Mayhem's First Grow Journal V1

The basement is a fairly decent size, but the flower area we currently have is 2x6 and the tent is 4x6 (4x4 laid sideways). I am planning on switching the veg room to be the new flower room and vice versa. Then I will be doing sea of green growing from then on. I am taking the 315cmh out all together and replacing it with the LED in veg and buying 2 Mars SP6500’s for the flower area. Then I might buy a carbon filter and exhaust fan so I can keep it closed without messing with it. Thanks for the compliment I hope to show better yields as time passes with the new setup! Also I am in the process of Pheno hunting so some of these cups are showing as males and being trashed and the weak clones are also being tosses away as well as slow growers and runts. Then a few are clones still rooting. I hope to have a more manageable plant count soon and a tray and dome for the clones as well.

Finally got the new light on friday! It’s now installed and rarin to go:grin::vertical_traffic_light:. Also got more soil and 2 gallon pots to accommodate the new flower space. Still need about 15 more, and maybe 10 or so 1 gallons, but i’ll get that on the next trip. Also I need to grab som Recharge, an exhaust fan and filter, a clone kit with light, and a few minor items like humidity packs and such.

Here we have the “new veg space”. I swept it out before putting them in and have started to up pot some of them to 2 gallons so they don’t become root bound or more root bound and have a nutrient feeding from the fresh soil (lifesaver in living soil). The 315W CMH has been turn down to 50%. I’m wondering if that is good enough or if I should turn it up to 75%.

Also some bud shots of the plant currently farthest along. This plant is only at the end of week 7 and is the frostiest plant in my garden!! BGS #6 AKA ABS Pheno (Already been smoked =ABS, given to it from the smell it gives off while vegging).

Firstly I would like to thank Mars Hydro for making, IMO, a very affordable light with high quality pieces. My digital greenhouse 630w CMH from my local grow store (which I can’t even use) was as much as the Mars led and I prefer Mars for flowering because I love the way the buds have improved in only a week with only one in there and there is less heat! Now it has been a little over 2 weeks since I got the first and on Tuesday we received our 2nd light (amazing timing for 4/20, it wasn’t planned that way haha lucky coincidence😁). I set them up 18" from the edges so currently there is a foot gap in the middle technically and we were thinking that can be the area for plants a week or two from harvest since they’ll still get some amount of light. Eventually we may end up ordering a third one which would fill all the area equally but 2 will have to do for now.

I went to Amazon again😅 and ordered 10 1-gallon vivosun smart pots with 6" drain trays (they are too small for the one gallons so I’m gonna go up to 8", glad I only got 1 pack), a 10 pack of 10" trays for flower and a super sprouter propagation kit with 18" T5. It did not come with the insert for the cubes so I will get that from my local grow store next week as well as a couple more bags of soil. It’s been nice to upgrade and change out things. I have watched so many YouTube videos, read many forum posts, and spent countless hours devoting myself to this because this is what I love and what I would love to do full time😍. Baby steps.

Chop chop goes bagseed 6 AKA possible apple fritter bagseed. Here are a few photos from today’s harvest. This time I actually got my first true fade on a plant. Even though it may not have been a full fade its still pretty good! In the tent today to dry for 7-8 days then into jars to cure.

Here are some picks of the apple Fritter after trimming yesterday, it yielded 1 oz from that plant. Decent, not great. It was jarred after trimming and has started curing.

Here are a couple pics of it I believe a couple days before it was done drying. There was some color in this ones leaves as it dried, but the one we chopped 2 days ago has a little more color in the drying process due to them getting the new LED’s at different stages in their life cycle. I am amazed at how well I have done in a short time of growing and continue to aim for better quality overall!

Another apple fritter got the chop today, this one is super dense, the densest one yet spending about 4-5 weeks under the new lights. It smells amazingly similar to an actual apple Fritter and is colorful as can be with purple, red, pink, green, hints of yellow, and of course white from all that frost!

It’s going in the tent to dry at 68-70 degrees with humidity between 60-70 in the beginning few days then tapering off to 55 near the end. :sunglasses::dash:

Edit: I also chopped a stunted apple fritter on the 5th and jarred it on the 10th, it produced 20g.

Oh man been a busy few weeks. So let’s start at the beginning, shall we? FYI: I won’t be posting many apple fritter shots unless it’s in the photo collage of this past weekends harvest which will get to later.

So when we last left off I chopped an apple fritter that produced 20g of bud that had a few seeds. I expected this as we found a couple pollen sacks on about 3/7 of them as we were trimming.

I chopped a 4th apple fritter, shown above, maybe a week to 10 days after that, this one if I recall had no pollen sacks but was seeded more then the others and yielded 39 grams of excellent flower (in about 20g of bud I found at least 15 seeds, this one got hit the hardest by the pollen and took most of it in; as a side note I know what caused the slight herm issues and it was completely user error because I didnt turn off and on the light at the right time. Basically sometimes they got too much light or too much darkness). Every apple fritter has been fading better, more consistently, and have shown increases across the board in potency, yield, etc…

So skip to last friday and it was time to chop 6 plants. 1 Lucky 7 #1, 1 Lucky 7 #2, 1 Ninja Fruit prob cut a little early for space needs, 1 Runtz bagseed and 2 Apple Fritter shown in the pics below in no particular order. I’m not 100% on what’s what in the photos so hope you enjoy anyway!

Sorry for the spam. I am amazed at this harvest and the plants have come a long way from the first time I added the lights until now, WOW! I can’t wait to keep improving an learning for future grows. Speaking of which let’s drop a quick pic of them from yesterday .

I’ll be starting up a YouTube channel July 1st and try to make it to 10k so I can reach out to Mars Hydro for sponsorship. If you would like to keep and eye out and subscribe it would be awesome and if you let me know here who you are i’ll follow back. I’ve capped out on seed to stoned, welcome to the grow tent, the growtube, and a couple other channels and love new content from fellow growers! Cheers!

Does your plants actually smell/taste like apple fritter? Cause that’s something right there.

I haven’t had anyone test it for me, but from my experience yes there is a very sweet pastry like scent and taste, once I have some feedback i’ll know for sure what others think.

What’s the info on the parents?

How many have you ran already that smell like this :flushed: ?

I’d be Interested in trying this out, especially its gonna taste like an apple fritter/Pastry type sent/taste. :yum:

Quickly viewed some of your photos, nice looking plants, you seem to run a bunch at once.

I have ran 7 or 8 and they have all smelt this way with the mother having a slightly milder scent because it was flowered under cmh and not my new leds. If you want a few clones i’d be down to work something out. I would love a 2nd opinion as it was a bagseed and I did my best to pinpoint the strain from a list of 20 possibles.

That’s alot of possibilities lol  dang…

I’m actually pretty interested in your Apple fritter strain … Shoot me a PM and we can work something out.

YouTube is actually Quasar Garden haha. Just posted an update today! I will also doing an update here later, but I am sure those video are more detailed as to what’s been happening between the weeks.

I’ll sit here and enjoy myself. I love watching you all grow.

Oh man, where to start . Between working extra hours at work, trimming the plants harvested in the last update, getting the previous run completed, and setting up my IG and Youtube I have been really busy and kept forgetting to updated here. You can find complete info on the last run but let me give you a quick rundown before I get to the harvest pics.

So from the get we had issues. I overfed them at one point, kept the lights at 100% pretty much the whole grow trying to figure out the daisy chain function in the beginning, and my bro left one of the lights on around the 4th or 5th night and it cause 2 of the plants to herm pretty bad. I didn’t catch it in time and a few plants that I know of have gotten very lightly seeded, but it wasn’t as bad as last time it seems. I decided to get rid off the #2 Pheno of Lucky 7’s all together after growing both phenos twice. It had a nice chemmy smell and put on decent weight on one of the pants, but it didn’t stack nearly as well as the #1 Pheno. Nor did it have any color or as much yield. The GMO did about the same as the last time I grew it, hopefully with a net and properly increasing the light I can increase the yield otherwise it’s perfect. Ninja Fruit performed better then i’ve ever seen. It has the same smell and color, but this time the yield definitely increased and I was able to let it finish unlike the last grow where I chopped them 2 weeks early for space. White Skunk x Longbottom Leaf did amazing in the 2 gallon and even the 1 gallon was better then my first time growing it. Big grenades of dank. Happy with the yield, but would have loved to get more of a smell. We’ll see how it cures and see if it gets the smell I remember. As for Blizzard Bush it was my first time growing it. Frost and color looked pretty good. The yield could have been better, but I may have chopped it about a week early. The apple Fritter came out in the middle. Not the worst, but not the best. Only prob was yield (hoping the net increases yield for all the low yielders. The Arctic Fallout is still finishing up in a separate space. I haven’t smoked this strain yet, but I did grow 2 phenos a while back and this is the more elongated spear cola Pheno. One thing I did noticed was different is the smell is strong unlike the others I could barely smell. Smells like candied cereal. Like a jolly rancher and Fruity Pebbles had a baby. Definitely excited to try that one the most! I ran out of the fox farm flower nutrient from week 3-6 but picked up the Flora Series Performance Pack + Botanicare Cal-mag+ and gave them 2 regular strength feedings almost back to back to help try and catch them up or slow the Fading. It seemed to have worked. All in all I learned a lot and have since harvested Sunday and flipped the new batch.

Pictured in random order are: 3 Arctic Fallout, 3 GMO x SS, 3 Ninja Fruit, 2 Blue Hawaiian Sativa, 1 Cactus, and 2 Lucky 7’s #1 under a 3.5" trellis currently on week 1, day 3 as of this post.

Now for the bud porn :heart_eyes::

Spotted Lime Auto got the chop today at day 80. Has a strong zesty funk! It’s in the dry chamber now for 10-14 days then a jar for the cure.

Also been updating my grows more so on YouTube, if not already definitely Follow along for weekly updates of each grow.

We flipped the new batch into flower 17 days ago and have them trellised. We had 1 male GMO x SS pop up somehow in week 2 so the count is 3 Arctic Fallout, 3 Ninja Fruit, 2 GMOx SS, 2 Lucky 7’s, 2 BHS, and 1 Cactus. On Sunday we heavily defoliated and lollipopped all the remaining girls and have been continuing to weave tops through the net as the stretch reaches it end this week. Gave them nutes on day 1 and day 13 of flower I believe. Other then that not much to report so I’ll drop a couple pics.

Bought a new 4x8 vivosun tent since things have been going pretty well. I will be updating here frequently again I have just been swamped and exhausted lately. We are on a new grow since the last update and we are in the middle of week 7! I will post a couple pics of tent 1 and tent A (Which is in week 3) when I make it home. Switched over to the Advanced Nutrients Starter Kit over Flora Series Performance Pack. The Blackberry breath I popped ended up with 3 females out of 7 and I’ll flower them this run or next. Also got only 1 female Ninja Smash (Ninja Fruit x Bruce Banner #3). Out of 11 it was the only one to break ground, and luckily for me, turned out female. So now our mothers Include Arctic Fallout, Blue Hawaiian Sativa, Blueberry, Blackberry Breath (3 phenos), Cactus, GMO x Sunset Sherbet, Ninja Fruit, and Ninja Smash. We decided to get rid of the Apple Fritter bagseed, Blizzard Bush, Lucky 7’s, and White Skunk x Longbottom Leaf. They all lacked in the taste and smell department and Apple Fritter only yielded well when it was trained perfectly. We have some GMO Zkittles from Ethos and Mando from Solfire Gardens coming this week that I am excited to pop.
