I do save it for cleaning pipes and such but I don’t bother straining it. I have noticed that the pipes need a rinse in fresh isopropyl or they end up gross and sticky on the outside.

Same. I use the filtered for the soaking or salt/alcohol shaking and then do a rinse with fresh before running in cold water.
It makes a difference buying the stuff by the gallon at hydro shops vs ml in the pharmacy or dollarstore.

I use 420 cleaner. It is cheap if you get it in bulk. Works way faster than alcohol. I just reuse it. Don’t use the one with salt. They make plugs also.

If your using a lighter and not a heating element lighter, your already putting chemicals in your bong. Using something like an herb iron to combust with makes for a cleaner experience all around.
Iso and salt is great. I always rinse with water the iso out 3 times, then I follow up with vinegar, which is a glass cleaner/deodorizer.
I dont combust anymore but still use a bong to vape. Bongs are great.

Yeah…After 50+ years of daily I get the chemicals thing/lighters/etc.
Maybe I’m too old and jaded. OK…I am old and jaded. I’ve always said if I STARTED smoking dabs in '71 I’d probably still enjoy 'em today. But I didn’t. I’ve never tasted a vape/dab I truly enjoyed. So different than the spark and the flame.
I’d love to sit with some of you and see if you could change my mind.

I’m almost 40 so much younger than you but totally agree… Simple hand rolled joints are the only thing I consume besides occasional infused coconut oil. Something about the flick of the lighter and the burning flower is all I need. Used to rip everything from bongs bubblers bowls gravity bongs dabs and on and on but lungs don’t appreciate it anymore

I still love to smoke a good joint…especially with a hash whip in it. 
However…these days I only smoke with a filter rig. It cleans out so much gunk. Between the hash bongs and the filter I don’t have any crud in my lungs like the old “lung cookie” days of hacking up nasties. It’s made a huge difference for me. Gotta roll with a crutch or it will gunk up at the tip of the filter.
This is the filter and the tar/etc it took out of one joint that isn’t in my lungs. Just wipe out the gunk and keep smoking til it needs cleaned off again. As you can see I cleaned it 5-6 times on that one joint.
@ just under 40 it would be wise to do all you can to minimize the impacts. We never did and a bunch of my friends can’t/won’t/don’t smoke anymore. COPD is real. Be safe out there folks.

Yeah man I definitely use a filter tip on all of my hand rolled joints and honestly don’t smoke that much even though it’s every day. Also just small hits not trying to inhale massive amounts anymore. We were pretty stupid back in the day too homemade gravity bongs with dirty ass water bottles absolutely horrible for your lungs. I think the years of smoking crack really did the damage though… haha jk not my cup of tea

I’ve got an Arizer Air II that I had for about 5 years. I love it. I also like to roll joints occasionally. I’ve got an onyx bowl too, but it’s my least preferred method.

This is my go to glass cleaner. GrungeOff is also reusable, but for me the really great feature is it smells of citrus, not VOCs. To my nose, there is absolutely no VOC odor!
I’ve tried a bunch of cleaners. I’d use 99% Iso and rock salt if all the shaking didn’t bother my shoulder, but it does. In some ways it sucks being old. All of the other cleaners I’ve tried really smell of VOCs. I got suckered into trying Naked. Fucking liars. Still stunk of VOCs, though perhaps not as much as the others I tried.
On the down side, it is more expensive than, for example, Formula420 Original Cleaner.
@Hemp, can you smell VOCs in the 420?

I put this guy in a mason jar of alcohol in the microwave for ten second bursts untill the jar is hot.
Id be wary of fumed pipes maybe, if theres metalic stuff in there…also dont lid the jar, duh
