yeah dude, poolshock every 3 days or so. Longest I’ve accidentally waited to dose it is 5 days and not really noticed any issues but 3-4 would be my go-to. The chlorine smell dissipates by 3 days. I haven’t had to drain and refill my res at all this run. Zero root issues. Just good solid growth. I will never go back to bennies in dwc. Poolshock for the win for sure sure.
Hmmm…I may have to dig put my dwc.
Great to see your plants rebound so strong!!
I would go for it, I don’t think you can go wrong with it as long as you stay up on the dosing and keep it under 5ppm chlorine. I’ve been doing 3ppm so far.
Moar waiting Getting there though. Can definitely tell a difference just based on where the airstones are in the tubs. We’re almost 7" tall.
Russian Snow
Purple MAC
The RSnow is drinking and eating for sure, the PMAC is like on the cusp of max nutes. I need to just swap out a couple gallons but I’ve been lazy and hoping she’ll just power through it. Gonna give it a few more days and see. Need at least double this height before flower. Still at least 2 more weeks to go.
Alright, topped off both totes and added a pinch of epsom salt to each, sitting just under 1 EC on both totes.
For the Purple MAC I had to replace one of my airstones(was brand new wtf) and reposition them closer to the pot, seems to be working better for the roots. The nice new root masses were growing out where there was more air/bubbles and compared to the roots on the Russian Snow, yeah that’s definitely a thing. So that should be fixed now. Not seeing much change overnight but what I can see is a definite improvement.
Great line up very interesting thread
Seems both my clones aren’t doing much. Tossed the Russian Snow clone and I’m getting ready to toss the Purple MAC clone as I don’t really need them anyways. Was just gonna toss them before my next run as-is but wanted to have them in the meantime just in case… Still have beans of both the RS and the PM so no worries there.
Attempting to clone my Godberry mom again as she seems to not be too happy in her air-pot. Think I just messed that up everywhere since its a mix of miracle grow from the first pot i had her in, and then happy frog+perlite. I’m positive I didn’t pack the pot like you’re supposed to and just yeah, not having a good time. Mistakes were made. Really feels like I have zero idea about herb in soil and its just a big guessing game for me. Peppers and potatos? No problem, green as can be for the whole grow and plenty of tasty peppers and potatos! but herb? problems damn near the whole way
So now that I’ll be down to 3 plants and basically nothing in my veg tent, I’m getting real antsy about popping some mephisto beans in there or something. Sad part is, the tent is only a 2x2x4 and I don’t think that’s gonna cut it. I’d also prefer to run them DWC so yeah… Need that height… Tent prices are like double what they were a few months ago and I can’t really afford another light setup either at the moment… Need another stimulus check Really want a 4x4x7 tent or two and then repurpose my 3x3x7 to be the veg tent or something… Should’ve just done that when I bought the 2x2 smh… May have to just wait and see… fun times
Nothing really new on the 2 main plants yet. Got some new root growth on the PM now that I’ve moved the air stones around. Just slowly getting taller… Next time I’m not gonna transplant from soil, really slowing me down over here.
I say the Godberry mom is sad but I guess she’s really not looking too bad…
But I still want to redo her from scratch with a new clone. Will give me another chance to try and get the soil right and more time to keep her going along.
I picked up some Ocean Forest soil to go with my Happy Frog, and some more net pots of varying sizes.
Really trying to work out the logistics to see if I can get an auto going in the same time and place it takes to finish these 2 photos. I already made a small DWC bucket out of an old litter container but i’m not positive I’ll be able to or not yet. Would need a bigger veg/auto tent, or just run her outside the tent… We’ll see.
In other news, two days after moving the air stones to be more under the Purple Mac
That was yesterday morning, there’s even more now.
I also drained and refilled both tote’s today as it’s been about a month since the last one. Sterile is
a wonderful thing. Going with Canna series for these two as that’s really the only bloom style fert I have and I might as well use it for veg too sine I have it. Did the Aqua Vega A+B at 3ml/gal. CaliMagic at 1ml/gal. 2ml/gal of Diamond Nectar and 1ml/gal of Floranectar. Then an extra 2ppm of chlorine from poolshock. Came out to PH 5.75 and 485 ppms with my tap water which is roughly what they were at before the res change. Will get some more pics of them in a bit.
A day into using canna nutes, they’re both about 7 inches tall. Getting around 25k lux at the canopy, which should come out to around ~385 ppfd.
Russian Snow
Purple MAC
Can definitely tell which one is happy about it
This mac is being a bit of a drama queen but the colors are mostly right on her now.
And slime all over the Russian Snow roots
Sadly I didn’t get pics of her. Not sure what happened. Been a whole 2 days since res swap and bam, roots covered in brown snotty slime. This is the same shit that happened last time I ran canna aqua vega, and I made sure to use my normal amount of poolshock when I did the swap. May just stick with H&G Aqua Flakes for DWC…
I decided to double up on the poolshock for now to get me to 4ppm free chlorine in both totes, and I gave her roots a dunk into a bowl of water and hydrogen peroxide. The long roots that have been there from the beginning melted right off, the rest look pretty good but man… I need to scrub the whole res now but I didn’t have time to before work so hopefully things are looking better by the time I get home. The Purple MAC had the same exact water from the same tote and she’s looking fine but man, this sucks. The Russian Snow visually looks fine as of this morning, hoping I caught it in time.
In other news, pretty sure the purple mac clone is straight dead but there’s a nubbin of a root trying to come out so I built a little bubble cloner out of an old tupperware container, some duct tape, and a flat airstone. Nothing fancy but should get the job done better than than this heated tray thing.
Tent cam shot!
RS on the left, PM on the right. Still lookin good, got another 6 hours before I can check on them
Well it seems the peroxide bath and added poolshock have knocked out the slime. The roots aren’t sparkly bright white but they’re white and no longer covered in brown snot. Was going to drain and refill the res with aqua flakes, I actually already set up the new 10gal res with it, but i’m way too sore from cleaning the house to do the swap right now. And yeah, she’s looking fine again so I’m just gonna leave it for now and keep a strong eye on it and keep up on the poolshock.
Well done! Don’t get carried away now and over do it on the pool shock. I did that and gave the girls chlorine burn.
Thanks! yeah that’s definitely my next fear lol trying to keep that amount in balance, i’m trying to stay under 5ppm regardless but its a bit of a guessing game on when it dissipates…
Anything to be looking out for on chlorine burn? Like what it looks like?
Aaaand full tote bleach cleans were in order. Definite build-up in both and the Purple MAC was starting to look sad, although her roots look fine. Did the same peroxide dump just in case. Fun times.
I went back to H&G Aqua Flakes at 2ml/gal. Calimagic at 1ml/gal. DiamondNectar still at 2ml/gal. The Aqua Flakes are a tad more concentrated than Canna’s Aqua line so it comes out to about the same ppm. ~460-475 @ 0.5 with my tap water. Will get some pics tomorrow.
Yeah, it looks similar to calcium deficiency with the small brown spots on the leaves, mostly near the top at first but then moves to all the older leaves. As it continues the spots tend to connect together into patches that run along the veins of the leaf. I will try to dig up the photos when i have time and post them.
I dont seem to be able to find any photos. I may not have taken any. Sorry.
It took me a while to figure out what was happening as i misdiagnosed it as Cal/Mag deficiency as it looked like a lack of calcium in the early stages so that might help to explain what to look for.
ah no worries. I had tried googling before I asked you and came up with nada lol
The description is at least super helpful though so thanks for that ^^
Yes, it was the lack of available photos that made it hard for me to identify it. I eventually found one that convinced me. However, I am not able to find it again.
Wow, that looks great. I love the setup. Looks pretty straight forward. It was a wild one up until harvest but you seem to be pretty good at diagnosing and fixing problems.
