This is a really cool thread. I can see it being very useful for ppl with limited grow space.
hi eS,
I haven’t tried cutting in half but I did try removing them entirely, which did help lower branch growth but stunted the plant in general.
since I saw a clip of a clone facility where they stopped cutting leaves on clones because they did substantially worse in rooting, I feel better about leaving all solar panels on for at least the first three weeks.
leaving the ponytail on for much longer doesn’t feel right for me.
that’s hardly scientific but I’ve seen issues with moisture in that bundle of leaves.
and the top half of the plant needs light as well, this way it can fully recuperate before night
be well
well here’s a first, I did actually FIM …but not as I planned it
don’t know how but I managed to almost entirely cut off the leaf portion of the 5th node leaves, but leaving their stems and actual developing tiny nodes intact, while at the same time FIMing node 6 which seems to be forming multiple nodes.
foul language not to be repeated here could be heard while I was trying to get that into focus on my ancient phone, swaying like an old drunk
I’ll think of something.
not sure to top her as planned or to let go and see what comes of it
nightynight all
hi all,
well, I decided to stick to the gameplan and chopped above node four.
mainly to find out if and how my strategy works out in this little tent, for future reference
been ponytailing for a week now and I was ready to do her do when I saw she’s just at that tipping point
so I tucked her hard and good and I guess from here on I’ll be tucking.
for the record, I didn’t ‘invent’ any of this, credit where credit is due
the ponytailing I picked up on from this thread: Ponytail LST | The Autoflower Network
just put my twist on it.
this is where I got the ITPpot-idea from as well but somehow still can’t find that thread
be well
hi all,
this is how she greeted me this morning. I just love how those top leaves broke free, loving that light
be nice
hi all,
good morning on day 24
today is a good day for a watering and pumping the system. no tucking, no training, just evaporating
from the first node branches I denoded the first tiny node, way down there in the dark, hoping for a little more ‘oompf’ at the tip at the same time.
happy growing, be nice
hi all,
so this is what you look like at the end of a day off
now for a good night sleep and back to training tomorrow
be nice
hi all,
yeah, well… rinse n repeat. keep training her, let her build a little more
will try to open her up a bit when she wakes up
be nice
hi all,
well, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t manage to shoot myself in the foot, one way or the other
I was too heavy-handed with my little sweetheart n now I’m a cryin in ma beer…
broke one of her top branches …taped it up best as I could, now Im prayin
be nice (and have a soft touch ;o)
That’s all it needs, you’d be surprised by the damage you can do that they will recover from…
Cheers
G
So im of the mind that people should try things so they learn from it and that everyone has there own way of doing things.
Also im one who will share my own experiences to try and better those around if i think it can help.
Training in a micro environment and in general typically one does not have to do anything till stretch starts at most doing some fan leaf tucks prior to prioritize light to side branches which does help with bushing though is more dictated by the plants expression, typically newer growers tend to not leave the plants to do there thing as were just here to help them not force them.
Consider your previous hair tying of the leaves you chopped, if left alone those photocells are out and absorbing light making sugar and causing new growth, tucked up, clipped away, or yanked over to the side they aren’t being utilized as well as they could be or if at all.
hi all,
see, this is why I love this place so much
@Mr.Sparkle is right, of course; help, not force them. makes so much sense…
you learn most from your mistakes.
or as Paul Stamets puts it: “there is no such thing as failure, failure is the price you pay for tuition (IF you pay attention!)”
so thanks for a valuable lesson learned
be nice
hi all,
been gone for a couple of days, she survived. or should I say thrived because of that dose of LITFA LOL
the branch that broke off is still there, green too but I don’t think it’ll be in the race
I’m a bit stumped where to go from here. I feel like I missed the window for her cut as I planned
she’s @day 32 right now
be nice
Id just keep LST’ing for now and see if it needs another topping in a week or so.
To me the plant looks good, but then again, you might have different goals!
Cheers and have good weekend,
eS
good morning,
the only real goal was to find out if this little tent would allow for a summer grow without frying off the terps. now is not yet a problem of course.
she’s doing great, it’s just that I’ve come to question my approach.
but I’ll let her go for a bit more
hi all,
I let her go for a bit. foliar sprayed her with some cal/mag and silica
she perked up pretty nice, I’ll be flipping her in a couple of days
be nice
It looks like you gave her just what she needed! looking forward to her progress.
