Landraces and heirloom (Part 1)

Depends on the strain. Some thaw and turn to mush, but some plants can handle temps much colder. Oaxaca handled 23 degrees. My own strain survived 16. Purple, or as its called in this case, black, is from cold resistant flavonoids called anthcyanins, whose presence denotes cold resistance. Green strains handle it too. My own strain was always green, but over the course of 25 years became Purple in the foliage from the cold
here.
Afghan and Paki farmers wait for the frost to increase resin and smell. Some people water with ice water the last 2 weeks before harvest to increase resin and smell. I donā€™t know if thereā€™s anything to that or not. Itā€™s always cold here harvest time.
In regards to the vb cold tolerance, I tend to believe what I was told from an Australian guy that knew retired drug runners, and thru them, the maker of viet black. He said viet black is a hybrid with viet and Afghan, made by a Vietnam vet in California (I think)after the war was over for him.

Tom recently finished a large open pollinated run of his Positronics Haze and sold them for $2/seed. He said he was going to do Deep Chunk next. :grinning:

I usually put them on a plate in a dark place for a few weeks to let them harden off.

If they are still on the plant, they should be ok, but it would be better to find a way to keep the humidity down.

People gets $$ signs in their eyes with the sale of seeds. The seeds are send from Thailand and i dont know how safe that is.

A good idea is get like 30 or 40 seeds of one of his Strains and made a huge repro, then start to give for free to anyone, even on other forums or social apps
ruin their business.

Strange pricing. Also selling expeditions to these cannabis hot spots.

Iā€™m not sure why there is so much hostility towards Zomia in this thread. I assume because their beans are priced to the current market? Ignorance? Their about page on their website explains where the money goes. I mean I understand if maybe you donā€™t trust what they say but Iā€™m gonna need receipts. High priced beans do not equal bad allocation of funds or direct to pocket profits if they are in the ballpark for the market. Traveling to collect beans costs money. Who else is doing that and paying farmers regularly? And not polluting their genes? Iā€™d love to hear something other than ā€˜bean expensive, me no likeyā€™.

Disclosure: I am subscribed to Zomia at the lowest tier. This may be providing me more insight into their operations than the public as I can view content from their travels and the interactions from the team members.
