Motormouth seed run (Foulmouth autos) & others -2024-

Hunters that plant food plots keep deer out with 2 single electric strands. One outside 9in off the ground and another 18 in closer to the plot that is 27in high.

It doesn’t take much. About 7" off the ground

Beautiful! I knew I was winging it with heights/specs there but knew that multiple layers is key. OG knowledge bank FTW!

@Sebring you just need to lure a Siren Head.

That’s keep them freezer meats from ruinin’ yer lawn!

I have kept animals for years and haven’t been able to keep them out with the one strand live and the other as the ground. I have also used the 4, 5 and 6 strands method. If they want in they have never been deterred :grinning:

It is done. I could look it up for sure on some of the deer plot sites. They plant foodplots in high traffic deer areas and fence them until established. I would assume with the staggered diagonal set up ,both would be hot single wire. I have not done this myself.

I am sure it has and worked for some. My neighbor has many food plots going. I just said what my experiences have been.

Just a quick update on the plants. These photos could be better, but lots of plants are growing.

I just received a giant sack of deer fodder seeds that I’m going to plant in an adjoining field, hopefully to act as trap plants for the deer. I’m putting in a 5 ft tall field fence around the area where I’ll be growing the cannabis and then adding a strong wire fence about a foot outside of that one. A lot of the plants will also be grown inside poly tunnels which should make it even more difficult for them to get in.

Human hair is a great deterrent for deer.

Irish springs soap repels deer too.
And Dog hair as well. I know I have plenty of that :joy:

And I think it was said here, but I used to use the strongest clear fishing line I could find and encircle my girls at 3 different heights.

One neck level
One chest level
One ankle level

I was told that the deer will hit it and not be able to understand what they are bumping into so they will back away and find a different path.

I can honestly say it has worked for me ever since I first tried it.

I did a ton of guerilla growing, and would wrap the line that way around the trees closest to my girls, and I never had an issue with deer.
Slugs…slugs can kiss my a*$…I loath slugs lol
but the deer left me alone.

I’ve got two pro slugger ducks that have already found and eaten most of the slugs. The ducks got pest control covered for me! We also got four chickens, but they’re still adolescents, that should help with insects as well.
I do have some high-strength line, that even I have trouble cutting, that I should be able to use to guard the plants with.

Ya know, if you have access to a cats littler box, you can line your fence with the kitty litter.
Deers smell the urine as a cat. Any cat. And they tend to stay clear of mountain lions.
I do this around my rose’s.

My brother and I spent the last week cutting the tall grass, tilling up the area and removing all the large rocks. Today I was able to get most of the plants into the ground and water them. I still need to finish the polytunnels, but I have time to do that before they’re big enough to throw pollen/be pollinated.
