Left Hand Seeds Employee Journal - BlackDak + Black/Blue Lebanese

Flower Day 34

Chugging now, entering stretch. Res swap done today, the plants drank over 15 gals since last change.

All around happy, been a very low maintenance experience, which I don’t even mind the maintenance in a hobby.

It’s time to pollinate this week. I’m going to just rain on one of the best looking plants to get maximum seeds and branch pollinate other good choices.

@lefthandseeds got a PH controller and peristaltic setup he’s testing so I’m anxious to see how that goes, then the grow will be hands off for weeks at a time. PH in this setup climbs by around .6 every 3 days like clockwork.

The whole crew.

Two early stretchers, the one pictured has around 4" of height on everyone else so far.

This setup has one point of concern - pots don’t fully drain so roots tend to sit in this minute pool of water, we’re figuring out a solution for that now, probably raising pots an inch or two to allow gravity to assist in better drainage.

Pistils out!

Pollination time!

@lefthandseeds hooked it up huge with the pollen from the @man-bot cross of BD x 88G.

I wanted to mention him because I always find it kind of surreal when someone is growing out a cross on OG of something I helped out making in some way.

I absolutely slammed some branches with pollen via paintbrush, one plant didn’t really have great pistils yet so I just nailed its entire cola, because why not?

Really interesting variance going on - one plant had probably 4x the root mass of anyone else so I annihilated a few branches on it.

That should do it! Just completely covered. The beauty of growing one strain is I am not concerned about cross pollination at all.

Ya - I have to admit, it is pretty awesome (and flattering) to be able to contribute in some small way to this project.

Hoping for some serious pepper for you!!!

Flower Day 41

I feel like I should’ve defoliated a bit to try to stave off botrytis, but I also don’t like to mess with growth, so we’ll just see how it goes this time.

If you don’t defoliate you must increase air circulation
But I vote for defoliation

I did a few rounds of defoliation. Any fans up top that are blocking the lower sites are good candidates.

Day 50 Flower

Peace be with you, OG.

Plants are perky, and overall look really happy. They’re still bushy despite taking off over a pound of leaf matter a week ago, but I think they’re getting enough air.

The whole crew - can see some serious variance already in the plants on the left vs right.

The one on the far left front is a monster - huge plant mass and has gone past everyone else on height, but a much slower grower - it looks at least 5-7 days behind others.

These things are resin gods, can’t wait to see the amounts of hash they drop.

Crimea!

Since I’m 20 ish days out on the main tent right now I decided to pop more beans, these via @lefthandseeds.

These might just be ruderalis - but there are reports that drug type cannabis can come from southern Ukraine where these were purportedly sourced.

There is zero grow information for this strain anywhere but on RSC. I scoured the internet last night for any tips, and found nothing. This is going to be a complete mystery.

https://therealseedcompany.com/product/crimea-landrace-ruderalis-cannabis-seeds/

These seeds are just micro-sized, and apparently have germination issues, so I threw around 22 of them into H2O2 + H2O.

Day 60 Flower, RIP Crimea, Welcome Lebanese

Well, the Crimea got a 3 day soak in h2o2 + h2o and then into a towel/bag for another day and I only had two crack - one of which is looking fine but the other is probably not going to make it. I might try to run this single plant or clone it just to get some viable stuff to cross against for semi-auto traits, I’m not sure yet.

Legit 2/22 germination rate, YIKES!

Ain’t nobody got time for this shit. I love landraces but I have little patience for hard to pop seeds.

Welcome to the party, Lebanese! Another pull from the @lefthandseeds seed bank. Big fat seeds, a couple greenies but I put in around 14 so the odds are hopefully on my side.

Flower tent is chugging along, still no drama - did another big defoliation after I took these pics because they re-bushed themselves, especially the big black domina leaner on the far left.

These guys are going to finish way earlier, both very similar kind of runty phenos.

This is one of the two early finishers.

I’ll be interested to see how the Black Dak finishes.

I had a funny one with thinner leaves that dried and cured to a full cat piss type scent.

Quite good smoke as well - very greasy resin glands.

10 Lebanese looking happy, so nice to have seeds pop and do their thing.

Rapid rooters can just fuck a duck, root riots have saved my germination!!

They have such tight seed holes it’s perfect because the roots get almost no light exposure. Jokes can be made here but I’ll refrain.

I constantly have this issue where in my completely soaked-with-humidity dome my rooters dry out, so I gave them a sprinkling of tap, I really need to transplant to flood ASAP.
