Landrace strains - general thread

Yeah, it may or may not be related to being root bound, stress like that can definitely sometimes trigger flowering but then it does seem like a pretty consistent trait you are getting. I’ve never had photo plants flower with that daylight length, males very occasionally and pre flowers definitely but full blown flowers at 16-17 hrs daylight is definitely not normal lol.

I have a Female Lady in Red in my indoor slot in veg I can only have 6 plants in flower for my legal limit and this Girl is in one of my 6.I’m trying to figure out if I should just cut my losses and pull this one and swap them out so I have a full set for my outdoor.Still pretty early for that Lady in Red do something special.Really sucks but I have 2 beans left and there’s always next year

Didn’t Kullu begin as a hash cultivar? Has it been worked enough to make it THC-dominant?

I’d leave it. It wants to flower. Was it pot bound before you transplanted outdoors?
It could be one of those that starts flowering early, but keeps growing while it sets the stage for full flower, or one of those that flowers when the taproot bottoms out.

Some strains need to be grown on a sixteen eight lightcycle To prevent auto flowering when they go out in shorter days. This could be one of them because it’s from so far north, where days are very long near the solstice.
Hopefully the bottom branches extend for you. If you don’t see them growing she’s just going to flower

For ANY system to work properly, it requires and intelligent and conscientious population.

Kullu used to be cultivated at the foot of the Himalayas, or if it still is cultivated, it’s not by many. It’s now found feral in the area. Perhaps the growers switched locations. Common in India.
It’s a ganja strain now.

That’s one concern I’m sure many growers have: putting all that effort into a plant that turns out CBD-dominant. Don’t misunderstand, CBD-dom plants definitely have a great deal of value, just not for someone who has limited space/time/plant counts, etc.
TRSC has some seeds called “Nepalese Mountain Ganja” that got my attention. A plant that can get so huge, AND THC-dom sounds like the best of both worlds.

Imported from tropical India or perhaps the Terrai region of Nepal, where elevation is lower. Suspected import time was 1930’s. Looks like a good one.

Some plants just do that. They wont revert back and will run through their cycle no mater what till death. You might be able to pull it out of flower and save it by taking a clone and putting under 24hr light. It might be the stress of being in a different environment to the norm, not sensing lots of other males and females around them, the changes in light spectrum and angles compared to what they are used to, to much water, too little water, the root bottoming out too soon ect. Different things can cause this. Ive seen many landrace plants both female and male that just run through a normal veg and flower cycle till death even under 24hr lighting constantly. I usually eliminate those plants as they are the ones that are most susceptible to stress and might hermie and pass on traits that I dont want. But its normal to find plants like that when seeds come straight from native fields or the seeds are very close in generation to these or may have been reproduced open pollination with out sellecting those traits out.

I just seen its a texada airloom. Some of those were outdoor plants that have auto genetics and fast flowering and triggering genes in them. I think many of them used wiliams wonder and plants like this so that the genetics could trigger earlier and finish faster before the cool weather set in. Might be what you have. If its built to trigger when the light starts dropping from 16-17 hrs then a clone should stay in veg under 24hr light. If its auto it wont go back into veg and just continue flower.

I have a few more beans of it left I had to pull her just couldn’t chance flower getting molded out or anything with it flowering that early and putting out anything worthwhile.Didn’t like to do it but I have 4 monster plants going now. That one spot needs an upraised bed put over it.It’s the lowest spot and gets too much water when it pours out needs at least 2 feet of wicking material to balance it out. Will tinker with next year too committed to the 4 patch upraised bed that was a half a foot up higher.

@BeTheLight yes I have some sativa seeds of the 70s types I would be willing to send you. PM me I sent you a pm

It Seems like a lot of smoke but no fire :fire: around here when asking about seed gifting/trading I got sacks of seeds sitting around just getting old

I keep seeing people confirm trades or gifts. Honestly I would rather just send something and get nothing back I don’t want everyone and their grandma knowing my address
