Thank you for the info !!

Just to make sure, I would like to double check that I got it right.

The bottom part (without handholds and with brown legs) all ways used for bedding and collects most worm castings within it. ( no food or soil in it) Just wet egg cartons etc. to make it comfortable for worms ?

And top two (or three in some units)(with handholds) are in rotation (when top one is full these are rotated and oldest one is eptied (used as nutrious soil) and put on top to receive waste.

PS. No wormbins on sale here (non US) so I think I will travel down the DIY road …

You are correct, the bottom section is is collect any EWC that falls through and act as a drain for extra fluid (I don’t generate any).
The upper two sections are the worm bedding materials and EWC.
This can be duplicated with a couple modified stackable tote bins.
Lots of DIY setups on Youtube etc.

Mine was produced locally.

If you add some meals to that, they casting will be off the charts!

@Tinytuttle I was thinking how spoiled they were also.

What kind of meals? Please elaborate.

Most people would use the same type as in their soil mix, like crab meal, neem meal and kelp meal.

I’ve started using bio live, which is a mixture of different meals.

Awww OK I get it. I mixed my Worm bin with the same nutrients as my No Till Garden Soil when I first started it up

I agree Iv been doing stuff like that in the worm bins but also the thermal compost piles as well, can’t say to date that I haven’t really had to chase any deficiencies at all only a bit on a 16oz pot size and I think that was temp related more then anything

You’ll soon realize @CADMAN your going to have some stellar potting mix soon!

Mix that stuff into your house plants as well! I think the lettuce may have something to say as well! Maybe I’ll give some Atlantic Giant seeds a go! But then again fucking city is jacking our rates higher on the water! Hope it rains more then last year!

@Tinytuttle thanks for the encouragement bro.
I love the rain also, so it can rain all dam summer, let go. I’m likely going to $ store tomorrow or Canadain tire for a much larger Worm bin.
Buy some peatmoss & some potting mix soil, amend the hell outta it and use the current Worm bin to seed it.

My wife says my Worm food takes up too much room in the freezer :expressionless: lol

My misses already puts up with 20 plants in veg in the wardrobe I wouldn’t even chance storing worm food haha. I throw my coffee grinds in with the selected food scraps and it oxidizes it so it can sit for a few days, takes the smell away too :v:t4:

My Worm bin lives in the living room “Caged Garden” so far no foul smells, just smells like Forest earth. ,)

Lmao . I only started doing the smoothy to save freezer space really, but understood that it will also break down quicker and easier
