Finally got around to stringing up the net, transplanting, and tending to all these neglected plants. Spread some clover blend and some arugula for some cover crop and applied coconut, rootwise, quillaja, and diatomaceous earth to keep the isopods from wreaking more havoc. Hope this turns things around. I want to take some more clones and then I’ll either flower these or run the clones fresh since these are all further along than i want for a flower run.
Little bit of this, little bit if that, hopefully these plants will cheer up and give me some clones.
Ok, things are looking up. Everybody is recovering after being moved to the big pots with blumats, and getting some TLC.
I’ll take some clones soon, and then im going to flower everything. I dont know if keeping mothers is gonna be my thing unless i find something i cant live without, like a 5% haze or something exceptional. Maybe, a chain of clones though.
Some of these going now are really cool plants. The variegation on a ppp is cool and the wonkyness of the Purple Urkle bx is fun.
I laid the Colombian Golds over sideways and i think i will tie them down along the perimeter of my scrog screen to keep them managable.
Here are some pics:
Oh man, feeling triggered, lol, Monday morning visit from Ameren plotting out some gas line upgrade work that is to be done soon. They had to turn off our gas and then confirm that the furnace and everything relit properly. I scurried down to the basement and cleared a path, but there was no time to hide my stash or hash rosin gear so they had direct eyes on all that, and i know it really isnt a thing anymore, but im still feeling sketch, So thats dumb.
Its fine, the thing that i really bugs me about it is literally bugs. I dont like the idea of all these people that have been in and out of houses coming into mine, i dont even let friends in the basement.
Anyway, everything is growing really well after struggling pretty badly. I will take some more cuttings soon and will need to flower them right away.
Little update, everything is settled in. Im going to take clones as soon as i have time and then flip to flower mode:)
Here are some picks of the most interesting looking plants:
Purple Urkle BX looking kinda muty:
Zamaldelica F2 nice structure:
Blockhead Bx is beasting out:
Paeonia Purple Paralyzer with the awesome variegation:
Listened to the latest episode of Growcast featuring Michael Backes from sustainable village. He had some great tips for dialing in the blumats and calibrating the digital moisture meter they sell.
You can get your carrots set by making a hanging drip while you have the cap off of the bottom part of the carrot then dialing back two triangles if you’re on a pressure reducer you should get around 80 mbar, for gravity feed dial back one triangle. He also said that a range from about 60-120 mbar is what we want to shoot for in living soil beds.
To calibrate the digital moisture meter he says to take the screws off the top, remove the battery, put it back in then hold down the on button with the cap off the bottom, exposed to atmosphere, to zero it out. Then you should get more reliable readings.
This has been a slow grow. Today marks 6 months for all the plants i have going right now.
They were kept in cramped little 1 gallon pots up until just a few weeks ago. Their roots were gnawed on by isopods for a few days before they were finally plugged into the big fabric pots. I have to say they have recovered really well, they probably arent what they could be, but not bad. Ive taken clones, and will put the lights on 12/12 very soon. I was holding out until i could get some solid clones, really, i could have probably done things differently, but i think it will work out OK.
Here are some of the more interesting ones going now.

Gnarly Gran Pur Pur
Overall, things are looking pretty good except for a few leaves scattered around the room expressing displeasure about something. Probably time to get some soil testing going on.
What’s your temps and humidity like. It looks like low RH judging from the edge curl and leathery appearance of the leaves, which can cause more uptake of water and nutes that’s causing some necrosis.
Temps are on the low side, between 66-70 fahrenheit, humidity has been 68-70, which is higher than id like.
With those temps and humidity they will not be expirating excessively, the leaves look like they are trying to hold onto moisture. I see you have blue mats are you PH ing your water in the reservoir.
A soil test might be a good idea to see how balanced it is, something is definitely out of whack.
These plants were all vegged way too long in little 1gal pots, they also had their roots munched on by isopods/roly polies in those little 1gal pots before i transplanted them, so maybe that has something to do with it? Also, keep in mind that most of the room looks healthy, the problem leaves are just one or two, on 3 or 4 different plants. The gran pur pur plant has looked all gnarled from the start minus the necrosis. Hadn’t thought to ph the reservoir water since it does get buffered by the soil(oyster shell flour, gypsum in there)
Gypsum is a kind of neutral and won’t affect soil PH either way as it is balanced with Sulphur and Magnesium as well as the Calcium.
The oyster shell flour should be good for buffering, I find when I let city water sit in a bucket the PH rises quite a bit. Not sure if you use well or city water. Hopefully they won’t get worse, sometimes litfa is better than chasing a problem.
I will check the ph of the water, it is city water that i run through a carbon filter.
Ph of rez water is between 7 and 8 according to the test strip i have.
You might want to take a bit of soil from the root zone of the affected plants, mix it up with a little bit of the water from the rez, enough to get a test, and test its PH, I think it may be getting a high PH in the soil.
Ok, i havent noticed anymore unhappy leaves. Maybe it was the plants adjusting to their new environment. I got some Steinernema carpocapsae nematodes to hopefully knock back the isopod population. Sprayed them in the basement, worm bin, and front yard garden.
I switched the light cycle to 11/13 instead of 12/12 to get the Colombian Gold plants to start flowering but fucked up and left the lights on all night, ugh. Im a week into 12/12 so hopefully it is early enough to not matter too much, dammit.
I thinned out all the under carriage leaves to get some better air circulation and will be addressing the 74% RH as I get further into the flower cycle, i think it is probably ok for now but don’t want it that high going forward.
Potted up some clones too, they are happy, best clone round so far:)
Happy gardening everyone! Longest day of the year was long! We harvested our brassicas (cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage) Gonna have some awesome kraut and soups.
In the basement im just cruising. Had to turn on the dehumidifier though, because room temp is lower than i want 67 and RH is higher 75%, id be happy with 70 degrees and 62% RH.
Here are some random pictures of some of what’s growing on.
Zamaldelica F2 is my favorite right now based on structure and size. Im glad it has the bed all to its self.
I dont know what the Colombian Gold will do but it seems pretty happy right now. It doesnt appear to even be thinking about flowering yet. It could be male for all I know.
…and the variegated paeonia purple paralyzer
200! Full Moon. Garden is grooving on.

Way more crowded than id like. I went through and cleaned out some branches and leaves underneath that were never gonna see the light. Watered in some nematodes a few days ago to beat the isopods back some. Pretty sure some of these are going to be quicker than others so that should open up some space down the road for the longer flowering plants. I had to plug my dehumidifier in, i hate doing that because it is expensive to run.
