Pazzo's Perpetual Multi Strain Grow Journal

It’s been probably 10 years since I’ve done a grow journal and now that I’ve found Overgrow is back and it’s the website that’s taught me everything I needed to know to start growing back in the day, I figured I should give back and start a new grow journal here.

I don’t have any pics from when they were younger but this journal is at least starting from a perfect spot, almost 2 weeks into flower! Should have some bud porn in no time!:crossed_fingers:

I’ll post the few pics I have in the next couple posts and then I’ll try to keep up with updates as much as I can. Here are the strains I currently have in flower:

Super Lemon Haze
Holy Grail Kush
Tangerine
Gorilla Glue #4
Pineapple Express
Critical +
Charlottes Web

I normally don’t have so many plants on the same cycle but thats how it worked out this time… As time goes on I’ll be slowly working in plants as some finish to keep a perpetual grow going. At least this gives you guys a chance to see the differences between each strain at the same ages. :+1:

As for my set up and nutrients I am currently flowering under 2 600w HPS with a 6" Hydrofarm fan with speed control and a few normal oscillating fans for air circulation. The temps hover around 72 during the day and 65 at night with a humidity of about 60%. I’m growing in COCO and using the simplistic “Lucas Formula” for the time being because it gets great results and it’s simple.

DAY 7 Flower:

All plants are in 2L pots. I plan on getting 2 3x3 trays to give them more separation this weekend.

Day 10 Flower:

Minimal stretch so far, I’m guessing because of all the topping I did. :+1:

How long have you been using the Lucas?

Lookin good dude. Dont worry. Ill get you off that monsanto stuff and get ya into some natural farming;)

I absolutely love your grow space! Its getting very crowdy there!

Air-cooled hoods are not used so often here in CZ… (people here try to save as much as possible - also there are false myths about reducing lamp output due to glass shielding).

You’ve got a lot of green mass, looks like it could be spread to much wider area

I don’t see any carbon filter - you don’t filter smell?

Anyway it definitely takes some discipline to water this manually … and wait for the bloom

I believe this also. Am i wrong?

good heat resistant crystal or pyrex can filter as low as 5% … I always preferred to have 15 C° of temp. less on the canopy than a 5% more of light… bulbs lose as much as 10℅ in 6 months anyway so…

I’ve been using the Lucas formula off and on for a few years, I got a bunch of additives too but I just wanted to go back to a simple version to get my feet wet again… I shut down for a few months cause I got root aphids and thrips from other growers I got clones from… never doing that again…

Haha my first grows were all organic and I’ve even done my own super soil before. Since I’ve had issues with bugs I decided not to do organic for the time being because I feel like I’ve always gotten more bugs with organic growing but that could just be how it’s worked out for me…

Thanks a lot, it’s a good grow Space for sure, using about a 9’ x 4’ area for flowering but I can always add more in the future if I wanted too. I usually SCROG in 2 gallon pots but I wanted to go for more of a SOG type grow this round… I don’t have a carbon filter yet but I do plan on getting one because the smell gets pretty strong for sure, it vents to my garage and you can start to smell it through the garage door.

I personally haven’t ever really heard that glass diminishes the output but it’s possible I guess…

From physics standpoint there is of course probably some amount of light absorption, but I think it is completely negligible… I strongly doubt it can exceed 5%

Me and my friends have used cool tube many times without any visible differences.

Of course it would be better to google out some scientific materials about this subject… It would be worthwhile …

updated: Found this answer pretty complex on the topic:

Glass, with a simple refractive index, does not “absorb” light, it is transparent. Therefore the amount of light that emerges on the other side, for a given angle of incidence, is independent of the thickness of the glass.

Instead, some of the incident light is reflected from the first boundary as the light enters the glass, and some is reflected from the second boundary as it exits the glass. Perhaps this is what you are calculating? Have a look at Fresnel Equations.

Of course, real materials do absorb/scatter light, but you need a complex refractive index to sort that out. Do you have a complex refractive index? If you do then the light is exponentially attenuated as it travels through the material, but the amount of intensity attenuation depends on the (vacuum) wavelength of the light, λ , and the path length through the glass, roughly as exp(−4πκx/λ), where κ is the imaginary part of the refractive index and x is the path length (which will be t for normal incidence, but larger for non-normal incidence).

So in theory we need to get complex refractive index from the manufacturer of shield…

They are pretty big for SOG  … For how many days have you vegged?

Nice looking garden. I’ve been doing more and more coco gardens lately. Just great performance. Dont ya just love how little pots make big plants with coco?.

Hey, since you run lucas… Have you tried canna?. Did you think the performance was similar?

Lotus tends to troll people that aren’t doing no-till.

I agree with you on the bug issue, I like to use compressed coco and there are no bugs. IPM for a coco grow is mainly just monitoring. It reduces your chances of insects for sure. On the flipside of things, insects can find their way in grows. A larger grow facility requires the use of a tyvek suit before entry.

I used to grow DWC from seed many years ago and went a long time not ever seeing a single pest.

They were in ridiculously small 2.5" pots that I cloned them into for over a month and I did several tops to get them bushy and then transplanted into the 2L pots for about 2 weeks before I flowered if I remember right, once they were transplanted they exploded. I never planned on keeping them all to flower but I figured if it had the space I might as well… at 2 weeks flowering today and the stretch has been minimal so I hope there’s not too much more.

Thanks and ya coco is pretty good stuff to grow in, just gotta keep up with watering and small pots really do seem to get great results, better then when I’ve used larger pots with coco sometimes. By the time the grow is done I’m sure I’ll be watering daily…

I’ve never actually tried canna myself but my buddy uses it and gets great results, might be worth trying a side by side sometime with the Lucas formula and canna.

duuuuudeee you did the opposite of what you should of done. super soil is way too hot. you need good soil with a good soil life going on. anything lays eggs in my soil and they become food. spider mites, aphids, thrips, you name it. no chance at all

i do like the troll route :joy: its my favorite way. maybe one day someone will listen and be like “DAMN this guys onto something”

Day 14 Flower:

Not much to report but here’s a couple pics anyways.
I should be able to clean up my 3’x3’ trays this weekend thus giving them all a bit more room to spread out and get better light distribution. I did purposely keep them bunched together during the stretch so they wouldn’t get too bushy cause I had so many flowering I was worried about space but now that the stretch should be done fairly soon I think I’ll have just enough room to let them all have a little breathing room. I’ve never grown this many at one time before so I just hope I can keep up with all their needs. :crossed_fingers:

@GrowerGoneWild, @Pazzo… But ya used in organics neem or natural “crisantemos piretrinas”?
