what up og peoples, 46yr old pothead from NC. been in love with this plant since 12-13 years old, popped first beans at 16 after my indoor grower friend had herm and gave me like an oz of seeds. he called this strain “kind” bud (which i later found out was a generic name), a one-hit killer skunk strain he brought back from seattle around 93. i used to pop 20-30 every year indoors under flourescents until they were about 5 nodes then i would top them and transplant to a guerilla spot outside i had prepped ahead of time, they would get checked on at most twice a month for topdressing and cleaning up the spot, many pounds of mids over the course of 20 years was pulled out of that spot and i still have two dozen or so of the seeds. i quit smoking/growing for a period of time in my 30’s at the request of my fiance/gf at the time…ironically he efforts to “clean me up” only led me down a path of pain pills, heroin, cocaine, meth, etc which i am now over the past 10 years finally back on the straight path and have started a small indoor grow that i try to pull a pound out of every 4 months, i have a niece and an elderly vietnam veteran that i supply out of that at no cost to them as well as a half dozen friends i sprinkle blessings upon liberally not to mention my own healthy consumption. been fucking with darkhorse genetics since i got back into this, trying to chase down a good banner to mom-up, my financial situation doesn’t allow me to splurge on clones and good packs so i been fucking with their “pay what you can” promotion, minimum 20$, which is about all i can afford, first time got some “kings banner f2” a banner#3 and og kush (joeseph/louie cross) which had one or two fire plants in the first 6 beans but i was ill at the time and couldnt get cloner setup and all so now i have the last 6 in the pack germinating and hope to get a winner but dont like my odds, running some banner crosses right now: a banner#3xbc god bud (looks like a producer), banner#3xplatinum cookies (sativa looking bud structure) and a banner#3 bx (popped 2 of each this was the only one with 2 females, but its some weird looking weed huge leaves very slow onset of flowering) anyways just wanted to say hi and low-key beg for decent genetics as worrying about cloning before flowering then sexing the clones and stuff is getting old but i refuse to fuck with fems or god forbid autos…so i want to get away from banner for a while and try to get up on some stomper or mac or whatever is the dankest, okay enough of the begging, converting the grow to hydro next run, already on drip lines and see a marked improvement especially in quality of life as i dont have to water manually so i may most a journal, weewilly out

i maybe should have pulled this slut, i pulled her sister and she’s in the show…uhmm…propagation facility revegging, i just misted some clones and sprouts in there so dont wanna be a nusiance to the girls so ill take some snaps later on but the one with the babies throws lots of 3’s, like after 9’s and 7’s, nothing scientific at all about this but old timers like to speculate upon such plants…both are just fucking slow, the one in the tent is sitting on top of a corningware souffle dish just to get canopy level and both since getting their first trues have put out massive blades no shit the first set of 3’s were as big as my hand maybe head, the one with the clones had not really, by the end of the third week since flip even definitively expressed her sex, heavy sativa genetics? they are supposedly bannerxbanner backcrosses, im gonna play it out, ill post a fuller grow journal later if its cool and shit. thanks for warm welcome and cheers!

instead of learning, let’s just say i consume the information and comprehend it always with an eye to deepening my understanding of this miraculous plant, but “in the field”, as it were, it’s always more raw and i find myself facing the plant less like a meticulous cultivator surfing the lifespan of these ladies on top of a clipboard, consulting tables, recording phenomena, dialing in every aspect of the environment…which to a greater or lesser degree is absolutely necessary and is the entire “job” of an indoor grower and as my entire indoor history involved popping seedlings and 3 weeks inside a cardboard box and solo cup with a double fluorescent about six inches away blasting 24hrs/day until i felt they could “make it” outside, after that i was a free range type of guerilla grower, prep a plot, drop the babies in the plot and check back once, maybe twice, a month and at those times it was all business and bounce till next time, indoor more intimate and the dilemma becomes not “i need to check on those plants and maybe feed them soon” but “i need to leave those plants the fuck alone”, eh 1 year(July last year started) indoor growing under my belt, two and a half successful harvests (counting this current one as a half…end of this month will be 8 weeks), haven’t had to make any black market purchases since first cure which saved me untold stacks of folding money, 150-200 for a lid of good middies, shit, ill fuck a lid up in 4 days by myself easily, say a week, its a crazy amount if i think about it, god bless the leaf and the og forum’s denizens. here’s some current pics from week 5, baby girl here (banner3xbcgodbud)
here’s the banner3bx, thought it hermed and seeded itself but the calyxes were just swollen, interesting bud structure, all of the “sugar leaves” are ones after a certain point
lastly here’s the banner3xplatinum cookies, lot of foxtailing on this plant, it just blew up when i flipped em, very gangly and wispy bud structure although some of the shoots evince a more advanced development and are starting to “fill in” this one could surprise me

update on the grow starting week 8 of flower. first off we have the banner3xbcgodbud, named “god’s banner” by the breeder
next girl up is the banner3xplatinumgsc or “platinum banner”, she’s really started to fill in, she’ll probably do 10wks+, just now starting to get frosty and smelly
and lastly the banner f2s or backcrosses, i forget exactly which but a weird morphology, topped it twice, she has 5 colas with ZERO extraneous growth the flower just climbs up the maristem growing from each node identically, like no shit the lowest nug is the same as the top, fat bracts swollen with trichomes, i have clones of this that i will probably attempt a better training regime next run because this bud looks pretty fire but at the same time the yield is ghastly.
