I need a new garden hose spray nozzle

One of my garden hose spray nozzles just died. It became too leaky, I took it apart, but it’s not one where I could replace o-rings or someting - even if I wanted to. I have another of these in use and it’s gonna die soon too.

I just need a recommendation for a quality replacement. Everything I see on amazon appears to be garbage. Even the “dramm” stuff doesn’t look great (reviews). I just want something with either thumb control (lever style) or trigger style, that is built good enough to last, and has a couple different patterns; jet, shower, “regular” full flow, etc.

the correct term is " Bibb washer"

I significantly upgraded my outdoor watering setup this year. I’ve got a Dramm Rain water wand and a few others. The others vary from those brass twist type for jets and cones (I’ve got an old brass one with sentimental value, rebuilt with new o-rings), and a cheapy $7 Walmart one. I, like you, was unable to find a “quality” multi-pattern nozzle I was happy with. I decided I usually use the shower mode so I’ll get a specific shower tool and use a cheapy whenever I need weird patterns (like washing the patio chairs).

The big difference is I bought several sets of quick couplers. Usually I use the rain wand, if I need to wash something I can swap in the other nozzles easily. I’ve got a shutoff valve on my main hose business end so I can swap without going back to the faucet.

Here’s the wand - I like it and feel it’s well made and will last a while. Alternative heads are readily available with different perforation styles but the stock “rain” one is great for general garden stuff. https://www.amazon.com/Dramm-12345-Classic-Watering-Silver/dp/B001A4LHBQ

Here’s the quick connects which are working fantastic and the best I’ve found, plus easy to pick up more. As I acquire hoses and more nozzles I’ll just expand my collection of quick cutoffs.

Good main hose for the backyard. This has improved my watering pleasure and ease dramatically with the swivel head and ridiculous flexibility, no kinking either. I hope this is “buy once, cry once” type of purchase. I don’t mind spending some extra cash for stuff I don’t worry about and will enjoy using.

That was my approach anyway. I’ll be watching this thread to see if anyone has good nozzle recommendations for 'ya, I’d probably pick one up as well.

The Dramm is the shiznit  but I only tried the full-flow shower wand; the copycats are OK too I guess. Can really unload on soil without displacing/blasting it away. :+1:

As for hose-end sprayer, the old school metal type with a threaded adjuster knob work best IMO.

For pressure washing type action go with the “monitor” looking one: brass metal cone, twist to adjust.

Plastic is no good…breaks & sun fries it.

A filter washer(screen, like for washing machine hoses, etc.) helps too.

If there’s crusty white hard water deposits, try soaking overnight in vinegar or cocacola.

Also rock the brass threaded adjuster knob type too, honestly compared to the pistol grip style yeah not going back.

I’d check the fiskars brand for a spray gun. I own a few of their garden tools and am happy with them. they are built to last.

Like this ? If you want “built to last” my parents have some that look like this that are easily 30+ years old with a lot of use. I’ll be by their place Thursday I’ll check the brands.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I need one that’s just the “pistol” grip, not with a wand. It’s for attaching to the laundry hose/utility sink, and other faucets like in the bath tub. I use it for cleaning stuff (buckets, pumps, etc.). A long wand style would be cumbersome and awkward. Actually I think I have a wand around somewhere, but that was for watering at one point.

I have some quick-connects, they’re convenient for sure. I also have one of those heavy duty, metal shut-off valves to put before the nozzle. I just got it recently, been wanting one for a while. I have the same brand hose too, flexzilla. I need another hose too, for another part of the house. I find the flexzilla ok, but heavy and a little grabby (rubbery).

“monitor”?
Yea, plastic isn’t good. Thanks for the tips. Citric acid is good too.

You talking about this style:

Will do, thanks.

Thanks.

I bought this a couple weeks ago and it’s been great.

-fairly cheap
-thumb control lever
-multiple spray patterns
-good reviews on amazon

My only complaint is that it’s a bit short. I wish it was a another maybe 12" longer.

I’ve been looking casually for a few months for one. This is what I think I’m going to try next

Yup that style.

Thank you. It’s a bit too bulky for what I need it for (I need the type that’s just a “pistol”, or smaller).

Why must I like cool stuff so much. Now I want one of those, just because.

Ok, thanks.
