Yes , I do cycle crops . Squash and Brassicas go in different areas particularly because of pests. Gotta keep the bugs guessing. Tomatoes go in the same rows sometimes for a couple years but I ammend the beds every other year and I plant the second year between the old holes.

Ok last question and I’m done, then for storage after canning and all, like the potatoes and stuff did you dig out a root cellar?

I can soup , salsa , tomatoes and green beans and Venison. I vacuum seal and freeze squash , peppers and corn etc. Potatoes get dried well and stored in basement for winter, but until then I just get them when I want some. I cure the cannabis and bag it in a zip lock and then vacuum seal it as well.

By dried like dehydrated? Or just literally air dried ?

Just air dry so they won’t rot. It toughens the peel for storage

I recommend it! So many helpful aspects of the cold frame. Warmth, Humidity , protection from weather and animals. Etc.

Tomatoes will start going out in one more week. Also broccoli and cabbage 100s of seedlings in a few days. Peas and carrots and Chard in a tub.

I grow enough starts to fill up my space. I grow corn and squash and Cucumbers and melons , beans etc by seeding in place. The tomatoes peppers broccoli, cabbage Chard, and culinary herbs are started in the frame. I try to keep my cost near 200. A year so I have to grow seeds to get it filled.I had poor germination on peppers but @duo sent a nice selection I have on a heat mat.

Ok that’s a great setup, that’s kinda what I hopefully am saving for to move down to the remote sections of the Midwest and have a mini farm. But have never done anything above a basic garden or the complete other spectrum of full commercial.

The landscape fabric saves so much time. I try to limit my preparation to about 20 hours max per year. Weeding is the biggest time waster. I only pull the few around each plant stalk until it gets mulch or starts to shade the spot. One year I uncover and ammend the beds and recover them. This year I left the cover on and added twenty ft of space and some extra rabbit wire. I will have a few weeds in the cracks and holes but not many.

Very clean garden. Our veggie garden will look like a lazy stoners come harvest. Yet it always seems to provide.

Mine will have more weeds than you think, sometimes a whole bush weed will grow just where I put in a staple to hold the fabric. If I don’t cover , trees will grow in there.
