Looks like good IMO to me, if it was black or a weird color I might think again
I have a 4 or 5 month old FAA that has a pretty decent layer of white beard on top of it. I just push it down into the liquid every now and then.
I made one thats made out of cherries, but that one is stable
Did someone try to make Water-Soluble Calcium?
Thats what i get. Its day 9 and in liquid ther is no more rection of bubbles but on the top there are still few.
In the recipe it said:
After this time, check if bubbles are present in the solution. If bubbles are not present, the WCA is āsaturatedā ā proceed to step 8. If bubbles are present, add more roasted eggshells and let stand for 1 to 2 more days. Repeat until the solution stops producing bubbles.
Personaly i think that process is finished
Any advice would be helpfull thanks
Iāve never had it stop bubblingā¦ Iād say youād be good after 9 days.
Thanks for info @BeagleZ
Excellent book download I have to study, wanted to share it here:
You just gave me two good ideas reading your post. First, Iāve been trying to grow aloe and comfrey outdoor, but I was way too busy this summer building a greenhouse. Anyways, I just started getting into microgreens and it seems like one of the best answers to a N based FPJ. I bought 2 bags of cattle feed grain that works well as microgreens(oat and wheat berries). I juiced some wheatgrass last night and they did taste like lawn at first, but the after taste was very sweet. Iām actually excited to think of this because I can get trays of wheatgrass in about a week. The leftover root mats go great in the worm bin too. I moved my BSF operation indoors this year. I usually do outdoor bins, but if I want BSF, I have to move them inside for the winterā¦ The 2nd thing that caught my attention was clam shells. My friend dropped some off and I wasnāt exactly sure what to do with them. Iām not exactly sure what kind of shellfish it was, but they are THICK. You would need a hammer and anvil to break these apart.
I was having problems getting enough liquid out of a canna FPJ that I just started making canna JADAM JLF instead. How has it been working for you though, maybe I was doing something wrongā¦
Sometimes if the ferment is a bit ādryā, Iāll add a bit of water with LABS to it.
Iām curious as to how the JLF performed. Iāve got two 5 gallon buckets out back: one is food trimmings (no animals, no oils), the other is a boat load of whole dandelions. Both covers over with water, and have been there 6 months. Gonna try em out soon!
Iāve had canna-JLF work fantastic, by far the best fertilizer Iāve used/made. I basically put in a whole pot plant of materials - rootballs at the bottom, chopped up stems in the middle, some trim that was too low quality to bother hashing, then a few handfuls of wild grass and other greens around the garden on top. Then a pinch of sea salt and a handful of leaf mold like cho jr likes, but I added some āyellow nitrogenā with the water. Wasnāt long before it was bubbling and boiling like a witches brew! Gentle enough I could toss unmeasured hand-shovel fulls into my watering can and the plants just thrived.
disclaimer: the brew had been āagedā over winter before getting used in the spring
Thanks CB! Iām super curious to try it for myself!
So itās looking like Iām gonna have a lot of excess plant matter, since I need to trim this monster and 14 others like her before putting them into flowerā¦
Letās say I want to ferment it all somehow rather than throwing it in the compost heap out back, but still donāt have any LABS made up. Will this work if I just throw the leaves into a jar with an equal weight of sugar, without the LABS, and close it up for a few months? Is LABS even supposed to be part of making FPJ? Iām thinking I need to add something as a starter culture. I have worm castings that I use in brewing compost teaā¦ I also have sour milk. If a starter culture is needed, will those be useful?
Iām not married to the idea of making FPJ, btw. Just looking for the simplest instructions to turn these plants into usable liquid plant food of some sort.
It is not required to add LAB to FPJ, it will get in there all on its own if you donāt have any on hand.
When making FPJ out of cannabis you need a lot of material as it doesnāt really give off much liquid like Comfrey for example.
I have been making JLF out my trim, stretches it out a bit further.
It only takes 7 days at most to ferment a FPJ
Hereās my current batch still cookingā¦
I actually prefer utilizing JADAM methods for cannabis material.
As @BeagleZ mentioned, you can mix it with sugar and wait, but the liquid content sucks.
JADAM method is:
Plants go in a bucket (mine is 5 gal)
Throw one handful of compost in
Fill bucket with dechlorinated water
Let it sit for a month
Done!
Now you can dilute 1 cup in 2 gallons of water, and youāre using cannabis to feed cannabis.
Fair warning, it stinks something awful until itās fully fermented, and that takes 3-6 months depending on weather
I donāt know where this practice started, but itās not KNF.
I think people want to shortcut the process, but Cho never adds it to ferments, and. As Iāve said before, KNF is microlife based, so itās dependent on the widest diversity available.
LABS ferments favor LA bacteria, so if youāre just going to add LABS to everything, they wonāt allow other microbes to colonize, so you might as well not waste the time. If youāre using LABS to ferment other inputs, then the only input you have is LABSā¦ even if it was supposed to be FPJ, or whatever else.
I have used LAB in making FPJ before. My thinking on it is thisā¦
I am not adding anymore extra lactose which is what allows the LAB to out-compete anything else while making/propagating the LAB. Rather in this case the lactobacillus is already propagated and is there to keep everyone in check. I think of them as police at this point, just keeping the masses in line.
The LAB will enter the material whether you add it or not, im just giving it a little extra protection against unwanted pathogens.
Thoughts there @HeadyBearAdventures ?
agree Iāve never seen Cho say this as a practice, I heard it from C.T. I think somewhere and i may have started the practice here unknowingly
Excellent. Canāt get much simpler than this! Iām guessing it doesnāt make that much difference what sort of compostā¦ but that if I want to venture out into my yard or down to a stream to pick up a handful of silty river soil, those would offer some IMO benefits as well, compared to store-bought EWC or the compost Iām already using in my pots?
Stinking isnāt much of an issue. Apparently Iāve had a 5-gallon bucket of molasses fermenting in my garage for the past three years or so and never realized it. It might be rum by now, havenāt actually opened it up to checkā¦
Oh, and just to double-check, no sugar/molasses involved in this method?
Leaf mold or active soil from your area will get you much much better results than store bought.
I would recomend more of a leaf litter rather than silt, you want the bacteria that is actively breaking down the organic matter. the more visible mycelium the better!
Dont forget a pinch of sea salt
