I’ll use blue paint tape. Cheaper the better. I’ll fold both side’s. Then when I fold it. The sides folded makes it easy to remove. Nothing wrong with a great idea.
Thanks. I have plenty trim tape.
I’ll try that.
It may have already been said but the main reasons I think folks step up in pot size is they can keep an eye on root development and when you put a little rootball into a larger container it’s easy for a noob to over water the pot therefore inviting root issues from them being too wet. Our favorite plant doesn’t like wet feet.
Nice set up and thread you got going here, I’ll be following along.
Y’all be good to one another.

I heard some guys on a podcast on youtube talking about the white teflon tape from the plumbing section of a hardware store. It’ll suck down real tight if you need it to, there’s not any adhesive to worry over and it’ll stretch as the plant grows.
Sounded legit to me so I’m gonna try it next time just to see how it works.

Welcome to the thread. Jump right in please!
Plumbers tape has strong fibers that run the length of the tape. It does have a little stretch but I don’t see it having enough stretch if more than two wraps are used.
I assume it would be just fine to use but, like any other taping job, you’d have to watch it close. Said the guy who didn’t. LOL
I’m interested to see it if you do try.
It’s time for a quick update on the juveniles.
Here’s the room.
Sorry about the lighting. I just bought the supplies to add a breaker and run a new circuit for regular lights in there (set on a timer as well so no medicated slipups).
Let’s start with the Purple Kush. The underside of the leaves are turning purple! Is this anything I should be worried about?
I took those two low branches off trying to get a little more height but since she is gaining so slowly I decided to allow her to grow natural, without any topping and minimum defoliation.
Skywalker @Greasy The Skywalker and GDP are KILLIN it!
It’s obvious I did a pulldown with no twist. I did that so that if the lights have trouble keeping up I might gain just a little room by pulling that girl over and running her closer to the wall. Just thinking things out before I get too far into veg.
Grandaddy Purple
I topped her and plan to train her leaving four branches just as I did Beast last grow. That made for a perfect square with a tabletop canopy and plenty of bud sites. I will do that to three of these plants. I have six branches left now. I’ll pick the top four (probably) to grow out unless the top two don’t kick into gear. If not then I’ll do the bottom four. It’ll be harder to water but doable.
Cookies Kush (same topping as GP)
Critical Kush. I just went ahead and topped her as a friend suggested. then tied the lower branches straight out. I believe he’s right. I most likely have enough lighting to handle it all and I have two blurple’s that I could add on.
Now I have to ask advice from all my friends.
Here’s the White Widow. Topped in the Beast manner.
Look at the discoloration on the leaves.
Well, any thoughts? I know that the discoloration having not developed much might be hard to identify.
There it is. I’m planning an update on the clones very soon (after the splint is removed in four days).
As usual, I took pictures just before watering so some (especially the clones) are droopy right now. I’ll plan better next time.
As usual, thanks for following along all!
May you all be blessed beyond measure this week.
Hi MoBilly I’ll be along for the ride, those Spider Farmer lights should do the trick, they’re supposed to give a good spread of light.
Everything’s looking mighty fine to me, wouldn’t care the slightest bit about the coloration.
It’s called Purple Kush for a reason. It’s all extra vitamins or something.
Welcome Jango!
I’m pleased that you will be checking out the thread.
Just jump in anytime you feel like it.
I could fill a library with what I don’t know, yet, so anything you see that I might miss, throw something at me.
Looking at your girls I think you’ve got it nailed, and that repair job is perfect.I used duct tape once, read that the glue is a natural gum base? That branch grew some good buds.
When I was growing outdoors I broke a young plant’s stem moving it to get more sun, it was only one node down from the top so in my panic I searched the net for consolation and learned that I had successfully topped her and all was well. As they say weed is weed and hardy.
You should see some of the closeup stuff I did to the clone I call twisted sister. These plants are indeed resilient.
Nice selection of strains. Lot of indicas. Plants look good to me. That leaf doesnt look concerning. Ive seen single leaves do that from a ph flux to having a different light hitting that side. Wind ect. Dont see any evidence of bugs and newer growth is happy. It could always be plucked off just in case its a start of anything fungal or hit with neem or h202. You got some custom training and splintwork going here. That was first time i seen splint done with the aloe like that but i cant think of a better way.
Thanks so much @rooted
I had read where people used aloe in a cloning process. I always keep some around so why not try it on this. Right?
I’m planning on taking the patch off in three days. The 28th will be ten days.
It’ll be interesting to see the change.
Thanks for weighing in.
Great looking girls. Good reads also.
Thank you @anon62804309 .
I like reading your stuff too.
I got too busy today and did not get around to removing the patch from twisted sis.
That’s my first project in the morning.
I see a touch of yellowing at the very tips on two plants so I raised the lights some. They are getting a lot more height, hope that’s all it is.
Am watering those two tomorrow so I’ll run a ppm test on them.
More tomorrow, well, today I guess.
Hi MoBilly, fellow novice following along here; nice thread. Curious to see how that aloe splint unfolds! I made the switch from cloneX to straight aloe this year and I’d say it performs at least, equally as well for my cloning.
I do some training, mostly just try to keep all my tops to a similar height. I’m curious about the twist technique; any insights about that you’d like to share?
Looking good brother! I’d concur nothing to worry about with the p kush or the ww.
I just smoked a bowl of skywalker yesterday for the first time. Candy sweet flavor / smell with a hint of citrus…maybe lime? Indica leaning but not couch lock at all. Super dense nugs. Very pleased
I’m stoaked to try mine!
Just out of curiosity I checked the prices at a couple of dispensaries.
Wow! It’s crazy! Do they think all those medical patients are stinking rich?
Thank God for my permit.
Thank you so much @catapult .
Sure. I never mind explaining my craziness if I can.
Pot plants are fragile when it comes to nutrients, water, light…
But they THRIVE with a certain amount of physical damage.
For instance, if a branch breaks and repairs itself, you will see that there is a swelling at the point of healing.
The stem fibers are widened to allow more nutes through to heal the “presumed attack”.
Take that concept further and you find that if you intentionally twist, bend to the point of almost breaking (or even breaking occurs), or impaling the stems with knives or bamboo skewers throughout the plant, you open up the stems all over the plant at those points.
You have now created a super highway for water and nutes.
The results prove the concept.
I’ve seen it done with great success but I wanted to test the method.
Hence the two identical twins; Twisted and Pampered.
I hope that this helps Catapult.
I’m sure you can find better examples of the process on here. I was testing a twist without giving enough thought to form.
It’s truly an art form for these growing gurus.
