Mel franks GDP run

And to be completely candid I’m like a dictabird. I can repeat things I read but am not expert. I did a tissue culture class and was blown away by how these plants do what they do and why they do it.

Do you thin it would be difficult to do micro tissue propagation with cannabis in a home settinh? To be able to store strains away in an agar solution to pull out at a later date if needed?

Oh, I got a question then. What gel media would be best just to keep cuttings in for storage or shipping? Possibly to root in, but mostly the storage/shipping possibilities. Not getting into the whole tissue part, just as a media for standard cuttings.

My friend at cannomic laboratories (they have a website)Products — Cannomic sells pre made rooting and shooting media they make. Agar is the best gel media, just doesn’t have the nutritional needs for a plant. That’s where you add stuff to the agar before making it. But there is enough company’s out there now that you can buy kits off eBay for 60 bucks and get the general idea of things.

It’s is incredible easy and possible to do. That’s why I got into it. I’ve also watched @MadScientist and what he has been doing and also @SCJedi as these folks are leaps and bounds ahead of me on what to do in the tissue culture realm. But it never starts if you don’t start it, right? Also I’ve found kits on eBay that can get the ball rolling.

It’s totally possible but the way you ask oversimplifies it quite a bit. It’s not as simple as putting something into culture and only removing it from the shelf when needed. The plant needs to be “maintained” which may mean a variety of things from thinning out, multiplying, changing physical media to refresh nutrients or alter hormone balances, etc. In summary, remember that once you put something into culture you need to have a plan what to do with it in 2-4 weeks because there is a future commitment to keeping the culture alive and kicking

It’s still a growing plant, not in stasis like a seed.

Nothing new to report. I think the gdp male made magic in a few places. That and or the drzyme I am using has decided to turn most of the beginnings pistils brown. We shall see. I can see one or two of the early ones already swollen. I wanted to let them develop a little more before this happenstance took place.

I find getting the hairs wet or even just touching them can make the hairs brown or red a bit.

I think it has to do when it was made, my guess is it has been in a fridge waiting for day light for a while. I again have not looked into kens stuff except for the name got put out there about the original gdp. It would be great to know the history more but Mel didn’t respond to the question about it. Oh well another lost piece lol. In all reality my goal was to find reputable old gear that was stored proper. That’s what did it for me. I wanted to remove years of others hands. Time capsule if you will. Rather start a journey into the past before jumping into the future. Of course now I’ll have to be a bit more involved in researching this strain.

If anyone knows how to contact Ken I’m all ears for sure. Can’t regally find much out there that’s recent.

I didnt mean one was better then the other or anything, just always curious as to why when i see other companies selling some one else’s gear for the same price or more, like blueberry…just wondering if it was changed somehow and people find that more desirable.

I’d be thinking kens would be better, closer to the source.
