Thanks for the input @madouesse. Hopefully you can clear up my last 3 questions. 1 ive been told “Your environment is the most important part, after the material, of washing hash. If you’re doing it properly, you shouldn’t even be using ice, only cold water. If you’re trying to wash with cold water in a machine that’s full of 40 degree water in a room that’s 80 degrees in July, the amount of product and quality of the heads you’re going to be able to collect will be affected.” 2 do you prefer dry sifting or static tek over the ice water rosin? Lastly are you using fresh uncured bud or dried and cured bud for this?
I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination .
I don’t do dry sift , I did it a couple of times in the past but I can’t take the sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose that last a couple of hours even after Benadryl or any allergy pills lol
I have had thots and theories about the process but Joe has pushed things to the next level .
I haven’t been fortunate enough to do any large runs with fresh frozen, just dry trim.
My friends have been happy , they even sent some out for testing and what I considered the “B” grade came back at 53.4% thc .
Is it full melt, no but I work with what I have .
If I was going to was with only water my thots would be to run a chiller as cold as it runs.
I would think that flake ice would be better but Joe can show you trophies that ice cubes work just fine .
Hi, I am looking to make some ice water hash from dry, cured, unfrozen, untrimmed herb (Peach Panther cultivar). Great tasting sparkly flower that has less dense buds and wouldbetrim full of nice trichomes. I have a set of 5gal bags (8), a bucket, and a food mixer. I watched the drill and shadows vid. Any advice vis a vis freezing, rehydrating, or overall process would be greatly appreciated. How much dry to use (=1000 fresh frozen), for example. Has anyone had any experience mixing a larger batch in a 30gal container then pouring the ‘bottom’ in the bagged bucket? (Just to add to the sins against best hash procedure:) Thanks!
Freeze the dried weed over night then just make the batch like normal. Warning it’ll come out darker than fresh buds, especially if it’s older weed. Old weed = black hash. Just make sure to push the dried buds under water, before starting the mix or they could bounce out. if you are using a large ass container to do the mix with multitudes of kilos use a bucket to scoop out the mix and pour it through the screens one at a time. A pump can pump it out etc once you remove the pulped up weed.
Yes i, will do. Freshly dried, toward clearer trichs (very few amber), supposed to be a cup winning hash making cut I am seeing less return in trimming to smoke vs bubble hash, it has alot of coated sugar leaves… Next year freeze fresh at harvest, thanks for the advice!
What an epic thread! I’m just a simple country hash maker, have only dabbled in dry sifting and making temple balls.
I wrap them in parchment paper and then use a sticker label to keep track of strains while I let them cure in a small mason jar in my wine fridge.
I have a paki kush and afghani heirloom that I like to use for hash.
However, I am also loving sativa hash! Here is a frosty, oily, piney strain I have been working on (Zamaldelica x Kona Gold x Kauai Electric). It’s potent and electric and always sends me on adventurous side quests.
You should try your hand at making some live extracts!
For anyone looking to make a washer.
£10/15 from ebay, you supply the bucket and USB power
That’s awesome! Thanks for posting!
Probably dumb question but what do you do with your bud chips? Do you smoke them?
I keep them and if I want to impress someone I’ll shine ultraviolet light on 'em. They light up real strange!
JoeCrowe: “Dude, do you see how much cat urine my buds produce!?”
Friend: “…wtf?”
those look tasty! I make em too and my friends love their flavor… and the almost instant high…
Did someone say “full melt”? It’s not sticky, and I’ll take a photo once I scoop it for dabs.
I am the full melt hash dabber.
How long it take you to dig all that outta yer ears @JoeCrowe ?
I call that shit “shatter hash” because if you leave it at 18C and then try and use the dab tool to get a piece it shatters into little shards. You have to hold it in your hand first, before it becomes flexible.
Delightful!
