Let's see your worm bins!

Mine love fruit. Banana peels are one of their faves. They tore into the coffee grounds last time I gave them those (moderation on those).

They do very well with cannabis trimmings also, smart worms

Edit: mine are euros btw, but I doubt their preferences are that much different

Thank You, that is what I need to learn. Do you do the trim dry or fresh. They have a green/brown ration in the pamphlet but I lost it at my Daughters house. I sprinkled in some ground egg shells. I just donā€™t know how much. I have a big dish of grounds I have been collecting. Just know how much. I got a 500 count bag.
Than I see the whole bananas vs banana peels, Avocado/no avocadoā€¦

I just throw it in there fresh off the banana, or leftovers of something after itā€™s chopped. Iā€™d give them a good bit of fruit/ veggie stuff and maybe half a handful of coffee ground off to the side (all in their same general area). I let them pick where/ what they want to eat instead of mixing it all together. You will quickly learn their faves and how much they want of other things.

I probably break the ratio more than anything, so hopefully someone else will chime in on that.

Just use whatever you got, they will eat it. Have fun and donā€™t over think it.

And, hell yes avocado. It makes them have an orgy. I add some meals in mine, and key the worms supercharge their castings with it.

Got myself a couple of 3 tier worms farms just waiting on the little red guys to turn up and will start experimenting with the feed etc.

Gonna try to make EWC for veg and flower. Iā€™ve been reading about it on another forum and thereā€™s a member in said forum that makes veg and flower EWC so thatā€™s the next experiment. Different inputs for the different ā€œcustomizedā€ casting or what ever you want to call them

Just make sure you have that bin filled at least 3/4 the way with material (bedding) it will be easier to maintain and your worm numbers will increase also which will increase your output!

Also keep the mixture moist, not wet, so they donā€™t dry up and die, or drown.

That makes sense. You just add the meals with the values you want for that growth phase, then boom. Yeah, cool thought, you got my wheels turning.

Will do. Off to shred more paper

I had it all set up and maintaining at 70%. Put the worms in with the 1/2 cup water and it jumped up to 90%+
Have left the top open to bring it down.

Exactly add the meals into the worm bin accordingly so that when theyā€™re ready theyā€™re immediately available to your ladies as opposed to top dressing the meals.

When I read that it got my mind spinning too. I have to give credit to Organic Sine over at GS for the idea and what needs to go in them. Heā€™s primarily an auto grower but principle will hold true for photos too

The concept makes more sense for photoperiod plants as well.

Iā€™ve started adding an all around amendment to my bins lately (biolive). The great thing about organic growing is the plants can take exactly what they need from the soil. Having something to top dress with specifically for later in flower really makes sense though. I may have to start another bin for that, at some point.

Again, awesome idea, thanks for bringing it up.

You need to do a worm grow for us. I thought about it but I would just be asking for help and messing up. Tag me if you do.

@FattyRoots I would like to know to so I can get mine built before I need it.

@G-paS @khaoohs good question haha sorry I just threw it together with what I could find in my shed but my guess without measuring it would be 4 or 5mm squares. Next time Iā€™m in the shed Iā€™ll try to remember to measure it for you.

If I get the balls to do a journal I will tag you no worries. Iā€™m a little paranoid about this sort of thing as its a no no where I am :peace_symbol:

Iā€™d most likely mess up too, Iā€™m by no means a expert grower far from it.

All the more reason to have a journal and ask advice.

Not looking for a expert grower. Just a worm growing Journal for us all to watch and learn. I get lost finding Infor with so many in one thread

@khaoohs @G-paS I was told to use Hardware Cloth for my screen. 1/4ā€ holes or smaller. I bought it at the local big box hardware store, but havenā€™t made my screen yet. Hope this helps!!
