Iā€™m just leaving them on the tent even though the one plant is fully done. All hairs are red. Should I cut it down or just leave it another week to let the seeds mature? What do you guys think?

I try to always give mine 8 weeks from pollination.

Wow 8 weeks is a long time! My second go at making seeds I guess I shouldā€™ve pollinated them right when I saw white hairs. I waited to see a good amount of hairs because I thought I would get more seeds that way. Is that true? Also just stay tuned in if I have a good amount of seeds I will share some and trade some. Just send me a list of what you have for trade and I will get back.

The SFV OG you gave me, the male dropped pollen about 3 weeks after I flipped to 12/12 and I let them go to 75 days to make sure they were mature. They say you need to ā€œhardenā€ the seeds off after harvest, but I popped some right away and got 100% germination on them. I would say use restraint as much as possible. We all get impatient, but when you think you need to chopā€¦ give them a couple more weeks.

@Comacus 8 weeks is definitely a long time, but it is always best to let them go as long as possible to allow the seeds to fully mature. Positive vibesā€¦

@DGCloud Anywhere from 5-7 weeks should be fine for most seeds to fully ripen. I pollinate most of my females @3 weeks post flip and then harvest around 9-10 weeks. Sometimes I will leave the seeded branches to allow seeds to ripen, if necessary. The bracts will begin to turn brown and die, indicating that the seeds are mature. Good luck with your seed harvest! Positive vibesā€¦

When going for seeds, most crops (except fruit) are left to ripen well past the point youā€™d normally harvest. If your want to check to see how the seeds are maturing, instead of sniping a bud, you should be able to pop a seed out of a calyx on the plant like a zit lol. Everything Iā€™ve read says When they are really ready, the plant matter should start to die and dry, with the calyx peeling open and seeds basically poping out on their own or with a shake of the branch.
You should notice the plant take up less water towards the end, and you should just let it start to dry instead of watering on the usual schedule.

Yea I have noticed the plants not drinking as much water and is staying more damp longer. Iā€™m just gonna let the plants go for another 2 weeks and that would make 7 weeks total from pollination. Iā€™ve already snipped off a bud and itā€™s drying in a box, checked it today and another 3 days should be nice and dry. Iā€™ll crumble it up in acouple days to see if thereā€™s any seeds.
