Live slow and get your toes dirty in my grow. Come on down

Happy Saturday friends. Hope it’s been a fantastic evening.

Trying #4 and #2 yet again to get some feels.

It hasn’t had much cure yet but I have smoked a bit and smoked a bit with a friend. I’ll probably let these sit now for a while and smoke through other stuff, but I like trying fresh stuff to compare to cured stuff. My friend very much preferred pheno #4 to #2. He thought #2 was harsher than #4 and liked the taste on #4.

Notes on #4

  • it is extremely potent. It has the sweetest smell of three phenos I’ve tried so far. The smell carries through to the taste and is intensely sweet with gas/candy/fruit sort of flavors. My friend said it had a starburst type sweetness. Maybe a slight lemon smell? Fast acting. Quickly makes your brain feel inflated. A few minutes later your body relaxes. Heavy behind the eyes and a smiley stone. Definitely the best for sleep out of these three so far. It can make you ramble on and then forget what you were saying. Really nice so far! I’m excited to let it sit and get back to it. Didn’t get a ton from this one plant but was pleasantly surprised with how dense the nugs dried down to.

Notes on #2

  • super enjoyable high. It is indeed a touch harsher than #4 and has a more ‘generic’ weed taste. It is slightly sweet with a sort of hashy/jam flavor but it’s not super pronounced in flavor. I like the high on this one more personally than #4. #4 is nice but this one has a more mind opening effect. Perhaps a heavier body high without being sleepy. #4 is sleepy and #2 is relaxed without the tiredness. I’ll let these cure and come back to them for some final tokes and notes and reports.

Maze is almost too hard to take pictures of now. In the best way. Bulky! We are just on this journey together. I can’t wait to pull this down and am equally excited to find a spot for the next one. May end up doing two or three single cola plants in small pots for this next. Black pepper, herbal, earthy maybe a little nutty? Really interesting smells. I’d almost call them intense but not like they’re overpowering. Just when you get in there and touch around it cuts through whatever resin may already be on your hands.

SSDD (bubbashine pheno)f2. Looking bubbashine-y. Sort of sandy feeling trichomes at this point. Smells really great. Hard to place specific smells but it’s easy to just sit there smelling.

A shot of pheno #1 (TS x SSDD)

Trufflez f2 is progressing so quickly. It’s 9-10 days into flower and has trichomes, thick white hairs and is starting to stack a bit. I don’t know it’s finish time though so maybe it’s an 8 weeker and I just never grow them so I am not used to their growth. Fun plant.

I’ll pull CH #2 out tomorrow. :metal:t2: Haven’t managed to push PLT x LL into flower yet but I’m trying. okay be back soon

All you plants look great @DirtySlowToes but WOW, that Maze is a-maze-ing!! It’s nice to see visible trich fields developing. Sometimes those huge cola types can be dry on trichomes. And an interesting terpene profile to boot! It’s been quit the journey so far eh? Growing theses types will change your perception of what Herb can be and how long it can take to finish, for sure. Do you know how far into flower you are with it? I often lose track on these long flowerers.

Thank you, sir! I’m happy to be growing it. As always, appreciate the work you put in making it. She’s monstrous.

Hell yes it is. Hah I was worried for a minute they’d stay tiny or non existent but they’ve finally started swelling and coverage is good. I hope it’ll only get better over the coming weeks. Today is day 99. So pretty much right at 14 weeks. Thinking maybe 4 left? I’ll have to put a close eye on her but she’s seemed to stop the massive swell and is now filling in with some density. I’ll have to measure her from base to top, but with cropping and training, I think she’s still under 4ft.

These plants do help with perspective. It is really amazing to watch. Thinking I’ll take the start of the year off from making any seeds and use the 4x2 I’ve got to do single plant long flowering grows. The time it takes to hunt through long flowering varieties is intense. I may also measure around and try to expand my space at the sacrifice of a foot of height. I haven’t smoked anything like this in a few years. Hoping it’s everything I recall and then some. I’ve got a growing list of other long flowering gals, definitely thanks to you, and I don’t see myself stopping with them anytime soon.

Sounds about right. I think i took my first at 17 wks and my last at 19 wks but it could have went longer. The flushes of new pistils continued but the bulk of the cola looked done. And the trich heads refused to amber up past 2% or so. They were all pretty milky though.

The one’s I tried after dry, but not cured, were creative, uplifting, weight off your shoulders, super happy to be here type herb to varying degrees. I cobbed the majority and just recently tried some and it was nice, with forementioned effects, but i wouldn’t say it was amplified. Just affected the flavour.

I pulled out a grove bag of the mother to Maze (Mullumbimby Madness x Nevils Haze) that had been sitting for 3-4 months and was hit with fresh peeled carrots , so there’s potential for the progeny to express like that as well.

I hear you. Once you get use to them running in the background, it’s hard not to have one or two(or 6😁).
Patience is paramount with these guys but running through them will expand your field reference and ultimately make you a better selector.
I like them because it brings me back to my teen years when all we had was bag seed from equatorial imports so thats what i grew in my bedroom closet at the family house.

Anyhow, best of luck with the rest of your run with the Maze! I hope it shows up for you!

What’s up everyone. Nothing too crazy over here. Got to try some weed from other growers this weekend, so that was cool. Excited to ramp up into organics at the start of the year. Really just didn’t keep up on mixing enough soil over the summer and found a big benefit in being able to keep good sized plants in small pots, but I think I should be able to keep soil plants in 1-2 gallons until putting them in 5s(or two in a 15) to flower. For those curious…pretty sure my soil mix will be:

40% compost/vermicompost blend
40% coco
20% lava rock/hydroton/clay pellets/whatever you call them

13 blend cover crop

Dry -
Gypsum
Kelp
Sulfate of potash

Liquid -
Bio-hume(humic acid concentrate)
Fermented fish fertilizer
Cannabis JLF
Oatmeal JMS/JLF

I’ll mix that up at the end of the month and get to going come January. Even more chaos! Side by sides of plants coming. Discussions on pot size and organics coming(:fire:) and every other comparison. Fritter and ts x SSDD #1 will have side by sides first because I am quite familiar with both at this point. Few things to work out still but it’ll be fun. I just like dirt.

Here’s Corey Heime #2. 2 days into flower. (Cuts were taken :sunglasses:)

Here’s a shot of that Trufflez f2. I plan on pulling everything out this weekend to clean up bottoms and get some branches tied in place. I’ll take better shots then. This is what you get for now.

Day 12-13

Another dried shot of TS x SSDD #2. Can’t help but feel this round was effected by the light leak. These are the last of the plants that dealt with it. They’re good, but the smells and flavor aren’t quite on par with the last round of flowers. These dealt with the light leak during weeks 3-4. A little sad I didn’t get to give this pheno a better shot but I think #3 will still beat it out so it won’t mean too much in the end.

Finally catching up with myself. After I pull down some stuff in a week or less, I’ll be able to fill in the flower tent and really get my veg tent back in order. TS x SSDD #1, #3 and SSDD f2 all come down. Purple lemon Thai x lucky lime(x2, maybe 3), chem 91 s1 take their place! Maze has somewhere between 20-30 days left, I think. When it’s down, both Eternal Sunshine will be tossed into flower. Pretty much a whole flip going down in the next month. That’ll leave the Emperor’s Haze IX, Atomic PB&j, Peshawar Trufflez #2, and Maze in the veg tent. None of which I’ve flowered yet. After that round, we start more seeds!

Have a good day everybody :metal:t2::purple_heart:

It’s good to see you’re keeping busy, my friend. Are you concerned that the Maze - bushy as it is - might want less humidity than the other strains in your tent?

I’m trying to stick with organic (ideally living soil) growing too, and have two separate batches of soil cooking for my next round, which is currently in Solo cups. …Finally got around to buying a soil ph tester (been just winging it up until now), and discovered that both batches are too acidic. I’ve added powdered dolomite lime, and am hoping it improves before the seedlings are ready to be up-potted.

What’s up, man. Good to read you :metal:t2: I’m actually not super concerned with the humidity in there and the maze for a couple of reasons. First is that it is so sativa. Even though it is bushy and full, the flowers are nowhere near as dense as anything else in the tent. The SSDDf2 is the smallest plant with the densest flowers and that’s my biggest mold concern really. That and TS x SSDD #1. She’s got 5 or 6 long dense branches. Humidity has been pretty steady at 53-59% with plenty of airflow. Long flowering sativas tend to be pretty mold resistant because they don’t form the densest nugs usually. All that said it could still absolutely surprise me and cause issues. Nothing has molded on me yet in this setup so fingers crossed.

Hell yeah! In my mind, the organic weed I grew was better than the stuff I’ve been growing with salts, but I’m excited to try it all side by side. I haven’t really had the luxury to do so in the past in any controlled way, so I’m pumped. Did you spell out your living soil mix in your thread? I’ll have to peruse the goods. Most recipes I see are a-okay in my eyes, but I’m also a little particular on some things. Diversity and consistency is king with organics in my opinion.

Happy Friday, friends.

Whoops. I do believe she’s hungry. Rpf4 mom really acting like she didn’t get spritzed yesterday. She will come back just wanted to show how dramatic it was.

Left side of the veg tent. The adult side. :arrow_heading_down: Forgot to mention Hawaiian lime ogee too as someone in there yet to be flowered. And Jordon G x B.

Plt x LL females. They’ll get put into 2 or 3 gallons tomorrow and put into flower in 7-10 days from now.

Newest flower additions grooving. Getting cleaned up a bit this weekend. Next week is week three for a couple and I’ll strip them totally.

Plus a whole tent shot. Give me 6 weeks and then canopy will be even :smiling_face_with_tear:

TS x SSDD #1. The flush started for these and the ssdd f2

TS x SSDD #3. Hard to get shots of. Will get more over the coming week.

Dude I just want to sit in the middle of your flower room and breathe that air for a few mins  Nice refreshing positivity right there!

It must be a lot of work taking care of so many plants

Holy awesomeness @DirtySlowToes!! That’s a fantastic tent you’ve got going! Looking forward to hearing how everything turns out, continued success!

No. Up until now, I haven’t been very disciplined with my soil management. I process my kitchen waste compost + yard compost, add it into soil I’ve used before + some fresh Miracle Grow potting soil, add some new stuff (Fox Farm Coco Loco, Epsoma Land & Sea Gourmet Compost), plenty of worm castings, perlite, a dash of fish slush, etc… Basically, it’s a concoction that varies from one grow to the next.

I’ll get my seedlings started with simple potting soil, and introduce the “super soil” as a layer at the bottom half of my pots, when they’re ready to be up-potted. I feed some Epsoma Bio-Tome starter (mycorrhiza) during up-potting, additional worm castings during veg, and Dr. Earth Flower Girl two or three times in bloom. …Not a very scientific approach. I’m trying to keep it simple and cheap.

The recent purchase of a ph tester may be a game changer for me.

Thanks guys. You guys rock.

@MrGreenJeans you sound like you’ve got a good rhythm going on. I’ve liked what I’ve seen when I’ve browsed your thread in the past. I’m definitely curious about the pH testing and how it’ll go. I generally test my runoff whether I’m doing salts or organics but its usually only a few times during flower and not as often as some others. I definitely think there’s value to more testing, I’m just lazy at times and when I see similar numbers in similar spots I feel okay about things. Usually test runoff in week 4ish flower and week 7-8.

This round I’m messing with a harder, shorter flush. Splitting 5-7 gallons of water between the three finishing plants(a 2 gallon & 2, 3 gallon pots) everyday this week.

TS x SSDD #1 tonight. ‘kushy’ smells. Really nice. Vibrating happy sort of high but not love everybody type of happy. Just steady and even.

Oh man. (Goji Ghash x unicorn poop) X Eternal Sunshine. Pulled a top because I saw mold starting. I’ll chop the rest of the plant tomorrow and hang it. Probably pull seeds from the tops and dry them separately to reduce any mold risks. Really eager to drop a few of these. Once they’re dry/have sat I can probably toss a couple out to a couple interested folks that have been along for the ride. Counted 33 in this first top :metal:t2:

That cross sounds pretty wild! The sunshine and the poop should make something unique. I would love to see these grown out

I’m pumped on it. Mom is incredibly hash plant dominant with a short stretch and spicy/hashy/deep greasy funk. Dad stretched 2.5x. Dad seemed to be structurally a pretty even mix of hawaiian and omg. He was resinous and hardy with pretty intense sour citrus/banana leaf smell. I’ll go through them first and see what flowering times are like and what pops up. I’d suggest just letting me sift through these at first to see what’s there because I have no clue how these two will interact. But I’d also love to see them grown. Some could be 9-12 week and others 14-16.

Later today I’ll pull a small nug from the Eternal Sunshine ladies and see if those are done or need longer. If seeds of everything seem ready, it’ll be a serious fight not to immediately drop a few of each.

Take your take pal, i got my future grow planned out already with the snowhigh repro attempt. I would love to see you grow them! Any idea when youre popping them?

Honestly no. Hah! I’m split on hunting through these or dedicating the 4x2 to long flowering sativas. My other maze is small at the moment and it’s really my longest flowering thing… Still not quite sure what will happen, but stuff will happen. I think the blood pheno of eternal sunshine is furthest behind, understandably. I pulled a side nug off and they looked pretty ready but aren’t as dark and striped as the goji ghash set. They may never get that dark but I’ll still give them more time. Ended up with 20+ beans from that side nug though so I dropped 3 to see if they’ll germ. If they do, then we will begin going through eternal sunshine f2s in veg while the f1s flower. I’ll probably give those eternal sunshine plants another 2-4 weeks before chopping. I want those seeds to be ripe. We will see where the tents are at in 6-7 weeks. You’re going to continue to see the word sunshine in every post I make. I’ve got to see what e.s. dad does in crosses and go from there! Good news though, Eternal Sunshine f2s will be had, it seems. Hard to see any issues ruining the whole crop at this point. I think the non blood pheno, the omg leaner is all ready too. Only popped one seed from a nug but it looked ready. I’ll go through more of those tomorrow to see if they’re all like that. Looking like a potentially successful seed run.

Have a good evening everyone. Saw some rust looking spots on the top leaves of the trufflez. Hopefully it’s just calmag hungry and it’s not any fungal issues. I’m heavily leaning calmag but definitely won’t be too confident until it clears up. Dropped the humidity 2% in the meantime. It was getting a reduced calmag feed as it got switched over because I didn’t feel like mixing more than two feeds up each day. It’s been getting a more appropriate feed for two days now so either it’ll be gone soon or it won’t and I’ll pout.

The led that lights my phone screen died somehow? lol so I haven’t had a phone for three days. That is how I take pictures so that is why I haven’t been posting! Seems TS x SSDD #1 really swells if you take it ten weeks. Either that or I just did a better job this round. Very dense, bulbous nugs. I am excited to grow #3 again, too. It has all the sweetness #4 had plus extra bulk and something something there in the smell. Extra funk. It probably could’ve been taken at 9 weeks but I wanted to chop everything at once so it went the extra 6-7 days.

Unfortunately, since my phone was unusable for three days while I waited on a replacement, I wasn’t able to get shots of TS x SSDD #1 or #3 at their finale. I really wanted to get whole plant shots but absolutely did not want to leave them in their until this evening. They were chopped two days ago. Thursday. At roughly 71-72 days. Very different phenos. I am excited to post dry shots. I’ll take a few in the dry tent later or tomorrow but it’s not always convenient to take pictures with where it’s located and the lighting there. I am insanely impressed with how #1 looks this round. Everything seems to smell better, too. Perhaps the temps cooling coupled with me fixing that light leak from last round did more than I thought it would. I also trained/removed more lowers on this round than last. #1 and #3 are both dense. Incredibly dense. Sorry to drop the ball on shots the last week! I’ll be sure to put up a lot of dried shots since these are the two I’m keeping for now until I can go through more of these seeds.

I’ll give updates on SSDD f2 with pictures once it is dry. Sandy trichome feels, very intense sort of sweet funk. Nugs seem fairly small but dense enough that I don’t think the yield will be all that bad. I could’ve trained this one up a little more but I don’t think it’s larfy, really. Will update.

Smoking on pheno #2 of TS x SSDD tonight! I’ll take a couple larger nug shots tomorrow. Funny, chunky, halfway foxtail structure so it’s not necessarily ‘beautiful’ but it’s covered in trichomes and has developed this really nice smell. Lemon bars with gas dripped on them. Really nice gassy sweet lemon. Pretty much an even split on the smells so they play well together. Taste is more sweet gas, but some others may get more lemon. I don’t often get a ton of lemon in the flavor, so it may just be me. Anyway. It’s really great. I’ll sit with it more before any final details. Here she is :metal:t3: edited to add: it reminds me a lot of animal tree from my buddy’s grow. His is more intense smelling with a stronger kushy taste, but I think this has much better effects. Funny how that is. This is definitely a bit more complex where his animal tree is sweeter.

Have a great night. I’ll be caught back up soon!

Edited to add the trichomes that have showed up on eternal sunshine dads clusters! Cool.

Ended up with 1 of 3 seeds germinating from the eternal sunshine batches. So 2 of 6. I’ll plant them to see if they pop soil, but will most definitely leave the rest on the plant to ripen.

(Goji ghash x u.poop) x eternal sunshine pile so far. Have probably this much to shuck still too. Dropped 6 of these earlier to test germ rates. 2 already have tails so I think they’re good but I’ll update as stuff happens.

Goji ghash x unicorn poop. Squat thing with very tight structure. Plus a hair or two because I was fluffing around. Will get a better shot tomorrow as I’m tying the outsides more upright. Trying to really cram the flower tent here this round.

TS x SSDD #2 with the odd shaped tops. This smoke is great but it is slightly harsher than both #1 and #4. Just a note, not really harsh enough for me to mind. I do notice though.

Moved 2 plt x ll today. Tomorrow will be day 1 for them. Trufflez looks like it’ll be a low yield and probably a good trellis candidate. Not my personal favorite on growth but I’ll definitely finish this out and grow it again with its sister before making decisions to get rid of it.

Good rising everyone :metal:t3: the dry tent has me so pumped this round.

Another two eternal sunshine f2 popped tails. That brings the total up from 2/6 to 4/6. I’m still letting them go a bit longer but that is much more reassuring than 2/6. Put one into earth.

Watermelon zkittles x sunshine daydream seem to be ready. Tossed a handful in water last night to check them because they never got super dark. Mom is still up outside. I’ll grab a shot of her and put it up later. They’re tan and seem to be ripe but I hadn’t tested any. There are probably 15 or so in the water and 10 have tails this morning, so that’s cool.

I don’t have tons of plans for these other than seeing what the females are like, so if anyone that follows my thread wants some of these, you can officially reach out. I made these initially because I wanted to keep W. Zkittlez around and didn’t like it’s branch shearing trait. With any luck, SSDD will have an effect on that. Watermelon zkittles came from Pure Options/Pro Grow from Michigan as a clone. I enjoy the smell a lot and I actually don’t dislike the high of the w. zkittlez. It’s uplifting and slightly energetic with a pretty decent overall calming feeling. From what I’ve smoked of this cut(a buddy grew this cut out, but I never flowered it), it has a fairly low ceiling(won’t get you absolutely stupid) but is fairly long lasting. Giggly, but a little bit of a lazy effect on the come down. I believe from fem seeds but I’d have to double check that. I don’t know everything about zkittlez. SSDD male came from syzygys SSDD f2 (bubbashine pheno) pack. I kept a small amount of pollen but this was the only female hit with that pollen. Completely untested, so grower beware. W. Zkittles seemed stable and endured a fair bit of stress, as did SSDD f2, but you can never truly know.

Saw my friend the other day and came home with a couple nugs to try.

Super boof. Really nice grapefruit/citrus/fresh grass or pine smell. Effects are kind of meh for me. Nice hit to the front of the head but that lasts probably 25 minutes before it fades into an okay body stone. Not a bad high, but not necessarily a memorable one either. Felt behind the eyes and tasty enough that it’s probably a good all day type of smoke. It doesn’t hit my mind or body hard enough for me to love it. :arrow_heading_down:

Blueberry Cupcake - what a smell. Really intense blueberry smell before grinding. Once ground it’s a really nice sour fruit smell. Much more yogurt/butter/gas-ish smells. It’s both sweet and sour tasting. Unfortunately it has a bit of what I’d call a cardboard high. It makes my eyes a bit heavy a couple hours after smoking it but it’s hard to distinguish any real high during. It’s one of those ones where you have to convince yourself your high because you smoked weed… I will say that there are some visually stimulating effects. Trees and leaves look nice, but it definitely doesn’t hit for me. It’s probably a great candidate to add hash to or blend with stronger or less tasty stuff. I smoked two bowls from the bong of this with my coffee this morning and my coffee has been the dominant force for me so far. Smells and tastes great, needs help on the high. Final answer. :arrow_heading_down:

Puppy shot. Good puppy, sharp teeth. Pees a lot. 10/10

Be back soon

And I’m back. Peshawar really catching my eye. It’s been outside dealing with the cold and wetter weather as though nothing bothers it. Not sure when I’ll throw the other in flower but I really like this.
