Holy's Garden (Part 1)

And then there were 2

Goji #2 and #3 both had balls growing on 2 separate nodes about 3/4 of the way to the top of the plant. Tossed em both and their clones. I refuse to run, keep, or breed, a hermie. I don’t care if it’s the best herb on earth, it ain’t gonna happenin

So I’m left with Goji #1, she’s looking the best of the group anyways.

I topped Goji 4-7 and put the tops in the aerocloner. Totally messed up the #7, stem broke on the clone as I was shaving it so it’s just barely sticking out of the bottom of the neoprene puck, not sure it’ll root but it might. Can always take a clone when I flip em to flower. Will give em a few days to recover, then repot into 1 gals for a week and then they’re going into flower regardless. See what happens.

NL5HSS#5 is looking great, pistils starting to change… this is day 41 of flower for her.

Oh ok, cool I’ll check that out then. Hoping I can fit 3 coin flips in a Christmas card and still be under that 1/4 inch/5mm limit or whatever.

Thanks for the heads-up ^^

I’m sure I haven’t read it all, but I have seen a few goji conversations. This is the first I’ve heard about herms, weird. Most people just clip a few balls and go on? Ha, reading that back again, it doesn’t sound good :joy:

Well, good for you. I wouldn’t want to support that trait either. If you know it wasn’t stressed, then yeah, that’s the right thing to do. It hurts, but you gotta do, what you gotta do.

Yeah I’ve not heard of herms on the gojis either. I really wasn’t expecting that.

But yeah no light leaks, no power outages, no super draught… literally just topped and maybe nute deficiency and that’s it for possible stess.

I’ve grown 6 other plants in the same tent no issues and my NL that’s been flowering next to it for longer than it’s been flowering, is perfect. And Goji #1 doesn’t have any balls either.

So yeah

I could pick em off but I don’t wanna risk seeding my NL, I need a pure bud run :joy: and yeah I don’t want to perpetuate that if I do decide to go to f4’s or outcross it.

Definitely going to be keeping a magnifying glass on the #1 and #4-7 when I take those to flower. I’ll keep whatever doesn’t show balls for sure.

Interesting stuff for sure. Keep a good eye out! If it herms over a little nute def, I dont want to grow it.

This at least makes me feel a bit better about the situation
Might have to soak a Wedding Cake and a G.M.O. while I’m at it.

Welp, gonna have to get more vials :joy:

Got the NL5HSS #5 girl packaged up. She came out to 110x 12-seed packs, and I kept back 200 seeds for myself so right around 1540 seeds from that one girl. 11 are going out special delivery, and the other 99 vials will be heading to sebring in a couple weeks once I can get vials and finish packing the #4 girl and then label the 300+ baggies.

In other news, I got the Goji 4-7 repotted into 1 gallon fabrics.

This was immediately after transplant and watering, they were pretty dry before I did it so hence the sadness. Should perk up here in a day or so ^^

The solo cups are, on the left, the clone of the #1 Goji I have flowering that I accidentally pulled when I tossed the other clones :man_facepalming: I replanted it and cut the top and put it in the aerocloner just to be safe.
The right solo cup is the FLC still attempting reveg.
The front two is the cat grass.

What size coin flips work out best with the hose washers?
Roughly, how many seeds per?

Thanx and Cheers

I went with the 2x2 inch coin flips and rubber Garden Hose Washers for 3/4" garden hoses.

Kinda depends on the size of the seeds but I’d say around 15 seeds max for fat indica seeds, and maybe 20 or so if their smaller sativa seeds. That would be with basically no room for the seeds to move around but they’d fit.

That is super OG of you to help Sebring make somebody’s day.

The kindness here on OG gets me every time. It’s a super cool place to be a part of.

I wish I had known I was gonna get ~100 packs of seeds from each girl, I would’ve done it as a pure preservation run with a wiki from the get-go. As-is, gonna be first come first served sans for the few people I can handle to mail directly. Should be good though. Least I know I can do it now and I have a few other strains that need preserved(Purple NL#2 anyone?) so this won’t be the last! ^^

So I think we’re around 6 weeks in reveg for Franco’s Lemon Cheese and check what I found this morning…

:heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

Got a new growth tip! And I think I see at least two more trying to poke out of the bud as well, so I think we’re gonna be successful and I keep my mom around  Going to make bringing the lemon cheese a LOT easier than if I lost her

Maybe even the goji?

Yeah! Long as there’s a male in the last 4 plants I got out of that pack, and no more fckn hermies, I’ll do a seed run of the goji’s as soon as i’m done doing this here bud run.

If somehow there’s no Goji Male(unlikely but not unheard of) I’m up to put it to a vote.
This is what I can do if no male:

  1. Goji F3 x NL5HSS #1 - This would be easiest as I have everything already but my NL male is untested
  2. Pop Goji F2’s from Barefrog to find a male and do Goji OG F3 x Goji OG F2… Goji OG BX? Goji OG IX?
  3. Pop Goji QM BX F2 and do Goji OG F3 x Goji QM BX F2 for an even weirder bx, hope you like Snow Lotus :joy:

I may do the Goji Lights cross regardless

I’ve told this story before…but I had the honor of meeting Franco in 2011 while in Amsterdam. Super cool guy, very down to earth!

Oh man, I’m jealous  that’s awesome! He definitely seemed real down to earth, no nonsense, cared greatly for the plant and the people. I’ve seen most of the videos with him in it just to hear what he has to say, not even for the video itself :joy: It’s why I picked up the strain. And to donate to his family with the purchase.

I wish there were regs, I’d F2 them in a heart beat, but there’s only fem’s since it’s his two favorite girls, so I’ll have to keep working it back to this F1 clone with males that look like the mom in order to nail it down I think. Mine is at least representative of the strain description…

Really, I’ll have to see what my NL5HSS male does to the offspring. Worst case, I have Hazeman’s UK Cheese BX1 I could find a cheesy male in to redo this BX1 with or work in later if it needs it

Edit: :bulb: I have a couple STS kits and 2 more fem seeds, think doing an f2 with 2 fem’s is a good idea?

I’m not sure, but wouldn’t that make it an s2? Super interesting stuff to learn from here.

H2 maybe? It was two girls to make my seed… still F1’s right even though they’re fem’s? If I just repeat what they did just with my fem F1’s, it’d be Fem F2’s and not an S1… now if I just used the STS on my one girl and pollinated herself then I’d have S1’s for sure, but I have these two fem seeds left so I figure that might be a better way to make more seeds that are most similar to her

OK, so I thought that since it was a fem, it was self pollinated, but yes if you use sts to pollinate another plant, then it’s F1, I believe. I was confused.

Check these out

Some really weird looking… calyxs… looks like a cupping leaf with a calyx on top but then one or two awfully round looking balls. It’s real hard to get a clear picture since they’re so small. Wondering if this last one is thinking about hermying. It’s on like the 4th node of every branch, same spot the others were in, these just look more female… but still not normal IME
