Build what? The buckets?
Lol yeah the amazon dwc… Just saw you went with a diff setup
Nods, just went straight hempy
Yeah this is why i asked. I have found that there seems to be a band where you can run the high pH like you are but you have to drive the nutes harder. If you were to run that hard with lower pH it would burn the plants. I have seen several people grow like this in DWC now and all have had good results. Back in the day it was unheard of as far as I knew. I like the pH of 5.6 to 5.8 because it allows me to run an EC of around 1.1 to 1.2 for most strains so far which makes it much cheaper on nutes.
Thats crazy…I never heard that…running hotter nutes doesnt mean bigger buds and plants so I guess id rather save on nutes
Yeah for sure. However, i think the benefit is that you get more variability or fine control so to speak. Because the plant cant pick up the nutes easily at that pH it seems that you can run hotter nutes without burning them as they will not uptake it as fast. People who do it that way seem to be able to vary their nutes by around 1.0 EC total while growing. Where as keeping a res at 1.1EC like I do in my setup is not easy. Such fine adjustments as going up by 0.2 EC can change a plant from happy to burnt. I have found that people growing with high pH are able to be more haphazard with their nute strengths and get away with it. I have a second tent and I have been thinking about testing growing with high pH in DWC in a few months time.
…and yes. It doesnt seem to make a difference to the end result. The plant still takes up what it needs as long as you do it right. It just seems to make the controlling of the solution easier. However, it could also make the grow more robust in general, who knows. It may make the plants immune systems work better/worse, or could make the plant less/more resistant to stress, etc. Won’t know until a comparison is done. My expectation is there will be no difference. Just more nutes tossed out.
Give met people who run 2.4EC at the normal pH
I never understood it
@nefrella Good Day Lady I see a temp of 61 or is that your humidity at 61%?
if your buckets are running at 61F that is cold for the bucket
all the best and be safe
Dequilo
@dequilo 61% rh and 72 degrees.
The flower tent, first thing in the morning ive seen it as low as 59 degrees. Not sire what to do about the fluctuation, theyre in the garage (which isn’t tied to the hvac system)
@nefrella “The flower tent, first thing in the morning ive seen it as low as 59 degrees.”
here is what I have found in my grows, if you let the temperature become cold in your root
zone no matter the media your plants will grow slower
so if you can some how keep your root zone at whatever the optimum temperature is for the
media over night the happier your plants will be
I grow mostly in soil-less I like to keep my grow space with an air temp of 67 - 68 F
which at about 18 -24 inches off the floor keeps my 3 gallon pots at 65 over lights out
I have to run a small electric heater to do this as it very cold where I live
it is easier to keep media warm after lights out than to heat it after lights on
all the best and enjoy the day

Exactly - once my soil plants finish in the flower tent, going to have to rethink how I grow, at least during the winter months.
simply raising them off a cold floor helps a bunch
Nods, ill get some work benches or pallets i think, I can get those for free all day at work
it is simple as that I always have a thermometer at rootball/pot level and have it out of the light
it is good to know what is going on
they are cheap they can have remote senors and record temperature events over the day/night
while you are away so you know what is happening not what you think is happening
most us are here for one reason knowledge and that is power more you know about any subject
the more power you have with in it
you are doing great
all the best and grow em big
Dequilo
Hahahaha, the plant at the top right - i think that shall be called “the hempy dance” I think its finally hit the reservoir
They lookin a lil hungry… Very pretty though
I found that I have a hydro store less than a mile from my house…. Picked up a better meter, guy calibrated it for me before I left, so I know it works lol.
This will be the new setup once my soil grows are done. Will end up with 12 plants, which is perfect for the 1 light. 5x5 flower footprint, ill be using 4x4, with room to spare on the end for 2 extra plants, or to sex clones etc.
HI
I’m just starting my first grow also.
Also I’m posting my first grow journal .
r u having fun yet ( or still)?
