Just getting my 2nd and 3rd closet set up this weekend and i will be starting 15 of the C99xDL you so kindly sent me.I am also expecting Marks 4 auto strains to soon arrive. Then i can begin to work on using the males of the autos with my female 79MWCB and DBHP and the males of the MWCB and DBHP with the female autos. Will grow a bunch of those seeds and the ones that show auto i will then hit them again and see if i can get an auto flowering MauwiWowiCherryBomb and an auto flower DragonbloodHashplant…Thanks to your generosity and all the great info you provide in your thread, it inspires me to be a better grower each day.So that i can in turn send you some of my auto creations along with some photoperiod MWCB and DBHP seeds and some SourTangie and RugburnOG crosses.

So I finally got around to messing with your packaging here for these as I wanted to repack all my stuff into smaller vials and wanted to comment on a few things.

Did you say you 3d printed these little containers you shipped the seeds in? It came out really good!

Did you do 100% infil? I’d say you could probably get by with 20% or so but irregardless, if you did less than 50% you can’t tell other than weight

My only other thought is it seems like a bit of a tight-fit height-wise, a couple seeds(1-2) in each area were damaged but not enough that I think they might not be viable. If it was 1-2mm taller/thicker I’d think then it should accommodate everything perfectly.

Anyways, that’s all I had, hope to pop at least one of these here soon. Thank you again for letting me have some :slightly_smiling_face:

Things are looking great in there as usual! Hope they’re looking how you want em too when you get back ^^

Well those were resin printed so no infill setting, as for height they can’t be higher due to mail size restrictions and most likely any seeds that were say split may of been that way already or slightly damaged would be cause they were standing on end and went through a roller, easy fix is to not pack them as much but pffff who wants less seeds

Ah ok! I wondered about if they were resin printed. The top and bottom’s are just so smooth!

Aw really? I would think 1 more mm would squeeze through :stuck_out_tongue: but as you said, the couple seeds might’ve been that way before shipping and don’t actually need it to be any taller.

Thanks ^^

Hey @Mr.Sparkle, been going through a couple years worth of your journals and had some questions if you get time… would definitely appreciate it!

I’m really burnt to a crisp on rockwool right now and thinking of trying some Coco.

1.) I noticed that in the 2019 thread it looked like you germed your seeds in paper towels, removed the seed covers and then just put them vertically into the coco with the head above ground… Is that accurate? Is this your favorite method for starting seeds in coco?

2.) I also noticed that for recirculation you basically drill a hole in the top of the rez the lines up with holes in the bottom of the pots. I’m wondering if you’ve ever had issues with roots growing out of the bottom of the pot into the rez?

3.) What about coco getting into the rez and clogging the drip lines etc?

4.) If you were only going to grow a single autoflowering plant to fill a 2x2 space, what size pot would you use approximately? I’m thinking of doing maybe 1 gallon of coco/perlite 50/50 or maybe 2-3 liters of pure coco.

Thank you for any replies!

  1. not the method i use anymore but that method does work, what i do now is soak the seeds i want in water that has a spritz or two of h202 in it for bacteria and oxygen concentration reasons and helps with floating the seeds vs sinking them, they go in a container “old contact case” that sits on top of my lights providing some extra heat which is around 30ish degrees C, once those split and start throwing a small tap route, they get direct planted and covered in there precharged coco pots, takes about 2 days to break the surface.

If the seeds are sitting in water in the container longer than say 2 days i usually do a water swap out.

  1. They grow out of their pot and yes some try to grow down into the res but you just rip off the roots that grow out side of the container periodically every couple of weeks or so or as needed really is a minor thing.

  2. My lines are large enough where typically that isn’t an issue, but you just have to be observant if say one plant is drier than the others and that may indicate a blocked or obstructed nozzle, only have had it once were a chunk has stopped my small pump, but i could easily just put a chunk of filter foam in the intake tube to filter any of these bigger particles. Also typically past week 3 the only coco particles of larger nature that come back into the res are from what may get washed over the top, the roots typically stop anything escaping the bottom.

  3. For a single plant in 4sqft a gallon/4liters seems as reasonable starting point, whether more to add some buffer room for watering styles, or less to keep things purposefully small id be playing in that 3-6liter range myself maybe upwards of 8L/2gallons max if i was wanting to push things while fighting back the plant and or have more spread out watering events. I preferer pure coco as perlite really if just a space filler imo, but does help with dusty fine coco that can get too soggy but otherwise if decent coco it isn’t needed.

Well time to get moving again.

Day 1 “New Cycle”

4 Poisoned Rose Cookie Devils on the left in big pots and 2 Lemon Pie’s on the right.

Also i already removed 5 plants which ill explain below, and i dunked some older “DarkDevil Short” seeds which are from 2016 last night as a dice roll dictated running some, Maybe we’ll find a good plant or two to make a new DarkSpark branch from but im gonna be really critical on what i keep as i have a guideline for what im looking for.

As for the the early culls, when you have plenty of seeds it allows you to be picky.

Here’s a shot of the PRCD’s from yesterday “Day 0”, the top row and the center left i kept, removing the bottom 3 and center right.

As for the Fast Bud - Lemon Pies one of the 3 seeds that i received from that killabeez-seedbank contest was a dud, tried helping it along when it wouldn’t crack its shell during soak, then it needed help shedding its shell showing an abnormal root to stem transition that doomed it.

Leaving only two guess it doesn’t matter which one ill reverse typically id pick the best one we will see in a week.

Day 3

Already had a watering mishap, timer for the bigger pots was going when it shouldn’t have so reset it yesterday morning well found out later in the evening why it was off it wasn’t set to every 720min like i wanted but had jumped a decimal place on the timer making it every 720sec, so those pots were sat on towels to wick out any standing water in the pots and i turned off the timer for them for now, ill start it back up tomorrow possibly.

Also have 4 DDS seeds planted in pots in the other chamber at the moment, no lights for them yet but they will get moved over once they start thinking about emerging in a day or two, the other seeds i started with them havent sprouted yet and alot sunk and kind of turned the water slightly milky “enzymes and soaking and such” which happens but usually when it does those seeds don’t sprout or very few do so i changed the water on them and refloated by them letting them dry a tiny bit on a piece of paper towel before going back into the new water.

Day 7

Moved the big pots over to the left side last night, they are looking fine but kinda so so imo, and got the right side situated this morning by planting some new sprouted seeds in those new pot, the old darksparks were duds, these will be some Purple Kush H1 autos that i got from @Grease_Monkey , so we will see how this go. The Lemon Pies have been running a little bit too wet so they have been off water for a day and a bit, gonna wait a bit before turning it back on again.

Day 10/1

Kinda moving slow, though the main reason is very low humidity just cause of the outside temps have dropped so once you have that air warmed up to cabinet temps then it doesn’t have much moisture in it. So been giving the odd water spray here and there to help.

Also the new little ones have emerged, we will see how they shape up over the next couple days before deciding if there are any weekling that need to be pulled, and also made up a fresh CS batch last night and have started spraying the back Lemon Pie in the right cab.

Oh and the glass jar with yellow liquid in it, is just some apple cider vinegar with some soap and water with a cling wrap top with some holes poked in it, i noticed a fungus gnat flying around last night but couldn’t get it but the trap took care of it by this morning, just gonna leave it there for another day and move it to the other cab for a couple days as a precautionary.

looking great man as always everytime I think I’m cruising along and things are “good” all I have to do is check in on you and realize yeah keep dreaming bud so clean and “white” lol anyway keep it up man us aspiring growers need ocasional reminders that good is never good enough

Well i wouldn’t say that as what is good is subjective to everyone individually as experience, means, tools and or learned abilities at hand to what one deems good enough dictates that.

We should achieve or do better in everyday things as a way of moving forward and building on what we are or have already done allowing us to progress personally, but we all have to watch out not to fall into that trap of “if we can’t be the best at that thing we shouldn’t even try” with bars that are so easily set high in our current information age as its so easy for all of us to compare ourselves to people who may have more experience, time or knowledge in a given subject.

Just of it, give some credit to yourself for what you have done so far and be proud of it and don’t let others dissuade you in that

I think that’s my personal favorite aspect of all this really there is no limit to how “good” any of us can be theres no end to the journey so to speak no matter how far I come theres still more journey to go no limit to goals or information learned and believeme I struggled many times with that voice in my head telling me “well that failed you suck just quit” but nope it helps to have access to things like OG and the fine folks here to realize that it is attainable and there is no done or good enough excuse my rambling I am very medicated also can’t type but long story well long I enjoy your grow style very much

Day 12/3

Slowly moving along, the left side is starting to look better its probably starting to produce a bit of humidity that plus daily sprayings have helped, right side still mopey increased the watering on the Lemon Pies and the Purple kush seedlings are starting, two are looking weak but ill let them go for now.
