Today’s wick test.

This might work for my Starter plants…
Filled res with 2qts of nutes.
About 1/2inch of net pot submerged.

After letting it sit with a full pot of coco for 5 minutes, the res level appeared about the same.

But the net pot of coco is obviously wet. Started pretty dry…only moist.
Pot a little heavier.

Seems like plenty of wetness to draw the roots down from starter plants above.

Now I need to let it sit longer to see if it wicks more from the res over time.

Later I’ll fill the res completely to test just how wet things can get up top. :umbrella:
And Test my overflow hack. :100:

I was thinking run 4 of these to see if the plants are worthy of the time in the big tent

Top once, short veg, sample keep clones

See how they produce and get bud at the same time

If it good next big Octopot run

Just thinking  :dash:

that’s genius. I love the overflow. so simple. I have one of these going

how do you drain the tray?

No drain with this tray flat on the floor.
Hopefully no overfilling and no need to mop up drippings.

Added another quart to bring level to about half way up net pot.

Letting it soak…wick

Bottom of fabric pot still dry. Fingers under the edges… all dry.

Solid plan.

Could these micros work for mothers? Chop back roots occasionally so res is not crammed??

Dual root zone with these Octos - I’ve never let my roots hang in nutes. A Lil shy.
Lol

I’m sure they could
I wish I had the space if I I saw light addict
On IG takes a mainline trunk and grafts 12 /16 moms on one plant but I won’t need a new tent and permission form
God herself ( wife of course) so 36 x 36 tent 1 Octopot holding 16 moms wow each branch a different mom mind blown :exploding_head:

Thanks @204medismoke @G-paS

Update on wicking.

Ok. It’s been filled and wicking for a couple hours.

The bottom 1inch of the fabric pot is wet to the touch.

Digging out the center. It starts getting moist to wet about half way to the bottom.

Probably wetter than I want for starting out. But good to know it’s not saturating the entire media when res is full.

Edit…
Nute level after 10 hour soak.
2gal fabric.

Bottom 2/3 moist to wet.

my 15/64 holes…

Doh. Applied too much pressure when drilling for my overflow. Sheesh. Lol

I’ll patch it up and drill a different corner.

Ordered another set anyway. :100:

Can you do some plastic wielding , with a soldering iron , to fix it ???
: )

Should be easy fix. Patch from the inside with a square of plastic. Whip up some 2part epoxy to glue it in place.
