On average about 4 hours. Much love
I’d chip away at it a little at a time, an hour or two here and there until I finish. Several days at least.
Oops!
I need to clarify after thinking about it some…
that wasn’t 300g i done in 1 hour, I’ll need to weigh it again and subtract 300g to get the figure it’s circa 160g.
I done a bit more trimming tonight, I’m astonished, not only is it much quicker and more thorough I’m not hating it?
One of the plants is a genetic foxtail it should be a trim nightmare, 120g of that and 145g of blueberry 2 hours 20 minutes.
I’ve one left to do i expect that’ll be done before morning.
Have a nice new year everyone and best wishes for 2023
It helps to not hate it. I hate it… lol
I can relate to that, this is new experience to me
I hated as much as anyone I’m hoping this lasts.
Just wait for the right plant to come along and BOOM! You’ll hate it with the rest of us
LOVE THE FOXTAILING!!. It looks like what my Manitoba Poison pulled off outdoors this summer. Forearm sized branches of foxtail fluff but smokes and tastes soooooooo good!
GREAT WORK!
Im gonna get slated for saying this BUT throw them in a bowl trimmer and your done in a quarter of the time.
I used my bowl trimmer for the blackberry fire outdoor. It works great. I now have 2-3 ounces of shake. I’m going to make RSO, have to pick up some everclear.
I swear by mine @ColeLennon. I can go through 20+ oz in around 2 hours if it’s all the same strain and like you say you have the added bonus of the trim being collected in the bowl to make RSO and various other extracts.
I’m probably the slowest one here. I do about an ounce an hour, but I trim in 2 stages. First stage removes all the plant material that doesn’t have good trichome coverage, and the 2nd stage gives me buds that look like this:
or this:
and this:
And this also gives me trim that looks like this:
…which I use to make RSO or bubble hash.
I got my last plant trimmed up this afternoon.
There’s a mutation of 3 buds sites on the lower nodes.
The buds in general from it are on the small side, some decent buds but overall meah.
103g
Your flowers look beautiful! Are you using a pick? Scissors? Combo? I’ve never thought of using a pick, I don’t know why, perfect idea. Thank you for that, why I love this place.
It very much depends,
Fluffy Sativa dry
1lb per 8 hrs
Wet about 6
Solid buds about 3 -4 hours per lb wet, slightly more if dry.
5 lbs took me 3 days in 6 hour shifts one night staying up till 2 after work. But I wasn’t flying through it either so I guess I was being a slowpoke.Twords the end I was so miserable I was hand chucking lowers that we’re going to me dry sift anyway into the trim pile.I have opted for for plants at moderate yeild rather that 2 mutants that beat the shit out of me.Who am I kidding though watch all 6 of my outside turn into Freaks and I’m pulling double duty. It’s like that one guy that sells you a tea cup pig and it turns out to be a Yorkshire Hog
You can reduce your time drastically by cutting off all the fan leaves the night before.
Switching back and forth between fan leaf sugar leaf fan leaf takes forever and it’s not very ergonomic. It’s better on your hands/wrists too.
Last time I think I did a pound and a half in 3ish hours.
I have found that trim time can be highly variable, depending on how leafy the nuggs are… as some have hinted, there are some nuggs that all you need to do is pull off a leaf or two and they are good to go… a pound in 30 minutes… while others need you to go in and closely trim bazillion of leaflets
I used to hire teams of people, they were trimmers at the club during the day who got invited to after-hours trim parties where they were paid by the pound, and they would take between 1-8 hours to trim a pound… some people can kick out the trims quickly while others spend a lot of time on the same nuggets And a lot of the time the quick trimmers did a better job
I have found that, with my leafiest plant-- Bubba Kush, if I focus on removing every leaflet it can take 20 minutes to clean an oz., but if I trim them like a trimming machine… just holding the scissors at the outer edge and cutting the leaflets down to the level of the rest of the buds, I can trim a pound in an hour to hour and 20 minutes. YMMV… it depends on how closely you trim and how many leaflets need to be removed.
just cut it off the stems, seal it and stuff it in your freezer. problem solved.
