with and just flat out remade by several different seed providers, so there is only a small chance these seeds are from the original strain and even if they are by some miracle of chance it will take several grows to finds a mother plant to clone that holds all the maxed out qualities to make it incredible like the original. The first part of the mission is to grow the seeds given to me by @Bobgrows said there were given to her by a reliable source, There was six seeds in the puck and all went into bottled water to crack the seeds open, this took about 72 hours with a water temp of 72F in darkness. Tap roots developed on 5 seeds and one just refused to pop, 5 seeds went to soil with taps from wet paper towel method that also took about 72 hours.
Then the boring wait to see what the leaves look like and determine if it’s a pure indica or a cross. 4 seeds broke the surface and started to grow and then I made a unique discovery with one seedling that had 3 very healthy cotyledons, that’s weird I thought to myself… but I did have a Northern lights do this back in the early 2000’s. Three leaf sets have continued at every node and I’m looking every watering to see if the new branches are sprouting 3 leaf sets like the main cola.
The first hurricane tore up the west coastline with flooding and my 8 month pregnant daughter moved in after her house flooded again. The second hurricane was much worse here and completely destroyed her home and caused major problems here. Lost both grow lights and had to move to outdoor to finish this seed run.
The thing I did not expect is these G-13 seeds are Feminized, all four plants are female. In order to make seeds two will become G-13 S-1 and two will be pollenated with OG Kush pollen provided by a friend.
