Keep it calibrated and stored in the storage solution and they should last for quite a while. I loved mine when I was doing hydro. Gave all that stuff to my brother though.

Hydrated it in kci for 24 hours after opening. Calibrated it and keeping kci in the cap per the instructions. Says to calibrate once a month. Even had a little symbol on the screen that lets me know when to recalibrate.
