Landrace preservation and hybrids project

New update!
The heat fucked up a couple things, some of the seedlings just died, but the ones that were big took of like beasts.
The one im most impressed with is the durban poison, she is getting reeeally bushy and is starting to shoot up

The cloud walker is also getting really bushy, but mostly because of the fat leaves it has, im waiting to see how it flowers with the heat this summer is probably going to give us.

On another side of the garden we have the critical widow, she is getting tall, not bushy as the other ones, but it doesnt have near the vegetative period. This one should be a nice producer with energetic high.

I already moved the DJ(most of them) to the soil and topped them, in hopes they dont stretch much, more pics to come!

Soo sooo! New update!! Its been 1 month since last update! The plants are going crazy!, So far the ones that went into the patch they are thriving really well, the seedlings didnt went so well with the constant heat waves we are having here.

The plants are already in flower, and they got big as fuck, rn they are almost 1,70m.

Those are Durban poison, DJ(small one) and the other one the cloud walker, definitely some difference since last photos, these ones are going slow into flower, having only sexed, the critical widow though, its starting to form flowers already!

(Maybe it cant be seen well, but its there)

So far, really happy about the outdoor, really curious about what this plants will give, in all terms.

Also the other day, checking the durban, I saw this on one of the leaves

Since I got the tobacco plants it seems like chrysop. love them! Good bio fight against mites and everything, also I saw it seems to be a nice association between tomatoes and cannabis, more tests on that in the future.

Im very happy with how everything is going, I’ll try to push the flowering as much as I can, I already gave 2 amendments with bat guano, not a single one more, since its already enough for all the flower, I did this to also leave some nutes for the veggies that are going to be on the spot, dont want to overfeed, but neither underfeed, organics deals well with that. Also I gave two foliar waterings with delta9(cannabiogen), which are aminoacids and some nutes that will improve and fasten a bit the flowering of the plants, and I’m going to start on the next watering giving a little bit of the beetroot ferment BAC sells(its the ‘PK’), I dont want to use much bottle nutes, even if they are organic, but I bought them a while back and I have to use them . Mainly that’s the nute schedule(besides some veggie cut I might throw for the bugs), with the harvest I plan to just keep bud and make oils, maybe a bit of ice hash but mainly bud.

Also some possible bad news is that seems seeds will have to wait a bit, all the DJ seem to be ladies, I planned on using that male and now no male, but well, indoors will come soon so no worries! The project is still running and with some good new things coming!

Have a nice day and a nice smoke!

If you don’t mind my asking, which strain have you been growing for that long? What’s its pedigree and pharmacological effect(s)?

@Herrsquidward I’ve been growing What I believe is Likely pre DJ Short Blueberry since 1991 . Over the years I had keeper plants stolen, Leaving me to breeed with what I had left, not necessarily with what I wanted to breed with. As a result I Lost anything that tastes like blueberry. Instead my strain has morphed into a Very strong strawberry smell And a hashy flavor. Generally uppity sativa effects but with a stone to it. I had plants that tasted like strawberries too, but haven’t seen one since 2009, though I have not gone through very many seeds from that year. The last plant I grew was in 2018 and the buds were loose. The last time I saw tighter buds was that same year 2009. I finally got a worm farm up and running and I’m planning on breaking out some of my old seeds for next year. I may even take a break from sativa’s next summer as I have a lot to go thru. Not very hard to get a pound a plant outdoors if you let them get big in a decent sized hole. In 2014 I harvested 5 plants from a 4 foot by 12 foot plot a foot deep that totaled about 4 or 5 pounds, And those plants were all chopped in half in August due to height/ size concerns. Would have been bigger for sure.
@George Is growing a hybrid of my 2 old heirlooms…the strawberry candy i always grew, and My uncles old 1975 Afghan That I got from him in 1998, affectionately called Coyote, his nickname. Perhaps he would be willing to share a picture.
In addition to the 2 above mentioned strains, I have what I call a Dwarf Afghan That I received from him around 2001. This is an inland Pacific Northwest heirloom And I don’t know where it originally comes from though my guess is that it was from the coast due to mold resistance. My recent train of thought has me thinking It’s Pakistani and not Afghani.

Also, I thought this “dwarf Afghan” topped out around 2 or 3’ tall, but my cousin is growing them in 25 gallon containers this year and they have gotten closer to 5 feet. I’ll see if I can find some pictures.

Sucks that so many were stolen. At least those rippers didn’t have badges and the power of the state.

At least most of them didn’t LOL. Either the badges or my old grow partner found eight of my outdoor plants a few years back. Unfortunately I think it was the latter

That sucks.

@George1961 Looking good! Thanks for sharing. Those are some whoppers for indoors lol. Looks like it will be worth the effort in the end. I hope so. How much longer are you thinking? Looks like they need some time yet.
Sure looks like topping is the way to go with these.

Thanks, I love how they smell :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:, no idea how long they will take but I know my patience will be rewarded. Next run topped for sure and less veg time, it’s always a good thing having a second opportunity … beer3|nullxnull

If not, i’ll hook you up

I also have a line on the 1979 blueberry aka Mr. Blue
My friend stopped all his BB projects once he found the Mr Blue line.

Nope I’ve never had a different blueberry. Been dreaming of that taste since the 90’s We used to call it Maxwell House weed because it was good to the last drop. I clearly remember at one party a mini pipe stoned 12 people. Tasted like blueberries right down to the ashes. Epic weed. You’d shoot the best pool of your life after smoking it, but you’d be unable to talk to anybody because you would be too high. Could take a room full of drunk sociable people and silence them completely LOL. Where did you get your blueberry? The 1979 sounds promising. The rumor in our area is that a cutting of the Blueberry grown here in my area took second place in the High Times Cannabis Cup back in the early '90s. Tested at 23 and a half percent THC if I remember right. That was an incredible number for the early 90s. Until AK-47 came out, that was the first and only one to breach the 20% thc mark that I can recall. Going from memory here…and you know how stories get magnified… so I don’t know if any of this is true. However, I can tell you for a fact that the blueberry was extremely potent. I smoked up a bunch of Vietnam Vet Hell’s Angels for a summer at a biker bar and they started calling my weed the Viper weed. “Hey, long hair, you got any more of that Viper weed ?” Viper weed?" I replied? “What’s that ?” He says, " that weed you got. After you smoke it you can take 3 steps and then you’re down, like a bite from a viper". Goood Smoke!
