Wow. You are not kidding @Mr.Sparkle
Mixing all your seeds together is… extreme.
But I think you reasoning is fair, and sometimes we need to take risks.
I support your decision! And can’t wait to see what comes from it!
yeah extreme to pretty much everyone here, but hey takes the biases out of it and if its a good plant it will show and will allow me to be more determinant with selections too.
i should start up 8-10 more seeds of something today
Day 12, may of forgot i started more seeds though got them planted yesterday morning which should have a bunch popping up tomorrow, but may call Saturday day 0 for ease of tracking, also roots are starting to find the drain holes on the pots so thats good, likely again will get the autowaters going this weekend though may be turning them on and off till the plants can handle the water amount either that or set them really low for watering duration.
Day 14/0 Need to get the autowaters hooked up and or just give them a water, and for the little ones actually had 10 seeds planted in those 9 cells and one didn’t make it so need to move the one cell that was 2 in it to the one unoccupied cell.
Day 18/4 Need to fill the reservoirs this morning and water the starting cell seedlings, also removed two runts and the three in the left side on the right reservoir are males so would like to see them grow out a bit more for possible pollen or i just may remove them, and will be looking into selections over the next couple weeks to further reduce.
Day 22 Reduced and culled the little ones, just wanted to do a reset and i was hampering them too much in the starter cells especially being autos. Need to give these ones a good watering and will be changing up my watering timers to try something out, im gonna dual stage them in run one timer to control the rest preventign andy nighttime and really early morning waterings, but once thats on the others will take over the regular watering events with the plan being more very short waterings eventually building to saturation before night time and early morning dry back.
Or at least thats the idea, just need to cut and rerun the pump wires off a separate 12v or eventual get another one of my base timers as they can support 12vdc as well with some models, jsut happen to have a Christmas light timer or two i can use right now.
That was a bold move. I myself would not do that, but every master has his own trick.
I don’t relay much on strain names, but on strain lineage.
I prefer to do a one seed of each strain till fill space. Let them grow and look the end result after taking clones. If I like it much, keep the clone. If it was mehhh (not worth keeping), then next time another different strain seed will took his place.
If it is male and have good aromas, keep it. After some time I have many different “good” females from different strains (that is a relative term, what is good for one grower perhaps is not good for another).
Then, as I filled weed reserves, put the male in play and do a full pollinization to all different females.(I’m starting this phase now)
After that, do a “wipe out”, I plan to keep only the one (or two)best fem and replace all the others with new seeds/strains. I like variety.
In summary, I do not mix because I want to know the lineage of the seeds, and when given away, anyone knows where it comes.
Well, sorry for long text, I disserted a lot.
One thing with doing only one seed is pheno expression, first seed, second, and third of the same type might be meh but that forth one comes along and surprises you and especially now the amount of polyhybrids and or just non worked out lines its standard you need to run many to get a good picture of what they will do and or show.
Also after one has crossed recrossed, brought back in and crossed again then refined the name even if it shows its linage gets cumbersome to the point of its just a blur where at least for me it came down to abbreviation upon abbreviations ex ((((abv x abv) x (abv x abvf2)) x (abv x (abv x (abv x abvf3))))
Day 26 and growing, currently trying to figure out what the volumetric watering capacity of my coco/perlite is but the bin i have of it is on the wetter side so threw a pot of it in with the plants to dry out quicker so i can weight it once dry.
Day 30 Finally hooked up the auto waters with the new watering style, just need to figure out watering amount and how many cycles to achieve what im looking for, gonna take a bit of trail and also with bigger plants than these that will change too, as these are small due to me holdign them back in small containers at the start.
Also got some more seeds in some mix in the left chamber but no point taking a photo of just pots at the moment.
Day 32 Figuring out the watering, seems alright as starts watering at 530 in the morning and is done saturating the media by time i get up without much run off, and it drys down about 30% before lights off.
So still tinkering and things will change as i have bigger plants than these.
Plants wise, back left i flopped the top on, and front right if i had a plant to place in its spot it would be tossed just due to growth characteristics as its a short stubby ones that will eventually lead to being too dense and potential mold issues, plus not showing trichomes like the rest.
And we have 3 seedlings up so day 0 for them, should start some more seeds.
Still moving along, older plants are building and looking decent apart from being small they are quite healthy and working on bud building.
Little ones some seedlings failed and the older ones one may get yanked but im gonna wait till the fresh ones get a bit bigger, saying that it will likely leave a chamber open to run some of @ReikoX seeds he just sent me, so we will give those a go as a test run as i have space to do so.
Otherwise the high ec feeds seem to be doing fine, and im slowly playing with the watering frequency and cycles as they are on the drier side come the later side of the day and night cycle.
Wasn’t watching over the last couple days with the older plants running dry with not being fully saturated when the pump timers were on so made the root zone EC creep up quite high and some lockout to leaves as runoff was in the 5.5+EC range, so ran some new feed water through and their on fresh reservoirs which were almost empty previously.
As for the younger plants, im mixed over probably will keep two of the mid aged one and the young ones we will see, just saw a couple little leaf things that normally i would possibly cull for.
