True the raid situation is never good. Honestly i think they got a lot more to worry about around here than a couple people with small personal grows is pretty much what i was saying. Always good to cover arse with both hands though. So youre about to run coco ? Or that for a different project? I put seeds in towel today with about 25%h202 rest water final ph was 6.25. Only put 4 in i figure ill get a female out of 4. I like to not have too many females of same strain then i got to number em n cant really pick the best. I clone all females too so i already have copies when i know what the plant does n the cloner gets full quick.
The ones in coco are back up incase the ones in my bucket end up being male. That way the on in coco if it’s a female can be switched over to DWC.
My question is.
Or do you guys think once the roots reach the bottom those ladies burst with growth. This is the first time I’ve grown in straight coco.
The Forest Candy is doing really well. She wasn’t started at the same time.
She’s also in a smaller container. That’s what made me think about some things.
I usually mix a lot of perlite in my coco. Taking roots back out ive never really done. To transplant to water youd have to rinse em clean. Id just run the backups in the coco. Coco can give some good results in little pots. Probably a lil more forgiving then hydro too. Plus you can always clone em n the clones will be easy to run in hydro. Let them finish in coco n have copies right behind em in water. I try not to mess with roots a lot but ive seen em trimmed n all.
Thanks man. I’m sure once the roots reach the bottom they will catch up.
Yeah they look like they might want some food now n they start taking off for you. Been 48 hrs im checking seeds tonight hoping i can get some in pots n under the t5s
Yeah the Forest Candy germ rates actually surprised me. I did however use PH’d Rapid Rooters. They just took some time. The rates on those was actually better then the fresh Hopscotch.
I’m going to shoot for 1.0 EC /700 PPM⁷⁰⁰
This will be my first time using the Silica Blast.
It says to use .5 tbl spoons per gal. I’m going to start with .25. Then work my way up. I’m very nervous when adding new things in the mix. The rest will be GH Maxi Grow
It’s slow going right now. We are 13 days in. Now that I have all this extra space, what I take and leave will be a lot different then what it used to be.
I will not be topping at all again. I’m just going to be bending her over and spread her out. More on that when we get there.
Yeah 3 of 4 forest candy seeds kicking tails out now. I think all of them will pop. I just checked n everything had tails except 1 forest candy. So far thats 15 of 16 total seeds. I can definately work with that.
I used 75% water 25% h202 then phed it n did old paper towel in sandwich bag method.
Here we go.
I will start off with the worst first. Lol.
After I had the little mishap with the air pump and the plants getting any air at all for close to 24 hours the Black Candyland took it the worst.
Now her back up in Coco is doing great. There’s a learning curve on the Coco that I’m still trying to get a grasp on.
I’m going to start doing the PH at 6.5. I would like to water more often but I didn’t have any Perlite come planting time. I slid her out of her container and the roots are very well established. I wanted to add Perlite but chose to leave them be.
The Blue Cookies is doing very well she doesn’t have a backup because she is a feminized plant.
The Gods Space Needle is looking the best out of all 3 WC plants. The GSN in coco is a whole other story.
I’m actually glad the Black Candyland in coco is doing so well because if the one in DWC keeps doing poorly she might get switched out with the one in Coco. That is of course if she is female. You know what they say about plants that look so great before the sex reveal. Lol.
The only thing that has been bothering me it there is the leaves are a little translucent. I really noticed this around the time of the air pump misshap. I don’t think it’s that. I believe they where hungry. I upped everyone’s food. I’m hoping this time tomorrow I will see a difference.
In 5 days we will be up to 1.5 EC. That’s where I plan to leave them for the remainder of veg. I will see who’s eating what. We learned last grow if we over feed with the Maxi it can cause problems with the PH. I am keeping a index cards 1 for each plant to keep notes for the future. There a little blank right now but could be valuable in the future when I want to finish growing the rest of my seeds.
Update all 4 popped. So 100% germ.
So I had some of this happen after adding the Silica Blast.
I’m waiting for this transparent leave thing to pass. Never seen anything like it.
Anyone ever see this type thing?
Anyone ever seen this happen? The leaves look somewhat transparent.
I can’t really see where it’s transparent
That’s why I do soil. I would freak out to much. I am going to try it soon on veggies. Looks very stressful if not experienced enough. @LilJonB you might be looking at them to much if you know what I mean. I tend to over manage sometimes. Looks great. Are you talking about the color of your roots also?
The leaves look a little transparent.
The new growth is looking fine.
The brown stuff on the roots are concerning. The only thing that’s different that happened emwas the introduction of the Silica Blast. It’s clear tho that’s the confusing part.
Ah fun times in DWC… I just switched off maxigro for veg and went with megacrop 2part aka Jacks 321. I was getting decent growth with like 2ml/gal calimagic and 1/2 teaspoon/gal maxigro but it still wasn’t quite right… may need less or more but any less than 1/2 tsp/gal maxigro caused big pH swings for me. It’s just not the same formula as it used to be. Maxibloom+calimagic works much better the whole way, but you don’t get the same lush veg growth with it than if you used maxigro or something else high in nitrogen for veg.
The megacrop looks like I may need to add in some epsom salt too, seeing mag deficiency at 1/4 tsp A and 1/2 tsp B. Still experimenting.
Yeah I was thinking about how GH Maxi is not for me. I was getting better results with GH Flora series. The only reason I made the switch was because the Mirco of the GH trio was staining my roots. Funny thing is after I added the Silica Blast I’m getting brown build up on my roots.
I don’t understand it because the Silica Blast is yellowish in color. I really do not like this.
Is this from the Silica? Please help.
If it’s slimy it’s not staining it’s rot/bacteria, basically plants aren’t eating so the roots are melting.
My bet would be drain and refill without the silica, or use less of it, if that was your only change from the previous water.
Are you running bennies or a chiller or sterile?
edit: if it is just staining and everything smells and feels good, I wouldn’t worry about it. Or switch to ArmorSI, you only need to use like 0.5-0.8ml/gal of that stuff as it’s super concentrated and it’s 100% clear…
I too also use armor si in my dwc. Haven’t had any issues with it.
(Oh my. I was supposed to finish this post and post it but I forgot about it. This is from a few days ago.)
Other then the BS going on with my roots after I upped the nutes to 1.0 EC I see a big increase of growth and all around happy looking lady’s.
I noticed that the EC dropped from 1.0 to 0.8.
