New Grow and Pics (I hope)

I have a very similar 1000w led. It’s true draw at the wall is 110w. I’d seriously consider buying a better light with at least 3 times more power draw. Auto flowers will grow with a weaker light source than photoperiod plants would but if your expecting any kind of half decent yield I’d definitely suggest an upgrade :+1:

He did mention he has a “sodium vapor light” I’m assuming hps? This would work but I’d be cautious of the heat output. Hell even tossing some screw in bulbs on splitters would do it.

What would you recommend? A couple more of the light I already have? A different light? Which one? Thanks–

I missed the sodium part of the post. My apologies. HPS light would yield a lot more if he’s able to control the temperatures they give off. With auto flowers does the spectrum matter as much as they do for photoperiod plants?? I’ve always used full spectrum HPS bulbs when I’ve used them.

Honestly I couldn’t say. Only ever run LED’s so I don’t know a whole lot about hps.

If you have a Sodium (hps) light I’d be using that if I’m honest.

I ran 8 autos under 600w at the wall Leds. My final yield is unknown as yet as they are still drying out but I’m expecting around .5g per watt minimum

Right. It’s a light like this:

Plus I have a board with six or eight light bulb sockets on it, that used to have some kind of grow light bulbs in it (I forget what they were, the kind with a spiraling tube). I could get that going again. That’s not quite so hot. What bulbs?

Is anything written on the bulb?
The spiral bulbs are clfs. They work well but they have to be really close to the plants.

It says: Regent LU70M C70S62/M 03/99

They are just 70w sodium bulbs that are 2100k. Perfect temperature for flowering. Add that in with the led and you will yield a fair bit more

Will do . . . working on it . . .

Remember to keep an eye on your temperature after adding the extra light. Autos do best in the low 80s I’ve found.

How close should the HPS be to the plants?

It’s not a hps you have mate. It’s just a Philips 2100k 70w sodium bulb. Put it as close to the plants as you can get. Put your hand same hight as the top of the plant and as long as you can hold your hand under it comfortably your plants will be fine. I’d start at about 18 inch and lower it as much as you can

Does that type of bulb still require a ballast or does it screw into a standard socket?

Standard e26 fitting. I doubt a ballast would be needed being only 70w

It does have a ballast. It was a parking lot light. It’s in the tent now, working like a charm. I had to put a block on its light sensor–it’s made to go off in daylight and on at night. Pic to follow –
