Shit dude so sorry. Totaly got distracted. Coco is a no no. Wouldnt coco be waaaaaaaayyyy more expensive then 14cuft of peatmoss for 12 bucks? And the cec of peat vs coco is much much better MUCH
Like technically coco would work in notill, just no where near as good and it would be a big waste of money and time when you got soil:)

I think coco would also break down fairly quickly with all of the fun microbes, fungus, and creepy crawlies. It seems like it good be a good component, but probably not a good base.
Yeah I’ll probably be joining the dark side soon enough. Water-only soils are great, but as of now, I’ve had to give them a lot more than water 
On that note, have any good links about topdressing? My approach right now is “mmm, this has nitrogen and potassium, and I can use this spoon to put some in the pot.”

I havnt read a lot on topdressing. All it is is cold composting. You put down food, microbes break it down, turn it into plant useable food, and the soil food web uses the food untill the plant needs it. Then the microbes will exchange food for food and the plant eats:)

Well, about recycling in notill mode.
This is not a critical aspect for me, because i actually don’t recycle soil or coco (specially when i have pest lol) .
But it can be interresting if this mode permit a full loop for a sogger that is transplanting very often (by example). I think also by example about urban growers that don’t necessary have the possibility to burry theyr stuff in the garden.
What is your opinion on it, staying in a dream situation where i can access all the best stuff of earth and that i aim a competitive grade of the buds.

Ive used the same soil for about 3 years now. You dont even need to recycle it in notill. It stays in the pot forever!

that’s amazing to me - how do you deal with the trunk and rootball of the last plant? Isn’t it in the way? How big are your flowering containers?

Think about those roots for a minute. What have they been doing the last cycle? Gathering food. These roots are literally nutrient timebombs just waiting for your new roots to get in there. It also adds aeration, it allows water and food and bugs to move more freely in the soil. When a tree falls in the forest do you go dig out the root bal? No itll decompose like nature intended. I could show you a decomposing stem i left in my pot when i get home:) i use pots ranging from 1 gallon up to 25gallon. When i move to my forever home ill set up 100gallon smart pots.

Do you use anything special to “reload” a recycled soil or you just let pots like theyr are initially for 3 years ?

it sounds cool, I"m realizing I follow all the notill philosophies in my outdoor gardening beds, I can see the effect of adding the rootballs out there. I’m more of a control freak indoors, wanting to know exactly how much of each ingredient is in the mix.

@Fuel i have a schedule of feeding the soil, kelp, neem, malted barley, aloe, coconut, fulvic and i do each twice a month. I topdress all the time. Not many teas. But sometimes i wanna make a tea
