Awesome thank you!!
Do yāall use bottle water for the IMO or when you do any of the foliar, or is tap Okay? I read differing opinions on this so thought i would ask the collective
I use my well water for everything.
I think all water sources have their own challenges whether it be ph, chlorine, high mineral content etc.
Our well has the high iron that smells a bit and turns our shower a little brown. Also it comes out really cold which can be a problem early on.
Yeah thatās what I was wondering, about the antibacterialsā¦from my understanding theres not only chlorine but alot of chloramine these days in city water(US). Itās not as easy to remove as chlorine. It can be boiled out, but that would require quite a bit of effort, and I donāt have an r/o filter
However, I saw tests from some university(canāt remember where, but Iām sure I could find it) that showed that chlorine in water did basically nothing to microbes except in the first few cm or inches in a soil sample and they easily repopluated after just a short period. However, if you put a concentration of IMO or what have you in such water, would that null your efforts?
I wonder what the city water is like in Korea? I have seen rainwater being listed as the water many times, would make sense if Korea is wet alot?
I add roughly a tsp of molasses to my buckets of water and bubble for 24 hours. Supposed to remove chlorine and chloramine. Added food for the microbes also.
Okay, that seems to be a rough concensus from what im reading as well.
However supposedly The half life of chloramine is 24 hours, so idk how quickly it converts to chlorine and then would get filtered out. I woukd to see this put to a test with a 'scope.
But youāre not using straight tap water though, always adding organic elements and then bubbling? Figure I might as well start building a rain water collector then if Iām going to use this stuff in my yard for large swatches of ground.
I have a filter on my water line into my corner. I use this water or the filtered water from my fridge.
Okay, so exnay on the tap water eh if I donāt want to have to work at it.
Iām going to attempt to make LABS, Banana FFJ, and maybe random weeds around my yard into a concoction, idk what that one would be called, still learning the acronyms, thatās FPJ?
I have bamboo, and thought it was the devil because of how it spreads, but apparently itās a great tool for KNF. Itās like the lecture series you showed me, I can work against the environment I have and use all my effort on trying to make it work my way or just go with the flow.
I am using water straight from the tap. The only organic elements I use are molasses when bubbling.
What do people think about using a never before used paint can for fpj? Supposedly it has some sort of coating in there.
Well giving it a shot so weāll see. Iāll report back here.
They say not to use metal cause the the ferment can react to the metal and leave unwanted oxides in the finished product.
Ok thatās kinda what I was wondering. Iāll maybe transfer this to a large jar. I wasnāt sure if the coating that stops the paint from eating the can also stops that.
I use tap water with no issues, but your tap may vary
Yeah, Iāve been using the fridge water cause it takes out the chlorine
mine is chlorinated too actually. I do wonder if my JMS would come out extra bubbly if I dechlorinated first, but my ferments come out a-ok without bothering. I think people can be a little over fussy when it comes to organics
Yeah, I found that it slows down the process a little bit when cloning or when making the actual inputs and I assumed it was the chlorine and chlorimine so I use the fridge water for any kind of sprays with the labs, ferments, silica, aloe, etc just to be sure. Of course, now they are testing for the āforever chemicals,ā these days and finding that shit everywhere, so who knows whatās in the water unless you have an RO machine. Capitalism and unfettered pollution for the win, eh?
When Iām just watering I use the tap water or even my dehumidifier water sometimes if Iām feeling lazy haha.
I saw an MIT study where they said the chlorine only ends up affecting about an inch into the compost layer for the microbes but the microbes easily repopulated to the levels seen before the chlorinated water after less than 24 hours
I have a Boogie Blue filter thatās about a year old. Battling with the idea of replacing it. Similar to phing and mixing nutes somehow. Control over trust.
Peace
I get this all the time, looks like you have some good action . Itās all good
What is the FPJ made of?
