Low height and L-shaped grow area? Maybe led?

I have a small space free which I want to use for flowering. But the height is only 170cm (will put ebb and flood tables under the lights) and the grow area is not square but like a L-shape.

I was thinking that first I need to see what lights I need, then I will buy the proper ebb and flood tables to cover the lighted area.

For my other grows I used hid lights (double ended adjustawings).

But with a non square or rectangle area, I wonder if leds are good because maybe I can build them myself and size them accordingly? Also they might be better in low height circumstances where an hid might burn the plants?

Do you think leds are a good option?

Can you recommend me any brands, parts, kits, tutorials?

I use cmh and cob. Learning about strips.

Many are using led strips when height is an issue since leds are typically closer to the canopy.

Here’s one good resource.

Can you send me the footprint and I’ll see what I can do to help mate

I like working shit out

Yeah dimmable LED strips or quantum boards will take the least vertical space. See the threads started by @Mr.Sparkle or @ReikoX for some ideas on setting up small spaces. They’re growing with very little vertical space, and also grow autos to help keep the height down as well.

170cm of height… phhhh can have two levels in that much if so desired…

consider top watering though with basic trays and run back if needed, ebb and flow just requires so much water and a big res size to operate.

Whats the dimensions of the L shape ?

Agreed these are where my small space knowledge is from lol. There’s a few tricks to keep height down but need the footprint and intention to get a better idea

And there’s me panicking about 150cm lol

Tbf 55cm is taken up with pots and res though

Yeah, my workbench is a out 75 cm cubed and I’ve pulled 7 oz. from there.

still means almost 100cm or 3ft worth of plant with a low profile light

Bridgelux eb gen 2 inspired by some cunt here I forget his name :kissing_heart: with fan/filter. I’ll be looking around 80CM pot top to light so about 50cm growth height available. Not all that much for my skillset

By skillset I mean none :joy:

Never done hydro myself not even coco. But a buddy of mine warned me about ebb and flow tables back in day.
Conclusion was if I go Hydro will do dwc.
Added bonus is no leaks from nutrient salt build up

The only thing someone I’d pay no attention to now said to me that stuck is “friends don’t let friends do DWC” I’ve never seen a DWC run without issues

Damn just about to chuck my bingo pajama in for round two and have nowhere to discard leaves.
So ate some yesterday damn my sinus problem has gone. Took with pinch of salt and went back today for flight check and to remove the final branches before flowering as someone liked this and wants cuts.
By sinus problem had come back but within 30 minutes I can breathe again!!

Takes me a couple of days of pseudo ephedrine to get anywhere near this. But it’s more it’s like someone shoved a vix up my nose too.
I noticed plants with menthol and mint that I attributed to the Appalachian.
I only kept bp#1 which is apple ish grapefruit.
But the guy I gave clones to said another flavour that rang true.
Nice strain though the other doner don’t wanna keep it where there’s away hey

Tube fluoros running on an electronic ballast will do you fan-fucking-tastically. These lights and their ballast produce no appreciable heat, at the tops of the plants or coming off any part of the fixture. This means you can allow the plant tops to actually go up and TOUCH the light bulbs and during 12/12, you now have buds with absolutely no loss in energy from the solar substitute due to square distancing.

It’s pretty fucking awesome.

ok guys here is the area that I can use. It is under the stairs behind a big old heating device which is not used anymore. The entry to that area is not very wide as you can see on the first picture (maybe it is 0,3m to 0,4m wide).

Floor is rectangle 2m(width of the left and right wall)x1,5m(width of the stairs and the small wall under the stairs)

Heigth of the small wall under the stairs is 1m.

In the middle of the room the height is 1,7m (ok there are also the pipes running under the stairs, minus 15cm maybe).

and the highest point of the room at the end of the stairs is 2,20m.

I was thinking about a rectangle shape because I need to enter the space somehow and be able to reach all the plants.

I looked into the led tutorials. There they used one or several big led (cob?). Is that the way to go? I saw some shops offer boards with many smaller leds (like the quantum boards, is that smd?).

What you think would be a good solution? several smaller or less bigger? What is the difference?

Also can somebody tell me how to find out what light footprints the leds produce???

Also what do you think about medialess growing? I have issues with getting enough media (rockwool, ebb and flood) and disposing of it. I was thinking of changing the method, maybe nft?I guess I will open a new thread for that. But it means I am open to changing the method, if I have less hassle with growing media.

ok guys. I think the smaller leds (stripes?) are better suited.

I need to get some lights quickly.

Can you tell me where to get good leds in europe? I think its more easy concerning customs.

the stuff @Baudelaire sells is only shipped from US?

EDIT: I read a bit more and I am thinking about running
a Meanwell HLG-240H-C1050 driver with

12x 3500k 98x Samsung LM301B running with the 1050mA

each 98x Samsung LM301B stripe is 50cm.

I think my grow area is maybe 1m x 0.5m.

what you guys think?

SolStrips can be, and are, shipped throughout the world. We can ship a dozen strips to most countries from Sweden to South Africa and Australia for less than $30.

That sounds like the way to go. Those Samsung leds are a lot better than what is mentioned above.

Good luck on building your setup. I’m hoping for pics when you complete the project!
