Humidifier and white dust

So here goes. Just need some hints or tips here. I’ve a 4ftx4ftx7ft space. Humidity as a standered is pretty shit. Sitting around 35% so I acquired an bonaire ultrasonic humidifier really cheap. So for three weeks been using and enjoying 65% rh. But… and ofc theres a but. I’ve gone into inspect shit this evening and temp is up to 93f. Normally with big light on and only a 600q watt. Temps are at 80max. So thought oh what’s up. Listeniing to the the fan. And the suction thru the filter it didn’t seem very loud. looking more closely. The outta sock seems to be literally covered proper thick with white dust… Blocked filter and reducing air flow out. But what’s causing it and and anyone else experienced this at all? And what’s the work around please.

Usually it’s the water that you use. Minerals etc in tap water can cause what you describe. I use an RO system and don’t have that stuff (3 ultrasonic humidifiers here)
You might try cleaning it with white vinegar and then refilling it with distilled water for a test…If you have no more dust…that’s the answer and good luck with it. Living in the Nevada High Sierra desert, I totally understand.

Yeah I’ve sussed it now. work around is easy. No ro machine so only solution for me as it stands. Have plenty of socks washed. And brita filter for now till I can get some sort of water filter that’s not ro but will clear scale.

I too was shopping for a basic filter.
Then I found this RO buddie.

No more white dust.

Had one of these for 5 years now, removes everything from the water, the filters last a long time but are dependent on how high the ppm’s in your water are. Mine is only 45ppm out the tap I can get 3 gals a day for about 5 months without changing the filter.

Makes a Britta filter look crap I have had both.
