Making flower rosin

What’s the best temps, amount of pressure, and time for pressing flowers? How dry should they be?

I press my flower in a 90 micron bag at 95°C for about 3 minutes with a 30 second heat up. I don’t have a pressure guage.

The method described above will make quality flower rosin with the right inputs for sure. Shameless plug for a thread I put up a bit ago but you might find something else of use in there. Happy Squishing!

It is very strain dependant. Some I have to press at 90C to get any real result. Others will give great result at 75C. You need to find out what works for you
But the range in general from what I have heard is in the ball park of:

70C to 90C
2 minutes to 4 minutes

As for pressure, that depends on the area of the final puck size. The bigger the final puck size the more weight you need to have the same pressure over area. I do approximately 1.6 Tonne per square inch.

As an example, I am currently pressing Jack Herer which is good for pressing and the final puck size is usually around 4 square inches so I am pressing at 6.5 Tonne at 80C for 2 minutes after a 30 second warm up. To warm it up I just put light pressure on it. Not enough to register on the gauge

Temp wise, the lower you go, the better the final product looks like. It’ll be lighter in colour and look more flakey or hash like which should be tastier BUT it also lowers yield. Pre heating is a must imo if using lower temps like 70 to 80.

It is all very strain dependent though so you might want to start off by squeezing small amounts to see what comes out best.
