It’s gotten so big that flash doesn’t cut it anymore! HA!
I’ve been adding in ties to keep the little offshoots relatively separate under the theory that more light exposure = more growth = bigger buds. Might have gotten a bit too happy with the ties so I’ve kind’ve paused messin’ with it until the smaller ones get a bit taller. But otherwise it’s a happy plant.
Still not a lot of sex-signs but the lack of balls staring back at me from either plant still seems promising. Oh! before I forget. The mother is about 18 inches wide and 8-9 inches tall! Not a monster by any means but I’m pretty impressed.
The clone is now reaching nearly 10 inches tall and has some interesting yellowing at the tips of leaves… could be nutrient-related but I’m not worried enough to post about it yet.
As for the mother I foolishly brought my light closer and got some light burn on the center of the bush. The rest is healthy.
I’ve had an idea on my mind now for a minute: should I go ahead and try to flower the clone? Neither plant is showing its sex much even though I planted in Jan. I say ‘much’ because there are visible structures, just not anything long enough to be a ‘hair’ or round enough to be balls. I’m not opposed to the idea of flowering it out, just want to know what y’all think.
If you just can’t bring yourself to wait any more, sure, go ahead and flip the clone. But I’ll bet you that they will then show sex about the same time lol Murphy’s law
Oh yeah, I don’t doubt that they’ll show sex soon enough and at about the same time. They’re the same plant after all. I’m just new enough to growing that I think it might be a valuable experience trying to get the clone to flower out. And by new enough, I mean this grow is my first time I’ve seen live cannabis in person!
This has been such a great thread bro, I’m happy to have caught up. Your bagseed Runtz is looking fantastic, both are. I killed about 20 seedlings before I finally got a plant going; you’re killing it.
I’m a total noob, but give your main plant a few more days. I bet it will be showing its sex soon. I’m experiencing issues with using rope for LSTing, it’s dope a member guided you in the right direction. I’m a bit stuck in my way at this point.
Send you good vibes and here’s hoping you’ve got a female.
Thanks buddy! It’s been a long road and I’ve messed it up at least once. Super cool to hear that people actually read this threat lol. Sorry to hear about your seed troubles and let’s hope the thing sexes soon. Ideally I’d like to be done and cured by end of july, but who knows lol.
Quite a bit of development has happened these last few days; I kept with the general sentiment and the LITFA philosophy so far so good. Mind, I did go about more LST to spread out buds and trimmed a few leaves to give them better exposure. Here’s what we’re rocking under the hood:
I’m still around and kickin’ but there’s not a whole lot to report. The clone keeps getting taller an the mother is pretty robust… there may be some nute burn or something going on but it is far from endangering the life of the plant so I’m just keepin an eye on it. Still not significant signs of sex. Any day now…
I should also mention that I’ve made the decision a bit ago to take a break from bean collecting… I’ve ended up with a pokemon mentality and every time I see something unique, like a landrace, mutant, or F2 of something old/rare my mind goes ‘ooh shiny’ lmao. Y’all are too good 'cause you enable me lol
I’d flip em bud.
I would honestly hate to see you come this far and have boys. Or flip one?
In the past I’ve taken a clone early, rooted it quickly, an flipped it to flower. That way I can know the sex of the mom before it gets to far along.
