How to get up to 1,5 GPW with basic system and 600w HPS

I just had to chime in and say, @Kvakos, dude, this thread is genius! This is what i love about OG, the education it spreads. It should be starred or pinned or whatever yall call it… Yes, a properly ran 600 will easily destroy a m2… and that its not that hard to do. Again, such an excellent post man!

17th day of lower

notice position and direction of circulation fan, pointed over tops, under bulb to carbon filter.

Plants are in great condition.

I have noticed over long periond of time that less means more in using nutrients. This round it was last time when i go with EC high as 1.8 with flushes every 3 weeks.

Now i dont go over 1.5-.1.6. I am still getting same results, healthy plants and not over salted medium!

Hi @Kvakos great thread :scream: this is exactly the profesional approach I really love about growers and only few of them are able to do that :muscle: Keep it going.

I Have a few questions

My watering technique is that I water every plant individualy with big amount of water. About 5 litres every plant every two days. I Believe that that is the Best technique you can possibly do because you always flush old nutrients with every watering. Is it corect to think that I dont need to flush at all? Except Last days… I always measure every plants Ec and pH individualy so I can exactly see if anything bad is happening. I watered my plants Yesterday and everysingle one had pH 5,8 and Ec around 2.0 which is good I supose

I Have exactly 8 main branches on every plant but few of them are behind the others and are hidden Under. Do you think I should cut them and not expect they Will catch with the rest? I am 7 days in flower.

Thanks for this. I needed to hear (ready) this again. I wanted to raise my Ec to 2000 but I wont do it. Plants are looking Just Fine

What about the UV Light? I read somewhere that it stresses out the plants to produce more trichomes and Frost and aroma to the detriment of bud production. I wanted to try it but I am not sure…Should I?

So you are saying that I shouldnt point my fan directly to the plants at this stage? Let the air flow above them?

Keep growing! :muscle:

Hi, this wants little experience. You should know which brands are good enough to produce good buds. but if they are smaller just little bit then other tops , they should be fine.

EC 2,0 is little higher but no extreme, i thing you should do it like you do

IN SHORT UV (A, B) is useless no extra crystal or mass production, no difference in chemical analysis.

I do not point fun directly to plants in any stage.

Ye UV A & B are useless but the UVC lights (fluoroscent tubes etc) boost trichome / THC production, but I am not sure as there been any major studies into it that what is the actual gain.

I have personally stayed away from UVC because they are damaging rays and while I’d get a small increase in power per gram, I am afraid that it would cause a hit to my gram per watt ratio. So I rather have more bud that is good potency rather than less but of excellent potency.

I believe everything matters, we just haven’t figured out how. Jumping on board fully like this doesn’t allow you any room to grow if your knowledge base changes. UV A and B may not do some of what we thought but to say useless is a bit much.

I concur brother @Kvakos. I can wait till costs come down. 600-1000 wts of HPS does just fine for me. :cowboy_hat_face:

I managed 1.4 with 200w (not entirely commercial) setup for 600$. So yes equivalent to 600w would be for circa 1200-1500$.

But I must say that I am still rookie and I really think that, someone like you Kvakos, would be able to get close to 2 GpW.

I did not expect miracles, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised. Anyway essentially agree with you guys. I’m a bit of a fan and money didn’t interest me when Im buying light.

UV-B I tried  Yes, the myth of greater trichomes production has brought me to it. I have not seen a difference with or without. but yet I would not say that do nothing

UVC maybe boost trichomes, but at what price… Destroy plant tissues. Im with UVC sterilize growbox.

Please elaborate on “bending knees”. Is this a product or technique? Great grow, concise and informative post. Love the post it notes! :cowboy_hat_face:

product…

meant in terms of grower´s gain. lately i saw few other grovers using UV-A UV-B with same results as me. no difference or mutated buds. no true gain.

I respect your opinion but am not ready to cut it out of my garden on your word. I don’t think it is magic but everything is going well.

Edit: You never asked me to cut it out i realize that.

Thanks for a great informative post brother @Kvakos. Please don’t go too far. Knowledge is power and I feel bigger and stronger already! Much respect…:cowboy_hat_face:

New guy question - I still dont get what that ‘bending knees’ thing is. Anyone have a link or more details on exactly how to use these bending knees and where to get them?

Is that something you use to bend the stem 90 degrees? Do you tie the stem to these things with string or?

It sounds like they are used instead of super cropping?

in Central Europe they have in each “growshop”…

Basicly its primitive LST technique. Im using these knees to maintain about the same height of the plants

It time to move on little bit

As you can see on 1st photo, these type of leaves i am “harvesting” from bottom branches. I never cut healty leaf.

pH 5.9
EC 1,7

right now there is nothing special to do. you need only good start and some care from start, little work with bending branches and then not over nutrient your plants.

They look on point! Give her what she wants and she will return the favor in spades.

I am surprised you found a leaf that wasn’t dark green,

Great pics of a professional grow.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, of course. many, but this are discarded leaves and if everything is okay, they are beatifully yellow, no brown, curling and so on.
