Figured this info would be useful for your guys…
I started out with 100 plus seedlings, narrowed down to roughly 30 girls, choose 7-8 to reverse. Did one or two branches only.
I’d have to check, but I think I sprayed around day 35-40. I then spray every 3-5 days, usually 3-4 times. Like I said, I spray later than most and select for certain traits. I also stress tested them and they were purposely overwatered and slowed/stunted down as seedlings.
more beans > more pollen, imo, if you want more pollen or a greater likelihood of reversal, start spraying sooner. This method requires strong plants, genetics, and selection because it requires a plant that live/grow and not shut down absentee being pollinated around 70 days and they will need yo go at least 100 and maybe as much as 130 total. This coming from a plant that should run about 80 days total if you’re just growing for smoke.
Flowers take a few weeks to be formed fully, will generally start dropping pollen starting around 30 days from initial spray, you slot kore nana like small pre flowers first. You shouldn’t have to spray more than once or twice, but spraying more will is just what we do to increase our chances.
Of what I sprayed, two don’t have signs of reversal, they are the two that were/are most advanced in flower and are starting to fade already. Fine with me, I don’t like those kind of autos, so they probably wouldn’t have been chosen as a donor anyway.
So, 6 girls that I have a branch about to burst from. Well, one now that I’ve cloned the reversed branches of the runners up. The winner pollinates the tent. I’ll have a branch worth of S1 of 5 others, a little collected pollen from those 5, and I can hit the clones I took early on that have now grown out. It’s a lot of work for a small amount of beans (only 15-30 per branch in some cases), but I can make a lot more with the f1 if they look good.
I won’t have 100% success rates, but so far I’m pretty close and haven’t lost a single auto clone I put in the aero cloner.
Two aforementioned auto clones…
