N+ Amino Acids just Soy Protein Powder?

At the risk of sounding stupid, I was curious if anyone knew the answer to this. I’ve been seeing Soy Hydrosolate based Amino acids for Nitrogen in organic farming for a hot minute. Now, I see Brandon Rust using his own product called Amino N+.

From what I can tell, it’s just soy protein powder?

i wouldnt know but interested in finding out

According to google:

Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) is produced by boiling foods such as soy, corn, or wheat in hydrochloric acid and then neutralizing the solution with sodium hydroxide or evaporating the acid off under vacuum. The acid breaks down the protein in vegetables into their component amino acids.

So basically, you take soy powder, boil it in HCl and then vacuum purge or neutralize. I bet getting that, or just buying HSP on eBay is the cheap route.

I wonder, since the bokashi is N+, if they are using nitric acid to make it, instead of hydrochloric?

It’s just Soy.

Its not. Its hydrolyzed soy, which means the proteins have been broken down. Says it right in the description.

Aye. You are correct.
In a living soil type scenario you could just germinate some soybeans and milkshake em.

I tried it and it didn’t do anything to a nitrogen deficient plant.

We need more information. What exactly did you try? How much of said what did you use? How long has it been?

I tried two different application rates through a soil drench with soy protein powder. 1oz vs 3oz per gallon @6.4ph RO. These were applied to young vegging plants that were getting hungry before transplanting. I watered in and waited 5 days with no visible change in color.

Veerrry interesting. So the form that’s available to humans is unavailable to plants.

What’s your soil made of again?

I’m gonna keep trying on some of my less favorable plants. I’m in a buildasoil lite soil. Peat and compost based.

I found this product called Ferti-Nitro Plus you might like, it’s super cheap:
