Title pretty much says it all, just curious how long people quarantine new clones they bring in? I’ve typically avoided bringing it cuts just to be safe, but ended up rolling the dice on something at the grow shop down the street from me. So far I’ve had it in a tent by itself for 2 weeks now I think and have been giving preventative sprays of tweetmint just in case. I haven’t noticed any signs of pests really and the new growth has been looking really good on it since and don’t know when I should feel safe to move it in with my other plants. I did hit check some leaves that had some damage when I got it with a scope for bugs and didn’t see anything too concerning, I thought I might’ve seen an aphid or something but I’ve been checking it pretty close and have only seen one so it might have been some kind of beneficial mite from may living soil I transplanted into since I haven’t seen any other signs of pests. So far I’m probably going to keep spraying for and see what else I see.
If you are worried you can always submerge your clones in water for about 20 minutes and they should be good to go…….
If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s Joe’s Protocol 0…
Great info.

Cloning a stick seems radical, but it definitely works! I don’t think it’ll get rid of powdery mildew(it won’t) but you can finish that parasite off really easy using a sulfur spray.
Awesome thank you, I’ll go check out that thread!
They did let me know they’d given a sulphur spray at the shop as part of their IPM routine and it had some white residue on the leaves when I got it from that, but its all cleaned up now and haven’t seen any signs of PM.
Hey bud, I’ve been reading up on sulpher recently for improving terps and and a pm/bug spray.
I’ve looked around google but I can’t find any info about applying it to coco/hydro crops, can you tell me the basics for a safe level foliar spray?
2-3 weeks.
I go with 1 tablespoon 90%+ sulfur per liter of water. 1/2 tablespoon will work! You have to make sure you never spray it in bloom, or within 30 days of an oil based application. A mixture of oil and sulfur will burn the plants.
For mildew eradication, you have to spray the plant again in 14 days, to finish off any dormant colony.
Here’s the clone is question, looks pretty good, just gave another spray of tweetmint before the lights come on. But it’s a mesa mint from weed should taste good I got for $25 for this size of a plant lol. I mostly just wanted to see how they were for the clones at this shop.
Thanks very much @JoeCrowe that’s great I appreciate it
Is it wet…or are the leaves shiny?
Safers End all will take care of the bugs Bonide powered sulpher will kill the PM Dead always after lights out never in flower .I do two weeks first week End all to kill bugs second week twords the end i wash clones in clean cold Tap water with soapnut water as cold as i can get it let the tap run for a couple min get her cold then syran wrapped solos upside down in water soaked for 20 min up and down twisting motion every 5 min to get all the residual Safers change the water once to be sure that and sulpher dont mix too much fatty acids in it so make sure you get everything ,separately in spaced intervals thier fine, then i drip dry sitting right side up and i spray the living shit out of them with sulpher one TBS to a gallon of tap water top to bottom under every leaf and over and spray the whole cup down and top of dirt and let her rip.Cleans domes and trays with with bleach and clean scissors accordingly and your good to go.Clean as the driven snow.
I’ve got a problem with fruit flies breeding in my coco, can I give them a shake of sulphur or water it into the roots?
In regards to improving terps I’m reading that adding epsom salts is effectively adding sulphur?
Thanks guys
I can’t speak on the epsom salt/sulphur question, but mosquito bits and sticky traps keep me free of fungus gnats. I would water into the roots and fungus gnats and the larva live in the soil. The mosquito bits help get the larva taken care of and the sticky traps catch the adults that are flying and keep them from laying more eggs.
I know a layer of perlite works for fungus gnats
epsom salts are magnesium sulfate.
I don’t know anything about it but according to Google epsom salts consists of magnesium sulphate, sulphur and oxygen?
yep it’s MgSO4, so the sulfate is SO4. Sulfates react with calcium in the soil, leading to a slight drop in ph. Never actually tested the ph drop myself though, it could be infinitesimal. I should try it some time, come to think of it. A good soil chemistry test, can a quarter cup of epsom salts alter the ph? Inquiring minds…
ehhh the likely answer is no that magnesium sulfate won’t alter the ph in a noticeable way because it absorbs both of those elements at the same time. ← subject to verification though.
