James' Money-Pit Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Octopot!

Ive been there a couple of times on my last grow. Like you said, not a problem.

The Rocket sleeves are my favorite. Have tried the first sleeve and the strapped also.

Where did you get the Jane app? Looks interesting.

I like the Rocket sleeve. I’ve never tried the OG sleeves, but know I prefer the rocket for the dimensions (little wider, little lower). Its nice to add the LST holes as well. I think the handles are a bit fragile, though. All I did was lift the sleeve with dead stump and soil in it out of the Octopot after my last grow, and one handle tore off. I’m going to call them “one time use sleeves”. Im looking at other options and started a new thread about it, but I’ll mention it here as well.

I had this sitting around the house and thought…Hmmm, would that fit the Hydro Wick?
Sure as shit does! Seals around the base of the reservoir as well. Same basic width as the Rocket Sleeve, so it covers up that gap from Res to pot as well. Nice!

The two side by side. All I would have to do is cut hole in bottom of fabric pot for Hydro Wick cup to fit through.

Its just under 3" shorter than the Rocket sleeve.

I’m thinking of trying in a future grow. Im already set for this grow and dont want to experiment just yet.

Was looking for grow journal apps on the Google Play store. Ive been using the free version for months, but they really cut down the number of plants you can track for free.

I ended up paying for a year to get unlimited everything and hi-res photos.

I absolutely HATE recurring fee bullshit, but I feel this app can help, especially if someone were to have several plants in several different grow areas.

Im going to rate them on Google but probably only 3-4 stars. This should be a one time payment App. Def subtract at least one star for that business model.

Id heard about another app or two that people were using, but I think they are dead now.

Soooo…

Big day. For me anyway, lol. I’m finally able to relax and sit on couch with Stanlee.

Up early. Took Stan to park. Got a bunch of prickly things on his legs. Ugh.
Dropped Stan off at Vet. Yearly dental, etc.
Back home, eat breakfast.
Sit on couch while eating bowl of cereal thinking of reasons to avoid what needs to be done today, LOL.
Get lazy ass of couch and start getting everything ready for this 2x4 grow.

Photos to follow🍻

Stan Looking a lil bit extra-cute today

Doing it just the way Octogrower does it!

Checking out PPFD. Set at level 2 of 10 on ProGrow 320 thru ACI Controller 69 Pro and type “B” adapter.

PPFD around 160-170 right now. Should it be higher, lower, or good to go? At level 3 PPFD is 200-210.

Definite difference between the two Rocket Sleeves. One is noticibly higher than the other. I guess Chris’s tolerances are all over the place being hand-made. On my next grow in the 2x4, Im going to use a different fabric pot. Gotta experiment a bit with what works and what doesnt so well.
Hopefully it doesnt affect the grow.

Seeds! This is my first time growing from seed, and 3rd grow overall. Fingers-crossed!

Readings from dual AC Infinity Controller 69 Pros

Canopy shot, minus the canopy😜

Forgot to install the Octo-dome frames. Will do that tomorrow

Your good to go! I peak my PPFD at 300 for vegging out with seedlings near 150 and push up to 1050 when flowering.

Nice a clean set-up @supersecretjim and Stan is cute as fuck! :dog:

Got my first Action message from the Jane app…

Mark it Done!

Stan was out at the Vet for yesterdays “Octo-action” germination, etc. They put him under for dental cleaning, etc. He was out of it yesterday afternoon when we picked him up. Poor guy…

Stanlee’s a bit better today, but still not the Stanimal we know and love. By Tomorrow, 100% Im sure.

Both Octodomes installed with frames. Not sure if it makes a difference or not…

In-tent stats…

Each Octopot has its own temperature and RH reading at this point…at least while they’re under the Octo-domes.

Earlier, for some reason the Skwalker side was 20% higher than Blue Dream but they stabilized after I removed the domes to install the Octo-frames.
The Skywalker tent was covered in water drops…

Doing it again. WTF…?

Look at that RH

Edit:
Messed with the flap on the one Octodome and that made a difference.

You need air going around seedlings maintaining 65/70% they can’t transpire in too high humidity, domes are really for clones.

@supersecretjim is there a refill valve or mechanism with your set up?

Thanks!
Ive ony taken from clones, but take them to late veg 600ish and Flower push to 1000-1200 depending on how the girls feel.
This is my first “Non-Boutique” seeds.
Last grows were Lovin in Her Eyes genetics given to me in clone form. We’ll see what happens with Roberts seeds, lol.

Star_dog, that went right over my head, lol. Youre gonna have to be more specific.

Do you refil the tray or does it do it automatically?

Now I gotcha. Im a little slow today, lol.

Its plummed for the auto-fill system, but its not hooked up other than at the reservoir. Just enough to have a shut-off valve. I may utilize at some point. I wish Chris at Octopot wouldnt have have pre-drilled the holes. I had no choice but to semi-install.

Thanks, but yeah, I’m not gonna be doing that - Soaking the pot.
Very against the Octopot manual and what Ive seen people do in general with Octopot systems. Octopot system only top-water first time. I followed with my last clone cutting and same with this grow. The “Wick” of the Octopot (Hydro Wick) operates much differently than other wicking systems. After initial top watering, Reservoir feed ONLY.

I watched video on youtube from octogrower. Based my germination on his #2 of 3 part series video. Top watered kinda the same. Enough to fill area and soak back. Then Pencil, seed, cover.

I think they are good right now at just under 80 RH. But I’ll do what I can to maintain a 65-70% environment once seedlling pops? Is that what you’re talking about?

No air on them from fans yet. Just exhaust on level 2.

One good thing I noticed on my Electrify Octogrow is the Octopot provides a bit of moisture on its own, Sometimes I’ll add a small container or two of water to evaporate.

If needed, I have the smallest ACI Cloudforge T3. I have yet to use it, and based on the horror stories, Im not sure if I should use it. Its one of the Pre-order units. Im afraid if I plug it in, it may fry my controller 69. Anyone have any personal experience with the Cloudforge?
